Description

Process for the production of a slip-proof floor covering. The extraordinary development of automobilism has brought about the occurrence of large quantities of used tire covers and inner tubes, the beneficial reuse of which is a hitherto unsolved problem. It was found that vulcanized rubber waste with fabric inserts, including z. B. the above-mentioned used up rubber objects include ren, a valuable yet inexpensive, anti-slip floor covering that has the properties of a good rubber flooring, if you put them in, for. B.

mixed by grinding, comminuted state with a rubber dispersion and the mixture, optionally after rolling onto a previously rubberized fabric, vulcanized. As a rubber dispersion you can, for. B. use a natural raw rubber dispersion (latex) or artificially produced rubber dispersions. You can mix the crushed, z. B. ground rubber waste with the rubber dispersion suitable to rates, such. B. Vulcanization accelerators and dyes, etc., add. The mixture can be vulcanized in the usual way.

When carrying out the method, rubber sheets can be produced in endless lengths, which represent an excellent floor covering.

Example: One uses 85 parts of a fine powder containing rubber and fabric fiber, which has been produced by grinding old automobile tire covers or other types of rubber waste, and mixes this powder with 15 parts of 40% latex with additive a vulcanization accelerator. The evenly mixed mass is z. B. in a thickness of 31/2 mm on a previously rubberized fabric, whereupon after the evaporation of the water, vulcanization is carried out in the usual way on heated rollers.

The advantage of this process over the known process for the production of rubber coverings or rubber sheets is the extremely economical way of working, and the process enables the technical recovery and utilization of at least a large part of the rubber tires used by vehicles and other similarly composed rubber waste.
