Device on cooling brine valves to prevent the formation of ice on the valves or to thaw any ice that has formed on the valves. In cooling systems, it is known that the valves that are installed in pipelines freeze up, which cooling brine lead, for example, to the cooling chambers, the valve spindle freezing firmly on the valve body at the point where it emerges from the valve body.
In the case of manually operated valves, the ice must be removed before each operation so that the spindle can be turned.
On the other hand, with automatic valves operated by means of solenoid, motor or pressure diaphragm, operation becomes impossible as soon as the spindle is frozen.
The subject of this invention is now a 'device on cooling brine valves, wel che prevent the formation of an ice deposit on the valves or the thawing of an ice deposit formed on the valves it should be possible. This device is characterized by the fact that the side of the stuffing box and the side of the point at which the spindle of the valve emerges from the stuffing box, an electrical heating resistor is arranged, which prevents the formation of ice at these points and the valve spindle freezing in the stuffing box prevent or allow the thawing of an ice accumulation formed at these points.
In the drawing, an execution example of the subject invention is shown on a cooling brine valve, which can be both a manually operated and an automatically driven valve.
1 with the valve body is referred to, 2 is the valve seat, 8 the valve plate and 4 the valve spindle, which protrudes from the valve body at the stuffing box 5.
6 is a double-walled sleeve which is screwed to the valve body 1 at 7, but can also only be attached loosely to it. can. An electrical heating coil 8 is embedded between the walls of the sleeve 6, intended to warm the upper part of the stuffing box, as well as the protruding valve spindle, in order to prevent it from freezing. The leads to the winding are labeled + and -.
The sleeve 6 can also be screwed to the valve body 1 with the interposition of a seal, so that a water bath can accumulate in the space 9 within the inner wall of the sleeve 6 through the formation of condensate, which promotes the transfer of heat.
The electrical heating coil 8 can be dimensioned in such a way that when it is switched on continuously, there is no substantial excess heat development. An impairment of the overall efficiency of the cooling system by this artificial heat supply will not take place if the heating resistance is correctly dimensioned, and the operating costs for the electricity consumption of the heating will also be insignificant in relation to the total operating costs.
The heating can also only be used intermittently before the valve is operated to thaw the same, the heating energy having to be greater in accordance with the shorter switch-on time.
