Rohteer <SEP> Dest. <SEP> Teer
<tb> Anteil <SEP> Teer <SEP> 75 <SEP> bis <SEP> 85 <SEP> % <SEP> 85 <SEP> bis <SEP> 95
<tb> Anteil <SEP> Mahlgut <SEP> (Altgummi <SEP> etc.)
Process for the production of highly viscous, permanent adhesive or pleasure compounds, in particular for the treatment of street ceilings. The use of untreated coal tar in road construction and maintenance has had to give way to the demands of modern traffic. Only certain technical properties of this by-product of gas production, but more so its cheapness, have always attracted the attention of experts, and it is known to add tars chemically or mechanically, through special distillation or admixture of various additives refine it and make it useful for road construction.
The main characteristic of a refined tar is its increased viscosity.
However, it is also known that an increase in the viscosity of a bituminous binder usually reduces or otherwise impairs the properties that are most important to life, especially for road construction, such as adhesion, toughness, durability, etc. It has therefore already been proposed to make such binders more resistant by adding rubber milk, rubber, vulcanized or - unvulcanized, waste rubber or even old rubber material, in the form of solutions or cut into pieces and mixed with them.
According to the previous state of the art, however, the production of such mixtures requires extensive, stationary installations, lengthy cooking or complicated working methods, which inevitably burden the respective products economically and their increased use is a hindrance.
The subject of the present invention is a process by which highly viscous, permanent adhesive or casting compounds are produced by mixing tars with finely ground waste or scrap rubber and stirring at an elevated temperature until at least partial solution, a 3-measure that can be used in any can be done with a stirrer equipped cooking device.
Preferably, finely ground old rubber is dissolved and mixed in tars that have been suitably heated beforehand, with the fillers and fibers present in the rubber contributing to cementing and stiffening of the new binder and increasing its viscosity, while at the same time improving its other mechanical properties Tests have shown that preference is given to a grinding fineness of the rubber-containing additives below 5 mm.
Probably the increase in the amount of existing in the old rubber material those fibrous materials the resistance of bituminous masses to mechanical loading, and the above grinding fineness for potting compounds according to the invention does not matter; however, care should be taken that longer fibers easily clog the spray nozzles used in surface treatments.
In addition, it has been shown that evenly grained additives bring about the conversion of low-viscosity tars into highly viscous masses aimed at by the invention more quickly and without inequalities. The uniformity of the grain size of the additives is only really expressed if, depending on the intended purpose of the product manufactured according to the invention, the rubber-containing additives are only partially dissolved or melted and the partially still granular residues are carried out with constant stirring and lowering of the temperature in. the stiffening mass should remain floating.
For example, a completely dissolved sample (on glass) shows a glossy, smooth surface, while a partially dissolved sample results in a rough to rough surface. Such properties of the tar rubber quantity produced according to the invention are particularly valuable for road construction; but if you want to influence other mechanical properties of this binder, this can be done with ease with the present method, be it by adding more or less large amounts of artificial or natural asphalt or residues from petroleum distillation, be it by extending the cooking time or increasing it the cooking temperature.
Additions of petroleum pitch, for example, have a positive effect on the thread length at the drop point of the product according to the invention, while additions of Trinidad asphalt not only result in a strong increase in viscosity, but also an acceleration of the solidification rate when the mixture is applied .
The composition of the mass produced according to the invention is therefore not tied to certain proportions; Nor is the present process restricted to certain temperatures. At least it has been established through experiments that the end product is the end product in the most frequently used proportions. shows roughly the following composition:

Raw tar <SEP> Dest. <SEP> tar
<tb> Share <SEP> tar <SEP> 75 <SEP> to <SEP> 85 <SEP>% <SEP> 85 <SEP> to <SEP> 95
<tb> Proportion <SEP> regrind <SEP> (old rubber <SEP> etc.) <SEP> 25 <SEP> to <SEP> 10 <SEP>% <SEP> 15 <SEP> to <SEP> 5
<tb> Share <SEP> other <SEP> additives <SEP> 0 <SEP> to <SEP> 5 <SEP>% <SEP> none Depending on the intended use of the compounds produced according to the present invention, tests must be carried out to clarify which Which values are most suitable for potting compounds, covers, binders or adhesives.
For example, an aqueous crude tar can be converted into a bitumen-like mass which is excellently identified for surface treatments and has a viscosity of over 60 seconds at <B> 50 '</B> C in the following way.
With the addition of <B> 3 </B> percent by weight petrol pitch (binder), a corresponding amount of raw tar is heated to 19.0 to 140 ° C in a preheater equipped with a stirrer, then 15 percent by weight of finely ground old rubber is added. the temperature gradually increased to <B> 170 </B> to 190 C and the mixture was stirred until the rubber particles were completely dissolved (verlaekungsprobe), whereby the large, wetted surface of the finely ground old rubber additive ensures rapid conversion.
The same procedure is used with distilled tar. By adding, for example, 1.0 percent by weight of ground old rubber to distilled tar, a product is obtained with a viscosity of over 90 seconds at 50 C.
When rewarming a quantity of tar gum that has not been used immediately, a temperature of 140 to 16 (1 C, has proven to be the most appropriate.
The adhesives or potting compounds produced according to the present process can be used wherever a permanent and resistant binding effect is important, such as surface treatments, impregnations or other road construction processes. But they can also be used to pour stone paving, pavement joints or to attach traffic signs to the road.
