Konjugationstabelle.
Conjugation table. The subject of the present invention is a conjugation table for the regularly and the irregularly conjugated verbs, characterized in that it is subdivided into columns running perpendicular to one another, the columns running in one direction for recording the times and the other columns for recording the different groups of verbs are determined, which latter columns are subdivided for the inclusion of the regularly and the irregularly conjugated verbs, and further characterized by the fact that of the regularly conjugated verbs one of each group in all tenses in the table is registered,
while the irregularly conjugated verbs in the present-tense column in the infinitif and also in all time columns are only written in the irregular form in question where they are irregularly conjugated.
The accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of such a conjugation table in application to French verbs.
The first vertical column shows the times, the second is intended for the for words, with the same only given for the present tense and in the other times, because they are always constant, shown by vertical arrows. Then four main columns follow according to the group endings "er, ir, re, oir". Each of these columns is further divided into three parts, the sections of which are marked with I, II, III.
I is reserved as a type for the stem of a regular verb of the group concerned. II is used to accommodate the endings of the regular conjugations and IH, which section is appropriately the largest, contains all irregular verbs in the present tense, furthermore in those personal forms in which the endings are irregular, the relevant conjugation forms or at least their endings. In the time columns from the imparfait to the participe, only those conjugation forms are indicated in the corresponding group columns which have an irregular ending.
In the drawing, an irregular verb is indicated in the manner described before for each of the four groups. Since the irregularity, as will be shown later, usually shows uniformity for all persons in the same time, it is sufficient in these cases to enter a single password, for example in the first person.
In the first group the irregular verb "aller" is shown. While in the present tense, due to the stem difference in the singular and plural, all personal forms are presented in extenso, this is no longer necessary in the other tenses up to the imperatif. For example, in the future tense and conditionnel the stem "ir" remains for all persons, likewise in the subject present the stem "aill".
In the example of the second group "courir", the irregularity in the present tense consists in the dropping of the letter "i" in the ending.
In the imparfait, the conjugation deviates from the regular form in that the first part of the endings consisting of "iss" is omitted, but the last part of the endings is regular. Therefore, only the first person is given to identify this omission.
The passe defini differs from the regular one in that the "i" of the ending is replaced by an "uz. Therefore, only the first person is sufficient.
The future tense is treated analogously, where the irregularity in the dropout of the "i" is noted. The subjonctif, imperatif and participe are treated in the same way.
The word "connaitre" is chosen for the third group, which is regular in the future and conditionnel and has irregularities in the rest of the times. In the fourth group, the word "savoir" is conjugated regularly in the past tense and irregularly in the other tenses.
The conjugations of verbs in other languages are presented in a corresponding manner.
Since outdated forms appear in the living languages, they can be specially marked.
The clarity of the table is also increased by displaying it in different colors. Often used words, and those words that represent stems of compound words, such as courir, accourir, secourir, etc., are highlighted by a special identifier. This consists, for example, in the fact that the word in question always appears on the same colored background in all times. The same colors can be repeated in the different groups without disturbing the overview. The examples given in the drawing can appear on a blue background.
Another word or group of words is then printed on a red or yellow background. In order to enable the greatest possible diversity of the identification without deviating from the three basic colors in order to avoid excessively high printing costs, the word images can also be surrounded by a colored frame, or the coloring can be represented by hatching. This means that enough different markings can be produced to clearly represent all irregular verbs, each one individually. The verbs themselves can also be printed in color.
