Description

A method of erasing moires during reproduction by contact on a blank film with a lined surface of an image carried by another film with a lined surface. The object of the present invention relates to the process -d'erase moires during the. contact reproduction, on a blank film with a lined surface, of an image carried by another film with a lined surface, according to claim I of the main patent. According to the present invention, between the light source and the original film is interposed a film with a lined surface without a gelatin layer.

In the method described in the main patent, it is important that the network of lines. printed in the sensitive layer during the light im pressure through the embossing, is not destroyed at any point by the photographic operations proper, development, inversion or possible reinforcement. It is in fact the photogra phic network inscribed in the gelatin bromide layer of the film which serves as a real guide for the light brush in the phenomenon of erasure of the moire. In all the points where this network is destroyed by the photographic operations, the reproduction is effected as if one superimposed an embossed film looted from any photographic image on a blank embossed film.

It is obvious that in this case, the moires will appear since the light will originate from a more or less diffuse sheet, without any guidance coming from lines inscribed in the layer of Latin ge of the original. The process, which is the subject of the invention, makes it possible to reproduce even the film whose photographic network has been eroded at certain points by the photo graphic operations.

The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of a device for implementing the method according to the invention.

The single figure is a tick schematic view.

The device shown comprises at A a light source which may be constituted by a point source of rays which serve, passing through the condensing lens C, to illuminate the original film D to be reproduced. The film D to be reproduced has its gelatinized face disposed on the side of the light source, and is placed in contact by its other face with the virgin film E with linked lenticular embossing.

Between the condenser lens C and the original film D is interposed, in contact with the latter, a non-gelatinized film B. The lined lenticular embossed side of this film B is placed on the side:

of the light source and the axis of its streaks is approximately parallel to that of the streaks of films D and E. The light beam intended for the illumination of the film - to be reproduced, is such that the image of the source occupies all the points of the diameter of the emergence pupil P1 P2 of the objective used for printing the original film.

For this purpose it is possible to use either a rectilinear light source of elongated shape, the direction of which is perpendicular to the lenticular embossing, or else one. bottom mirror disposed in such a way between the light source and the original film that the direction of the light rays directed on the film will vary during the reproduction process.

The embossing of this auxiliary film will thus give in the plane of the image of the film to reproduce a real network of read lines. formed by the images of the source through the embossing. The auxiliary film embossed and stripped of its emulsion may be of the same length as the film to be reproduced; it may be short and form a loop that passes continuously during printing in the printer's scrolling device; it could finally be the size of a single image and simply stuck on the window of the printer. No precise pitch ratio is necessary between the various films.
