Description
Metalldampfgrossgleiehriehter.
Fig.2)..
Large metal vapor guide. The invention relates to large metal vapor bleachers with at least two protective bodies concentrically surrounding each anode. The free ends of which are spaced apart from the anode in axial distances that increase with the tube diameter.
It has already been proposed to arrange several protective tubes concentrically surrounding the anodes in such a way that the free ends of the tubes are further away from the anode with increasing diameter. It was also suggested that the free ends of the pipes should be narrowed by drawing in. The retraction of the protective tubes at the mouth in no way allows an equipotential surface to be created that closes off the tube in question.
If you wanted to achieve this by pulling in the pipes, the pulling in would have to be so narrow that the operating current would suffer a very high voltage loss.
According to the present invention, the free ends are. each protective body - closed by a grid.
In the drawing are some: Ausfüh approximately examples indicated schematically, namely the figures show longitudinal sections through various Ausführungs.formen of anodes surrounded by protective tubes.
. The anodes are marked with 1 and the protective tubes with 2, 3 and 4 in the drawings. The protective tubes 2, 3 and 4 are closed by grids 5, 6, 7. With 8 lying between the protective tubes and the anode insulating parts are designated. In these resistors 9 can be provided through which the protective tubes with each other or. connected to the anode.
In the arrangement according to FIG. 1, the capacitance of the innermost protective tube compared to the adjacent anode is smaller than the partial capacities of two adjacent protective tubes. The partial capacities of the neighboring protective tubes are increasing towards the outside. The potential distribution is therefore unequal. The greatest potential difference occurs between the anode and the innermost protective tube.
A compensation is possible through arbitrary regulation from outside or through ohmsclie respectively. capacitive voltage divider resistances, which can also be located in the vessel. The arrangement of the capacitive compensation indicated in FIGS. 2 and 3 is particularly simple. It is important here that the inner protective tubes must be shielded against the ingress of cargo from the outside.
You can enlarge the tube length, especially the inner tubes, that of the outer ver smaller and then get the telescopic structure given in Fig. 2. You can also influence the partial capacities by choosing the dielectric constant of the insulating materials in the relevant spaces or the distances between the protective tube surfaces.
The potential graduation achieved has the advantage of increasing the backfire security in the blocking phase and favors the ignition of the arc. in - the transitional phase.
The pipes can be connected to power lines leading to the outside. The tubes can, as already mentioned, be connected with each other and with .der anode through resistors, which are preferably arranged within the rectifier vessel or even within the anode protection parts (see. Fig.2) .. You can also use the tubes Connect with each other and with the anode via capacitive resistors.
- The partial capacities of the protective tubes against each other and against the anode can be variable by means of the capacitive resistances in order to achieve a uniform graduation of the potential of the grids or a reduction in the field strength prevailing in the area around the anode. By dimensioning the protective tubes, preferably by extending the inner protective tubes towards the side of the anode shaft, it is possible to achieve desired values for the partial capacities of the tubes against each other and against the anode.
This can also be achieved by choosing the dielectric of the discharge-free interspaces by filling different amounts of insulating material with a suitable dielectric constant.
The tubes carrying the grid can be adjustable in the direction of their axis to achieve variable capacities. Each protective tube closed with a grid can electrostatically form a chamber with special potentials compared to the other protective tubes belonging to the same anode.
In contrast to the retractions, the grids cause practically no loss of tension. By subdividing the grid meshes sufficiently fine in comparison to the grid spacing or also by the shape, for example the execution of the grid as .Schachtgitter, one can easily achieve, the penetration between the grids is small - each grid can be electrically connected to its pipe.
However, it is also possible to insulate the grids, since they automatically assume a potential that is graded according to the potential distribution of the protective tubes due to their position. The staging of the potential distribution between the protective tubes is advantageously adjustable in the current passage phase and in the blocking phase.
Under certain circumstances, it can be advantageous to manufacture the anode protection tube yourself from perforated sheet metal or wire gauze. The anode protection tube can then form a uniform closed wire network (wire basket) with the grid. - -
