Description
Mixture suitable as a swelling agent for cellulose derivatives. In the main patent no. 1564 (19 a Nils swelling agent for cellulose derivatives ge suitable mixture is described, which consists of a swelling agent and an organic additive that is able to suppress the dissolving effect of the swelling agent.
Halogenated hydrocarbons, in particular chlorinated hydrocarbons of various types, have been mentioned as swelling agents as well as organic additives.
It has now been shown that the swelling effect of such liquid mixtures which contain ha.logenated, in particular chlorinated, hydrocarbons. decreases over time, apparently due to the fact that small amounts of halogens, especially chlorine, are split off under the action of moisture and light.
It has now been found. that such mixtures can be stabilized and their excellent properties can be retained if small amounts of unsaturated organic substances are added to them. that is, substances which, like derivatives of ethylene and other unsaturated hydrocarbons, contain one or more double compounds. Apparently these unsaturated hydrocarbons are able to store the split off traces of halogens, especially chlorine, for example, be it a15 such or in the form of the corresponding hydrogen compounds.
The following have proven to be particularly effective unsaturated organic additives: olein, linoleic acid, linseed oil, olive oil, butylene and the like. In general, it is sufficient to enter respectively a small amount of a few percent or a fraction of a percent in the liquid mixture. to talk in it.
In addition to the unsaturated oily hydrocarbons, the liquid mixtures can also contain other, if possible, water-free fats, fatty acids such as stearic acid and oils in small quantities.
Some suitable bath mixtures are given below: Example 1: 70% methylene laride 28% petroleum ether with a bp. 50 to 60 1% olein 1% Olive oil.
Example II: 69% methylene chloride 29% carbon tetrachloride 1% bone oil 1% butylene.
Example III: 74% methylene chloride 23% benzene 1% stearic acid 1% olive oil 1% linseed oil.
