Le dispositif selon l'invention peut être appliqué, par exemple à un phonographe ou à toute autre source d'émission de sons. Sur le dessin annexé: La fig. 1 montre, en perspective, com ment an peut relier à. un phonographe d'un type ordinaire, un dispositif amplificateur de sons conforme à. l'invention; La fig. 2 est une vue en élévation d'une seconde forme d'exécution d'un phonographe auquel est appliqué un dispositif amplifica teur selon l'invention;

La fig. 7 se rapporte à. la constitution du débouché du conduit acoustique dans le ré flecteur pour permettre l'application du di.s- positif amplificateur selon l'invention aux diaphragmes de grande surface utilisés dans la. transmission électrique; La fig. 8 se rapporte à l'organisation spé ciale donnée au réflecteur de sons, dans une autre forme d'exécution en vue de le combiner avec un diaphragme qui s'ouvre librement sur le côté .du réflecteur;
L'appareil représenté sur les fig. 9 et 10 montre un réflecteur de sons 35 de section co nique, la partie inférieure de ce réflecteur étant supprimée pour qu'on puisse lui adap ter une surface vibrante 36 de grandes di mensions; cette surface vibrante peut être constituée, par exemple, ainsi qu'on l'a repré sentée sur le dessin, par un cône dônt le som met est mis en vibration soit mécaniquement, soit électriquement, soit encore de ces deux manières combinées;
Sub amplifier device. The present invention relates to a positive sound amplifier device comprising an i c # flector of conical section, in which an acoustic duct coming from the reproducer or (the sound emitter opens out laterally, perpendicular to the axis of the reflector.
The device according to the invention can be applied, for example to a phonograph or to any other source of sound emission. In the attached drawing: FIG. 1 shows, in perspective, how an can relate to. a phonograph of an ordinary type, a sound amplifying device according to. invention; Fig. 2 is an elevational view of a second embodiment of a phonograph to which is applied an amplifying device according to the invention;
Fig. 3 is a detail view at. larger scale of the mounting device, on the phonograph, of the amplifier device according to the. fig. 2; Fig. 4 is an elevational view, partially cut away, of a third embodiment of the combination of a phonograph with an amplifier device according to the invention;
Fig. 5 is, on a larger scale, a sectional view of an assembly detail which can be used in the embodiment shown in FIG. 4; Fig. 6 is a section, also on a larger scale, of a ball joint device which can be interposed on the acoustic duct of the. fig. 4;
Fig. 7 relates to. the constitution of the opening of the acoustic duct in the reflector to allow the application of the di.s- positive amplifier according to the invention to the diaphragms of large area used in the. electric transmission; Fig. 8 relates to the special organization given to the sound reflector, in another embodiment with a view to combining it with a diaphragm which opens freely on the side of the reflector;
Figs. 9 and 10 are, respectively, elevation and bottom views of another embodiment of this combination.
In the embodiment of the invention which is shown in FIG. 1, the connection of the reflector 1, of conical section, with the phonograph 2 is carried out by means of a tubular connector.
The reflector 1 is enclosed in a box 2 forming a box and comprising a cover, or shutters or a curtain, said box also containing part 3 of the acoustic tube which opens, on the one hand, to the side of the reflector and, .on the other hand, in 4 on one of the walls of the box 2. The acoustic tube could also penetrate into the reflector.
Another part 5 of the acoustic tube is permanently enclosed in the case 6 of the phonograph with which the amplifier is combined, this potentially phonograph being, for example, a portable phonograph; the tube element 5 ends, on the one hand, with the diaphragm 7 and opens, on the other hand, at 8 on one of the side walls: of the box 6.
When operating the phonograph. it suffices to connect the two parts 3 and 5 of the acoustic tube by a tubular connector 9, the shape and dimensions of which may be arbitrary.
Of course, the connector 9 can be threaded at both ends and be screwed into the threaded ends of the elements 5 and 3 of the acoustic tube, the threads being of course, in this case, not to the contrary; the connection can also be made by bayonet joints or by any other device providing the same result.
The connector 9 can be made of any material, even flexible, and it is conceivable that it can even be constituted by parts of the tube elements 3 and 5 which protrude out of their respective box and which would hook up together for adaptation in some way.
A practical assembly is thus formed which is transportable, compact and which allows the combination of the phonograph and the amplifier at any time.
Fig. 2 relates to a second embodiment: of this combination of a phonograph and an amplifier on reception of the sounds.
In this embodiment, the phonograph comprises a box 10 in which is housed the motor mechanism which makes it possible to control the rotation of the plate 11 on which the disc 12 is placed. On the box 10 the phonograph is mounted, of a way which will be, described later, an assembly consisting of a diaphragm 13, of any nature, provided with its needle 14, by a sound reflector 15 of substantially parabolic or elliptical section and by an acoustic duct 16, one of the ends is fixed anyway suitably in the center of the diaphragm 13 and the other end of which penetrates at 17 on the side of the reflector 15,
preferably in the region close to the focus of the conic.
The assembly of the diaphragm 13, the acoustic duct 16 and the reflector 15 is mounted on the case 10 of the phonograph, so that it can have, on the one hand, a rotational movement about an axis perpendicular to the upper face of the box 10 so that the guille 14 can follow the grooves of the disc from the peripWrique part thereof to its.
central part, and, on the other hand, a rotational movement around -d'un axis horizontal, so that the diaphragm 13 (or more exactly the needle 14) can be lifted -from the disc 12 when desired, for example to change the disc.
The assembly device -of the assembly 13, 1.6 and 15 on the phonograph can be constituted, for example, as has been shown in FIG. 3, by a foot 18 mounted in a sleeve or bearing 19, fixed in any suitable way and, for example, by a collar 20 to the upper face of the box 10; the foot 18 can rotate in the sleeve 19 around a vertical axis and it can include at its upper part a fork 21, provided at each of its ends with a bearing 22; in these bearings can rotate about a horizontal axis the journals 23 integral with the acoustic duct 16.
Of course, this device could be replaced by any equivalent device giving the same result, namely: movement of the assembly 13, 16 and 15 around a vertical axis, on the one hand, and around a horizontal axis, on the other hand. In any case, the device must be placed in relation to the aforementioned assembly so that it is substantially on the vertical of the center of gravity of this assembly, so that the pressure applied to the disc 12 by the end of needle 14 is weak enough not to damage the disc.
On the fie. 4, 5 and 6, there is shown another embodiment: of the device according to the invention, in which the sound reflector 15 of conical section, is arranged inside the box 10, and mounted in a fixed way with respect to it.
The arm or acoustic duct 16 can be mounted, still on the side of the reflector 15, partly at. inside thereof and so as to be able to rotate relative to the reflector 15 about an axis 24 passing preferably in front of the focus of the reflector, so that the needle 14 can travel through the grooves of the disc from the periphery of it to its central part.
For this purpose, the acoustic duct 16 fits into the reflector in the manner which has been indicated on the fie. 5, the reflector 15 comprising at the place where the acoustic duct 16 is introduced, a sleeve 25, with axis 24, sleeve comprising a lower flange 26 and inside which the extremity can rotate with friction. bottom of the acoustic duct 16. In addition, so that the needle 14 and the diaphragm can be lifted from the disc, the end 27 of the acoustic duct is movable thanks to the presence of a ball 28, such as, for example, that which is represented on the fie. 6.
Of course, if it was considered useful, the acoustic duct 1-6 could be connected in a fixed way to the reflector 15,1a ball joint $ 2 then allowing: in this case, to lift the guille 14 above the disc and also allowing, the movable part 27 of the acoustic arm 1.6, to rotate so that the needle can travel the grooves of the disc from the periphery thereof, to its central part.
To allow the application of devices of this type to the reception and amplification of sounds transmitted by electrical, electrodynamic or magnetic channels, the device which is shown on the fie can be applied to them. 7 of the accompanying drawing, these transmission devices requiring diaphragms -of large diameter.
For this, the acoustic duct 29 which always enters the sound reflector 29 ′ from one side of said reflector, forms an acoustic cap 30 on the outside in the opening of which the diaphragm 31 of the transmission device is attached. electric; the diaphragm 31 is entirely covered by the bell or cap 30 which forms an acoustic duct and which supports the reflector 29 'of conical section, of parabolic generator or the like.
The cap 30 can obviously have a conical or even cylindrical shape.
One of the three embodiments of the invention which are shown on the fies can also be applied for the same purpose. 8, 9 and 11.
The apparatus represented on the fie. 8 shows a sound reflector 32 of conical section combined with a diaphragm 33 which opens freely on the side of the reflector 32 in such a way that the sounds emitted by said diaphragm must be reflected by the reflector 32.
The diaphragm 33 can be of any chosen type; it can, for example, be formed as shown in the drawing by a small cone 34, which can be vibrated by its top, either mechanically or electrically. This diaphragm could also be constituted by a simple vibrating plate controlled in the same way as in a telephone receiver.
The apparatus shown in FIGS. 9 and 10 shows a sound reflector 35 of conical section, the lower part of this reflector being omitted so that a vibrating surface 36 of large dimensions can be adapted to it; this vibrating surface can be constituted, for example, as it has been represented in the drawing, by a cone whose top is put into vibration either mechanically or electrically, or even in these two combined ways;
said cone may be fixed in any suitable way to the plate 37 closing the lower part of the reflector, this plate, which may be flat or curved, comprising a circular opening corresponding to the base of the cone. Moreover, the cone in question could be replaced by any other vibrating surface of large dimensions, whatever its shape.
In the. embodiments described and re presented above, an extremely faithful reproduction of the sounds is obtained whatever the pitch and without any distorting parasitic vibration occurring in the amplification device itself, as usually happens in a more or less marked manner.
Of course, the various embodiments described could undergo more or less significant modifications in their details, without departing from the scope of the invention; it is thus, for example, that the reflectors, instead of being constituted by a single surface, could be formed by several joined elements, each of them being a reflector fragment of conical section.
