Process for dyeing or printing textile fibers made of nickel-containing polypropylene It is known that azo dyes of very specific compositions and alizarin dyes are suitable for dyeing textile material made of nickel-containing polypropylene (Belgian patent specification numbers <B> 625 </B> 429 and <B> 625 </B> 430).
It has now been found that textile material made of nickel-containing polypropylene can be dyed or printed in deep shades with excellent fastness properties by using azo dyes of the formula Y-N = N-A, where Y is one of the groupings
EMI0001.0012
means in which R is an optionally substituted phenyl radical, R, a halogen atom, an alkyl or alkoxy group, Z is the one to complete an imidazole, triazole or 1,
4-diazine ring required members, and <B> A </B> the remainder of a 1-oxy-4-halobenzene, 1-oxy-4-alkoxybenzene, 1-oxy-4-alkylbenzene, 3-oxydiphenylamine, 2,4 -Dioxy-1-acylbenzene, 2-oxynaphthalene, 2-oxycarbazole, 3-oxydiphenylene oxide or <B> 1 </B> -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolones are used.
The dyeing can be carried out in such a way that the textile material made of polypropylene, which contains <B> 0.05 </B> to <B> 1% </B> nickel, is placed in an aqueous dyebath that contains the dye and optionally a carrier contains, treated at temperatures between about <B> 90 </B> and about 140'C and completes the dyeing obtained in the usual way. The addition of a wetting and dispersing agent to the dyebath is recommended but not mandatory.
Printing is expediently carried out in such a way that the dye is dissolved in a suitable solvent, for example in dimethylformamide, and the dye solution is stirred into a suitable thickener, for example crystal rubber. After application of the printing paste, which can still contain conventional printing auxiliaries, the printed fabric is steamed at temperatures between about 101 and about 140 ° C. and then treated in the usual way. Carriers can also be added to the printing paste.
Suitable carriers are, for example, di- and trichlorobenzenes, chloronaphthalenes, methylnaphthalenes, butyl benzoate, o-phenylphenol or methyl oxytoluene-carboxylate.
The dyeing and steaming can take place in the pH range 2 to 11, preferably in the pH range 3 to 8.
The dyes used according to the invention have a good affinity for textile material made of nickel-containing polypropylene and result in predominantly yellow, orange, red, brown, blue and violet dyeings or prints of very good wet and light fastness properties and good solvents and friction - and exhaust gas fastness.
The dyes used can be prepared in the usual way by coupling diazotized 1-phenyl-3-amino-5-imino-4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazole or its derivatives substituted in the phenyl radical or diazotized 7- Aminobenzimidazoles-7-aminobenzotriazoles or 5-aminoquinoxalines are carried out with the corresponding azo components.
The azo dyes used according to the process are clearly superior to the quinoline azo dyes known from Belgian patent specification No. 625 429 in terms of their fastness to washing of the dyeings produced on nickel-containing polypropylene.
<I>Example<B>1</B> </I> <B> 10 </B> parts by weight of a polypropylene yarn made of staple fiber of a single titre of <B> 3 </B> den and a content of <B> 0, 75% by weight of the nickel compound of 3,3'-dioxy-5,5'-dioctyl-diphenylsulfone are mixed with an aqueous solution containing 0.3 g of the addition product from <B> per liter Contains> 1 </B> mol of nonylphenol and <B> 11 </B> mol of ethylene oxide, wash <B> 30 </B> minutes at <B> 60'C </B>, rinsed and then dry without intermediate treated in a bath containing 400 parts by weight of water <B> 0,
1 part by weight of acetic acid, 0.04 part by weight of sodium dibutylnaphthalenesulfonic acid, 0.3 part by weight of dinaphthylmethanedisulfonic acid and 0.2 part by weight of the 1-phenyl-3-amino-5- diazotized by coupling imino-4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazole obtained with 2-oxynaphthalene azo dye contains. After dyeing for ten minutes at room temperature, the temperature of the dye bath is increased to 100 ° C. within 45 minutes and dyed at this temperature for 2 hours.
The dyed yarn is then rinsed hot and cold, <B> 30 </B> minutes at <B> 80 'C </B> with an aqueous solution containing <B> 1 g </B> of the adduct per liter of <B> 1 </B> moles of nonylphenol and <B> 11 </B> moles of ethylene oxide and 0.4 <B> g </B> sodium carbonate, washed, rinsed and dried.
A bluish red dyeing of very good fastness to washing, perspiration, solvents, light and rubbing is obtained.
<I> Example 2 </I> <B> 10 </B> parts by weight of a polypropylene yarn made of staple fiber of a single titre of <B> 3 </B> den and a nickel content of <B> 0.05 </B> wt. % are in the dyebath described in Example <B> 1 </B> and under the dyeing conditions described there, but using 0.2 parts by weight of the 1-phenyl-3-amino-5-imino- 4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazole with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone obtained azo dye and with the addition of 2 parts by weight of methylnaphthalene, colored.
A yellow coloration of very good light, washing, perspiration, solvent and rub fastness is obtained.
<I>Example<B>3</B> </I> <B> 50 </B> parts by weight of the dye from diazotized 1-phenyl-3-amino-5-imino-4,5-dihydro-1,2 , 4-triazole and 1-oxy-4-chlorobenzene are dissolved in <B> 300 </B> parts by weight of dimethylformamide.
