Distance usable as pitch. The usual scales and tape measures made of wood, steel or fabric tape have the disadvantage that they cannot easily determine the height of the towers between two walls or the internal dimensions of a cavity, for example the internal diameter of a vessel with a re-entrant rim. Even flexible scales require cumbersome manipulations and often cannot be used properly for such measurements.
In the subject matter of the invention - these difficulties are overcome in the simplest possible way, and the disadvantages of the known distance mass in the internal measurement are eliminated. In this case, a tape measure that can be pushed into a housing is used, which is designed such that the housing itself, but must also be used for the vertical dimension measurement.
In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in elevation and outline. The housing b for the measuring tape a is provided with an end stop c, the end surface of which is at a distance of a whole multiple of the measuring unit from the exit point d of the measuring tape.
(The end stop could also be designed as a stop point instead of a surface.) In the example, this distance is 6 cm, so that the dimension of the distance to be measured results from the extended length of the tape, increased by the can width of 6 cm. In this example it is essential that the division of the measuring tape begins with this measuring number 6; As a result, at the exit point d of the measuring tape a from the can b, the entire pitch between your stop c of the can and the beginning e of the tape a also designed as a stop is read directly, in the case of the drawing the measure 17 cm.
In order to still be able to use the measuring device in the normal way for the length measurement, the usual measuring scale starting with the value 0 is expediently plotted on the measuring tape. As can be seen from FIG. 1, the dimension number 17 is half covered and therefore not easy to read. In order to avoid this inconvenience, the slot d, from which the tape a is pulled out, can be countersunk and a reading mark f can be attached to the measuring point on the housing, which coincide with the edge of the housing or, as shown in Fig 3 shows can be within the same.
The housing b need not have a round shape and can be adapted to the intended use. The new measuring device is particularly suitable for bricklayers and other building tradesmen, as well as for cabinet makers, coopers, potters, in short for all hollow manufacturers.
