Chronograph mechanism. The present invention relates to a chronograph mechanism according to the. claim of the main patent, that is to say a mechanism in which the columns of a column wheel determine, by the set of appropriate levers, the engagement and disengagement of two moving parts, these two moving parts having the same axis of rotation, being movable with respect to one another in a direction parallel to this axis, and respectively having surfaces that the action of a spring acting in said direction tends to. keep in contact to produce the clutch of the mobile .two, while a lever, whose position depends on that of the wheel.
columns, can separate these surfaces by acting against this spring. According to the invention, the two mobiles are mounted on a shaft so that one, connected to the cog, is free to turn on this shaft and the other is only free to slide on it, with the aim that the clutch of the two moving parts results in the rotation of the shaft. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view thereof, and FIG. 2 a partial sectional view.
1 is the control lever which does not carry as usual a pawl and its res comes out, but acts on a lever 2, mounted on the support and returned by a spring '3. This lever acts on the teeth at. ratchet, not shown, of an ordinary column wheel that a jumper serves to maintain in specific positions. Two levers 4 and 6 are movable around the same axis independently of one another; the lever 4 carries a screw at rest 4 ', by which it can drive the lever, 6 when it moves in the direction of the movement that the spring 5 can give it.
The levers 4 and 6 each have suitable projections and ramps intended for. come into contact with the columns and arranged so that when one of the protrusions rests at. outside a column, the other is in a gap. The end of the lever 6 acts on a lever 7 which carries a toothed wheel such as the wheel 19 mentioned in the main patent and has an arm 7 'acting in the same way as the arm 7' of the main patent, that is to say by means of a ramp by which it switches a fork lever 10.
This lever has for pivot axis the edge 20 of a recess, in which the end 10 'can tilt, when the lever 7 moves in the direction indicated by the arrow. The spring 9 keeps the lever 7 pressed against the lever 6. In a drilled pinion of the movement rotates the shaft 15 which has to be engaged with the pinion 1.8 which turns freely on him, so that a needle carried by the tree moves on a dial.
The axial play of the shaft 15 is limited by a plug on the one hand, plug forming a bearing inside the pierced pin, and by the bridge 14 on the other; it is integral with a core 12: in a hole which is freely introduced a pin 13 guided parallel to the shaft and carried by a plate 11 provided with a finger 17 which meshes once per revolution with the counter wheel for ted by lever 7. The plate 11 is free to slide on the shaft 15.
Between the core 12 and the plate 11 is arranged a star spring 16 constantly armed, so that it tends to move its two support pieces away from one another. The central ring of the spring rests on the heart and the branches rest on the. tray 11.
It follows that by the friction created by the axial force of this spring between the plate II and the pinion 18 mainly, the shaft 15 and the idle pinion 18 are always engaged as long as the lever 10 is in the position shown, so that if the wheel 19 meshes with the pinion 18 in the same ratio as an average wheel with a seconds pinion, the shaft 15 counts the seconds by its hand and the finger 17 ensures a counting of the minutes. The surfaces of the plate 11 and of the pinion 18 which come into contact for the clutch are flat cheeks.
From the position shown, the functions determined by the column wheel are the. following: When the rocker 1 rotates by one step, by the lever 2, the ratchet driving the columns, the column 21 against which the lever 4 leans escapes under it, lets it obey the spring 5 and push lever -6, the movement of the latter is transmitted, through the lever 7, to the lever 10 which lifts the plate 11 and disengages it from the pinion 18.
During a subsequent pressure on the rocker 1 and a non = calf step of the ratchet, a mechanism not shown acts on the core 12 to reset the needle to zero, while the column 22 is placed under the protrusion of lever 6 and pass under it to support it and that column 23 comes in front of the ramp of lever 4. Shaft 15. is therefore still disengaged, but lever 4 is about to abandon the levers 7 and 6 to the action of the spring 9.
This occurs during the third pressure on the rocker 1, when the column 23, returning the lever 4 to the position it occupies in the figure relative to the column 21, a position in which it lets the lever 6 rotate in the clockwise and take the position shown which corresponds to the clutch.
The construction may vary in its details, in particular the stud 13 could be replaced by a free keying on the shaft 15.
The advantage of this construction, relative to that shown in the drawing of the main patent, lies in the fact that the force of the spring producing the clutch contributes less to exerting a braking on the train of movement, the friction taking place between the shaft 15 of small diameter and a ruby.
