Description

Elektrischer Wasserheizkessel.

Electric water boiler. The electrical heating of water is nowadays mostly done by electrical heating elements, which are immersed in the water to be heated with the aid of these surrounding iron pipes. Between the heating elements and the water, the heat emanating from the former must first pass through the air cushion and the surrounding iron pipe.

Attempts to circumvent this complicated and expensive installation were made by inserting the electrical heating elements (heating wires) directly into the water to be heated, an arrangement that was inexpedient as part of the current flowed through the water and the lei treatment was very changeable, depending on whether the surrounding water is clean or dirty. For this reason, it has already been proposed to arrange the heating wires as electrodes we kenden movably to counter the variable resistance of the water. The present invention now relates to another type of electric water heating boiler.

Here the heating elements are housed in a closed vessel which is completely or almost completely filled with a liquid and which in turn is inserted tightly into the water space of the boiler body.

In the drawing, which is an embodiment example of such a water boiler cally, A is the boiler body, which, if necessary, can be seen ver with an insulating jacket. The boiler body A contains the water B to be heated, which has its entry into the boiler at C and its exit at D. In the water space of the boiler body A, a closed vessel E is inserted tightly against the boiler water B in its lower part. The vessel E ent contains the heating elements 11 and is filled with a liquid F which gives the heating elements and is separated from the boiler water B by the vessel wall.

Chemically pure water can be used as the filling liquid for the vessel E: however, the use of another, suitable liquid is also conceivable.

The heating elements LI are connected to a power supply line by means of the bushing insulators Z. During operation, they cause the liquid F to be heated, which in turn is heated by the boiler water B through the vessel wall.

If the liquid F consists of chemically pure water, a current leakage from the heating elements after this water is prevented as far as possible; the water F then serves two functions, namely to a certain extent as an electrical insulator and then as a heat exchanger to the boiler water B.

Compared to the one where the heating elements are inserted directly into the boiler water, the device described avoids decomposition of the same due to the electric current, and the performance of the heating elements is not impaired.
