Description
Piston rod in which cooling water is returned to the piston and back through pipes arranged one inside the other, especially for double-acting internal combustion engines. The invention relates to a piston rod in which cooling water is guided to the piston and back through pipes arranged one inside the other, in particular for double-acting internal combustion engines. In known piston rods of this type, the outer cooling water pipe lies snugly against the piston rod wall, and there, the .Übelstand ge shows,
that the cooling effect of the water on the rod as a result of the various thermal expansions of rod and tube can be severely disturbed. -.Hit the present invention is the elimination -this evil was intended. The invention consists in the fact that a space filled with a liquid is saved between the outer cooling water pipe and the piston rod wall. This not only makes it possible to secure, but also to increase the cooling effect. The liquid can inevitably be kept in circulation in the recessed space for the purpose of further increasing the cooling effect.
The liquid in the recessed space is expedient in such a way that it does not have a corrosive effect.
An embodiment of the subject invention is shown in section on the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a section along the line 1-I of Fig. 2, and Fig. a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
a is the piston rod of a piston machine (not shown) with a water-cooled working piston b and a cross head e. The cooling water is fed to the piston through the annular space e connected to the supply line d and discharged from it again through the central pipe g connected to the discharge line f. The piston rod is lined with a tube h, which has the purpose of protecting the piston rod from the corrosive effects of the cooling water.
So that the heat transfer from the piston rod to the cooling water cannot be disturbed by the various thermal expansions of the tube h and the piston rod, channels i are recessed between the tube h and the piston rod wall, which pass through a feed line k and a discharge line 1 is connected to a circulation pump, not shown, from which 01 is driven in the circuit through the channels.
Of course, the oil could also effect the heat transfer to the cooling water without being moved.
