Process for the production of wallpapers from timber veneer. The invention relates to a method for producing wallpaper made of peeled wood veneer, on the back of which a layer of fiber material, such as paper, Zellstoffge tissue, cotton or other tissue of a suitable type is glued.
For the production of veneered wallpapers, the overlay was previously glued to the trunk, just before the paring knife, or the veneer was combined with the overlay immediately after the peeling process, i.e. still wet.
It has also been proposed to use veneer of various shapes in wood wallpaper manufacture without taking into account that the wood veneer, the shrinkage of which is different depending on the wood species, behaves very differently than the edition to be applied to the back. Ta peten made in this way. therefore tend to roll up, so that they become brittle if kept for a long time. It is also not possible to stick the support on the back of the veneer with thick glue or other adhesive material to which a mixture with formaldehyde is added, because the difference in shrinkage is not taken into account.
The invention differs from the known methods in that the freshly peeled veneer is cut into strips and these strips are treated in a bath consisting of a colloidal solution of cellulose acetate, chrome alum, formaldehyde and water, for example 15 parts of a colloidal solution of cellulose acetate , 10 parts of 14% chrome alum solution, 5 parts of formaldehyde and 70 parts of water. The veneers coming from this bath are then dried and then placed in a second bath, which contains glycerine, gelatin and water, for example 30 parts 25 o / oiges glycerin, 25 parts gelatine and 45 parts water contains.
The sheets of veneer coming from this second bath are in turn dried and deposited and finally glued behind with a sheet of fiber material, for example a paper or fabric fiber layer or the like. The entire treatment time is 24 hours or less or more, depending on the type of wood to be treated.
The intensive soaking of the fur kidney in the two baths prevents the wood from working.
In order to produce colored wallpaper, the peeling strips can be colored after drying and depositing with the help of a device provided with right and left rotating brush cylinders, whereby the coloring material is driven into the wood cells from both sides. After the dyeing ben, the veneer sheets are dried and stored again and then glued back with the overlay.
