Gemäss der Erfindung besitzt das Gerät ein rechtwinkliges Messdreieck mit veränder lichem Kathetenverhältnis, dessen Hypo- thenuse infolge einer Änderung des Längen verhältnisses beider Katheten um einen ;

Device for determining the altitude of an aircraft whose speed with respect to the ground is known. The inventor is named: Antonio Cleinenti in Vienna.
The invention has the purpose of being on board an aircraft, the speed of which is known over the ground, to enable the flight altitude over a target point that is clearly visible on the ground.
According to the invention, the device has a right-angled measuring triangle with a changeable cathetus ratio, the hypothenuse of which as a result of a change in the length ratio of both cathets by one;
certain angle is rotated, which is multiplied by a gearbox, indicating the altitude sought by means of a pointer mark on an altitude scale, if the change in the length ratio of the two legs is both a function of the known flight speed over the ground and a function of another means a special sighting device is set to be determined flight variables, for example as a function of a certain measuring time that the targeted target point needs to hike through a certain horizontal measuring distance in the sighting device,
or as a function of the apparent target speed along the horizontal measurement section, or as a function of the target displacement during a certain constant observation time.
Is this sighting device set up in such a way that, for the purpose of using it as a dropping sight, the sighting line is given in a known manner from the moment the target coincides with a certain pre-sighting line by a fixed and a precisely or approximately vertically displaceable sighting mark at a constant speed, whereby the target intersecting the set line of sight initially lags behind the line of sight controlled by a clockwork, in order to reach it after a certain,
The clockwork of the vertically or approximately vertically displaceable sight mark can also be used at the same time to adjust the length of one catheter and then causes a change in the measured time between the two target coincidences during the measurement time elapsed between the two target coincidences certain function of the airspeed over ground set initial inclination of the hypotenuse against the cathetus
Since this change in the inclination of the hypotenuse, which indicates the flight altitude, is caused by the change in the initial length of the second leg, which is proportional to the measurement time, against the one leg of the measuring triangle, the length of the first leg remains unchanged. The subject of the invention. is shown in the "accompanying drawing in two embodiments.
1 shows a device in which the one leg of the right-angled triangle as a function of the flight speed over the ground and the second leg as a function of the measurement time, during which a constant horizontal measurement path in the sighting device is flown through according to FIG . 2 represents a device,
in which a cathetus as a function of the speed over ground and the measuring time between two coincidences of the target point when using a sighting device according to FIG. 2a, the target line of which is controlled by a sighting mark moved vertically at a constant speed depending on the respective flight speed becomes. .
In Fig. 1, 1 is a rotatably mounted screw spindle on which a Längsver sliding nut 2 sits, in which perpendicular to the spindle 1 a screw spindle 3 is rotatably supported, on which a nut 7 provided with a radial .Stirnzapfen 8 sits on . This end pin 8 sits in the longitudinal slot 5 of the hypotenuse lever 4, which is rotatably mounted on a pin 6 and is firmly connected to the gear wheel 14.
This engages in a second, smaller gear wheel 15, on the axis of which a pointer 16 is fixed, which indicates the various angles of the hypotenuse lever 4 relative to the axis of the spindle 1 on a height scale 17. The latter is set by hand according to a speed scale provided on the drum 13 and a non-axially guided pointer as a function of the respective measured flight speed over the ground, where the first cathetus falling into the spindle axis as an axis distance of 3 and 6 has a certain length receives,
while the second cathetus is set as the axis distance of the pin 8 from the spindle 1 by rotating the spindle 3 by means of a clockwork 12 via the bevel gear drive 9-10 during a certain hike along a certain horizontal i @ less stretch of the target device.
According to FIG. 1a, this target device essentially consists of a horizontal measuring section formed by two measuring marks A, A'2 in front of a measuring section at a vertical distance 00,. = 1a above the upper target mark 0.
Comes the straight approached target 7 in the first Vorvisierlinie OAS, the clockwork 12 of the device of FIG. 1 is switched on, whereby the rotation of the spindle 3 and thereby the displacement of the nut 7 and the \ rotation of the height pointer 16 is effected. If the target comes into the second line of sight 0.42 after the measuring time t, the clockwork is stopped.
Since the pointer 16 remains on a partial line of the height scale 17 \ 'which indicates the flight altitude when the vertical leg of the right-angled triangle has been set by means of the scale drum 13 as a function of the known speed V above ground:
Then, according to the relationship shown in FIG. Yes, the flight altitude H = lz

proportional to the timed time t respectively. the displacement of the pin $ controlling the lever 4 during this time, which displacement results in a rotation of the lever 4 from its vertical zero position proportional to the are ty.
EMI0003.0005
However, if this target device, as mentioned, is set up as a drop sight so that the clockwork 12, which is switched on at the moment of the first preliminary sight OA, Z, (Fig. 2a), the inclination 9p, depending on the known flight speed V, against the vertical set line of sight 0A, through which target mark A, moving vertically downwards at a constant speed, follows a law of motion that deviates from the apparent target movement,
This results in the simplified device form shown in FIG. 2, in which instead of the screw spindle 1 serving as a variable catheter at speed:
igkeitsskala 13 a fixed axial distance of the spindle 3 from the pin 6 is used, while the length adjustment of the second cathetus 3 by the clockwork 12 during the between the two coincidences OA, Z, and OAZZ. of the target, the measuring time t expires depending on the known airspeed V for the purpose of determining the flight altitude H on a scale. of the sighting device is set, takes place.
If T is a certain fall time of the object to be thrown, then there is a throwing hit (if the return drift is neglected) if the distance 0, Z., <I> = VT, </I> at the approach speed V of the target if the target from the first coincidence OA, Z, after the measurement time <I> t </I> has elapsed, the second target coincidence OAJ. resulted, i.e. Z, Z2 - V. t.
The similarity of the two triangles OA "A, and 0Z, 0, results in OAa <I>: </I> A" A, <I> = </I> 0A <I>: 00, </I> or a : vT = V (T + t) <I>:
H </I> and from it
EMI0003.0047
Since the actual fall time T of a thrown object is not taken into account for the height measurement, it is expedient to set VT # Jc (koustarrt) because v (T + t) follows. Is the starting length of the adjustable
