Drehkolbenbr ennkraftmasehine.

Rotary piston internal combustion engine. The invention relates to rotary piston internal combustion engines with pistons rotating in an annular space, which rotate alternately and are held, the respective held pistons forming the rear walls of the explosion chambers formed between two pistons.
The subject matter of the invention is characterized in that of two pistons working together, one piston is attached to a support disk and the second is attached to another support disk, each of which carries at least one pair of pistons, and that two counter-acting clutches are provided on each support disk, one of which, when the coupling engages, takes the shaft to be driven with it in the working direction, while the other comes into engagement with a fixed part of the housing, the whole in such a way,
that in the event of an explosion of the power means, the one support disk takes the shaft to be driven with it through its coupling with the shaft, while the other support disk is prevented from reversing movement by its coupling with a stationary part of the housing cooperating with it.
The drawing shows two execution examples of the subject matter of the invention and a detailed variant.
Fig. 1 shows a cross section through the first embodiment, Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section along the line A-C of Fig. 1; 3 shows part of the starting device of the first embodiment in cross section; Fig. 4 shows this part in plan; Fig. 5 shows a further part of this starting device in an enlarged reproduction in section; Fig. 6 shows part of Fig. 4 in perspective;
7 shows a detailed variant; 8 shows a coupling in cross section; 9 shows the coupling in plan view; Fig. 10 shows one of the movable coupling members in an enlarged view; Fig. 11 shows the second embodiment in cross section; Fig. 12 shows this embodiment in longitudinal section. For the sake of simplicity, only the lower part is shown, since the upper part is a mirror image.
Fig. 13 shows a hollow piston of this embodiment with part of the cooling device in an enlarged view.
As Fig. 2 shows, the housing of the machine is composed of parts 1, 2 and 5 together. Parts 1 and 5 respectively. 2 and 5 are firmly connected to one another by screws 4. The whole thing is held together by 3 screw bolts. The two housing parts 1 and 2 form an annular space 65 which is surrounded by a cooling jacket and has a circular cross-section, in which the pistons 60, 60a, 60b, 60c and 89, 89a, 89b, 89e rotate.
The first four pistons mentioned are arranged on a piston support disk 33 at a distance of 90 degrees. The pistons 89, 89a, 89b, 89c are fastened to a support disk 7 in the same way. The pistons are designed as full pistons and are placed on pins 64 of the support disks 7 and 33, onto which they are firmly screwed by means of a washer 62 and a nut 61.
On the piston from recesses 232 (Fig. 1) are provided to allow a closer convergence at an ignition point and thus a higher compression to it. The two support disks are rotatably mounted on the shaft 12 to be driven by means of ball bearings 31.
In order to seal the annular space 65 at the points where the support disks slide against each other, you are provided with sealing rings 66, and you are provided with sealing rings 58 and 67 to seal the annular space 65 at the points where the support disks are attached to the fixed Ge housing parts 1 and 2 slide. In addition, sealing rings 59 are used to seal against lubricating oil.
Each of the support disks 7 and 33 carries a bearing flange 28. In this, the outer part 27 of a coupling is rigidly drawn; the coupling is shown in detail in FIGS. 8 to 10. You be available from the outer part 27, from the inner part 24, which is fixed by means of wedges 25 on the shaft 12 to be driven. In Boh ments of the inside the shaft 12 directly driving part 24 are swingable GE superimposed coupling members 26 are used, which are provided with oil bores 195.
The coupling members 26 are dimensioned in such a way that the diameter M of the peg-shaped part 30 of the coupling member 26, the width N at the attachment point of the outer part on the part 30 and the length L relate to one another as 3: 2 : 7 , 5.
As FIG. 10 shows, each of the coupling members is rotatable about an axis of oscillation C. Its working surface forms part of a circle with the center A. This point A lies with the oscillation axis C on a common circular arc struck around the point C., but not in the oscillation axis. The eccentricity of axis A is to be selected so that the angle between the radial connection CID and the straight line CIE through the line of attack F of the coupling member is approximately 6 to 12 degrees.
The coupling member is expediently extended beyond the line of attack F by a piece, thereby preventing the attack edge from splintering. The coupling members are mounted with the pin-shaped parts 30 in the part 24.
In the inner coupling part 24 carriers 297 are used, these each carry a spring 299 which engages in a bore 98 of the coupling members 26 hitch. The spring is endeavoring to press the coupling members against the outer part 27 about their Schuringachse. The entire inner clutch just described is allowed to run in oil.
As can be seen in FIG. 9, when the outer part 27 is rotated counterclockwise, the movable coupling members engage, so that the inner coupling part 24 and with it the shaft 12 to be driven are taken along, but not in the other direction of rotation .
A flange 23, which is sealed by sealing rings 89 and 70 and a screw bushing 68, is drawn onto each support flange 28 on the outside by means of a wedge 29. In this flange 23, the outer part 22 of a coupling is used, which is formed in a similar way Licher as the coupling described. The movable coupling members of this coupling are marked with 17 and the inner coupling part with 16. This is mounted with the interposition of a bronze bushing 15 on the lower part 14 of the flange 23 and on the housing part 5 is rigidly attached. He also carries a ball bearing 8 with which the shaft 12 is supported.
The coupling is closed by a cover 21. For sealing against leaking 01, sealing packings 19 are inserted into this cover by means of a screw socket 18.
The two clutches fastened to each support disk are designed to act in opposite directions, namely in such a way that the two inner and the two outer clutches of the support disks act in the same way.
To seal the entire machine against escaping 0 1 , sealing rings 11 with retaining bushings 277 are provided, which are pressed on by cover 6. The required lubricating oil is fed to the machine through the channels 13 with a pump. It then runs through the whole bearing and couplings and is discharged via the line 113, in which a spring-loaded check valve of known type can be installed.
To start the machine, a driver disk 44 is provided between the two support disks and is rigidly attached to the shaft by means of wedges 45. This with slave disk 44 carries a T-shaped head on which cams 51 and 51 'offset from one another are provided on each side, as FIG. 4 shows. These cams each work together men with a nose 52 of a piston 47 which is inserted into a cylinder 46. The cylinder 46 is attached to the support disk 7.
A spring 49, which is inserted into a Boh tion 48 of the piston 47, seeks to get the nose 52 into engagement with one of the cams 51 BEZW. 51 'of the lifting disk 44. The piston 47 carries a pin 53 onto which a steel roller 54 is rotatably pushed. This steel roller works together with a guide rail 56 which is inserted into a recess 252 of the fixed housing part 2 and fastened in this by means of screws 57. The shape of this guide rail 56 can be seen from FIG. 6. It consists of a circle which is flattened at two points 171 and on the inside of which the roller 54 slides.
As soon as it gets from the round part of the guide into the flattened parts, its path is shortened. As a result, the Füh is approximately ring 54 and with it the nose 52 of the piston 47 is pressed down so that the cams 51 respectively. 51 'and the nose 52 come out of engagement. In Fig. 2, the nose 52 is only on one side. its remaining parts recognizable, while the nose 52 on the other side lies in another plane of the drawing.
Instead of the guide rail 56, the guide shown in FIG. 7 can also be seen before. In this, a groove is formed by two rails NEN 56 in which the steel pipes 54 slides. The otherwise circular groove is flattened at two points 171. Two such cam controls (FIGS. 3 to 7) are provided on each support disk. The cams are offset in such a way that a cam lies alternately on one or the other support disk at intervals of 90 °.
In order to generate the required compression when starting the machine, a special holding device is provided for each of the two housing parts 5. This BE is made up of a cam ring 180 raised on each part 23, which carries six cams 181. Several rollers 1.82 work together with this cam ring, each being carried by a bearing 183. The bearing 183 is attached to a rod 186 which is mounted in the housing 185. An adjustable by tightening the nut 189 relative to a spring plate spring 187 is striving to be the rod 186 and with it the roller 182 against the. Pressing cam ring.
The cams are distributed in such a way that the pistons are held in place each time at the points where the ignition is to take place by a cam 181 resting against the roller 182. As a result of the force exerted when starting by hand or by the starting unit, the respective effective cam 181 under the flexible roller 182 is pushed through. Another cam then runs at the next ignition point.
As soon as the machine starts, the role is thrown upwards due to the greater force and speed occurring here, and a spring-loaded bolt 188 of a latching device jumps into a recess 184 of the rod 186, so that the role is held up and out of action .
The two holding devices are offset from one another by 90. To introduce the air gas mixture and discharge the residual gases, six inlet valves 71 and six outlet valves 81 are provided, which are distributed over the circumference of the walls of the annular space 65. One inlet valve 72 and one outlet valve 81 each face one another. Each inlet valve 72 has a valve disk 74 which rests on the valve seat 80. The valve spindle 73 is attached to the valve plate 74.
A spring 75 is pushed onto this and is pressed together by means of a screw 77 and a spring plate 76. The Fe endeavors to press the valve disc onto its seat. The opening direction of the valve is selected so that the valve plate moves towards the annular space 65 when it opens. The air-gas mixture is supplied by means of the connection 79 to which the carburetors are connected. However, the supply nozzle can also be connected directly to a compressor.
Each of the outlet valves 81 also consists of a valve disk 87 which rests on the valve seat 86. A spring 85 is pushed onto the valve spindle 82, which by. a spring plate 83 and screws 84 is pressed together. The spring is loading. seeks to press the valve head 87 onto its seat; the opening direction of the valve is selected in such a way that the valve moves outwards when it opens. The residual gases are discharged through the connector 88.
The inlet valve 72 is opened by the negative pressure that forms during the suction movement of the pistons, while the outlet valves open due to the pressure of the residual gases. A special control of the valves is therefore not absolutely necessary. However, as shown in the exemplary embodiment, it can be made by means of a lever linkage. Cams 20 are then to be provided on the flange 23 for actuation. There are twelve inlet and outlet valves, three times more than pairs of pistons.
A pair of opposing spark plugs is arranged between every two pairs of valves, so that a total of six spark plug pairs 63, 63a, 63b, 63e, 63d, 63e are present. The excitation of these spark plugs he follows in a known manner, so that it is not described and shown here for the sake of clarity.
Since Fig. 1 shows a cross section through the middle of the machine, it shows only the holes leading to the exhaust valves. The valve circuits are therefore designated by 72. The smaller circles mean the spark plugs.
The way the machine works is as follows: As soon as the machine is to be started, the shaft 12 to be driven is rotated by hand or by means of an algae unit. The drive plate 44 also rotates as a result.
As soon as one of their cams, for example a cam 51 in a handle with a nose 52 on the support plate 7, the drive plate 44 takes this support plate and the Kol ben 89, 89a, 89b, 89e attached to it, and as soon as the piston over the The next ignition point have been turned away without the gas mixture igniting, the steel roller 54 comes to one of the flat points 171 of the guide rail, so that the nose 52 is pressed down, and the support disk 7 is consequently out of engagement with the cam 51 the drive plate comes.
Now one of the cams 51 'on the other side of the driver disc 44 engages with the nose 52 of the part of the starting device located on the support disc 33 (not shown because it is in a different plane) and takes the support disc 33 with it. After a predetermined distance, the support disk 33 is also released again. This work cycle is repeated until the gas mixture ignites.
As soon as this is the case, the support disks begin to rotate alternately so that they no longer need to be taken by the drive plate 44. However, this continues to rotate with the shaft 12, and its cams alternately come into and out of engagement with the lugs 53 on the piston 47. Since, however, there is no power transmission and the entire starting device is running under dirt, there is no appreciable wear.
However, as soon as the machine threatens to stop due to misfiring or overloading, the starting device comes into action again and takes the piston with it as a result of the accumulated centrifugal force until it is re-ignited.
When the machine starts up, as already mentioned, the holding devices for the pistons are also put out of action, since the rollers 182 are held up by the bolt 188 jumping into the recess 184 of the rod 186. - The actual work process of the explained machine takes place in the following way:
It is assumed that there is a compressed air gas mixture in the space 90 between the pistons 89 and 60, in the space 91 there is then an originally compressed air gas mixture, in the space 92 there is no air gas mixture or residual gas, in the space 93 residual gas, in the space 94 compressed air gas mixture, in the space 95 original compressed air gas mixture, in the space 96 no gas mixture or residual gas, and in the space 97 there is residual gas.
When the gas mixture explodes in the spaces 90 and 94, the pistons 60 and 60a are thrown further in the direction of the arrow and take the shaft 12 with them. However, the pistons 89 and 89a are prevented from backward movement. In what way the entrainment of the wave and the prevention of reverse movement come about, it will be explained later.
When the piston 60 moves forward (only this piston is considered here, since the others behave analogously), not only does the shaft 12 rotate, but this piston also simultaneously compresses the air-gas mixture in the space 91. Since it overflows the valves 72 and 81 right at the beginning of its movement, it is prevented that the outlet valve located in this space is pushed up by the overpressure that forms. A new compression chamber is formed, in which the spark plug 63b is located.
The piston 89b, which forms the front wall of this chamber, cannot move in the working direction, since the piston 89, which is fastened with it on the same support disk 7, is held in place by the counterpressure of the ejection gases. At the point in time at which the compression pressure of the new gases and the counter pressure rl, # r exploding gases have equalized, -3r- follows roughly the new ignition.
By setting the ignition timing, you can also determine the amount of compression arising at the same time.
Simultaneously with the movement of the piston 60, the piston 601) , seated with it on the same support disk 33, continues to move. As a result, a negative pressure arises in the space 92, by means of which the inlet valve located in this space is opened; so that new mixture is sucked in. In the space 93, however, an overpressure arises, through which the outlet valve located in this space is pushed open, so that the burned residual gases can escape.
This work cycle repeats itself cyclically. The first mixture and compression formation come about because the driver disk 44 rotates the support disks with the piston. Before starting the machine, however, the front wall each forming Kol ben is not held by the back pressure of the exploding gases on another Kol ben sitting with him on the same support disk.
Rather, this is achieved by the holding devices already described, the rollers of which rest against the cams 181 on the support disks.
The piston movement is transmitted to the shaft 12 and the pistons are held in place in the following manner: As soon as, for example, the piston 89 is thrown further in the working direction, the outer part 27 of the one coupling comes into engagement with the inside through the movable coupling members 26 Coupling part 24 which is attached to the shaft 12, so this is taken in the working direction. As soon as the piston 60, which forms the rear wall of the explosion chamber and is seated on the other support disk, attempts a backward movement, the outer coupling of this support disk comes into engagement with the housing part 5.
The support disc can therefore not rotate backwards with the piston attached to it. In the event of an explosion, each piston can rotate in the working direction while driving the shaft 12, but not in the opposite direction.
The second embodiment shown in FIGS. 11 and 12 agrees with regard to the principle, the formation of the couplings and the starting device, etc. essentially with the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2. The same parts are provided with the same transfer symbols. 91 is a cooling jacket. The pin 53 of the starting device is formed in a slightly different way. The pistons 60, 60a, and 89 and 89a are designed as hollow pistons.
In the machine according to FIGS. 11 and 12, however, only a single pair of pistons is provided on each of the support disks 7 and 33. As a result, the piston forming the front wall of the compression chamber, for example piston 89, is not held in place by the counter pressure of another with him sitting on the same piston support disk when the piston 60 approaches him and the gas mixture between the two pistons is compressed . It is therefore a special Halteein direction required for the formation of the compression. This has a cam disk 138 which is keyed onto part 23.
The outer surface of this cam disc carries a cam 141 with a rope contact surface in order to make the holding smooth. The cam disk works together with a cylinder 137, in whose fork-shaped end a roller 139 is inserted by means of a bolt 1-40. This, like the counter roller 139 ', is expediently covered with rawhide for noise reduction. The cylinder 137 can be pressed more or less against the cam 141 by means of a resilient disk 134 and an adjusting wheel 135. All adjusting wheels 135 are expediently connected to one another by any kinematic means.
so that the cylinders 137 arranged according to the distribution of the ignition points can be adjusted from one point.
From FIG. 12, the connection pieces 172 and 172a for the inlet valves and the connection pieces 1.73 and 173a for the outlet valves can also be seen. 63 and 68a are the spark plugs which are each connected to a magneto ignition. The valves and spark plugs are controlled by means of a lever linkage and the Kok ken 20, 156 and 157, which are pulled onto the coupling part 23.
Furthermore, special cooling devices are in this form of execution before fellows. The coolant, for example 01, is supplied through the pipe 199, runs through the various couplings and bearings and, as a result of the centrifugal force, passes through the line 1.60 into the interior of the pistons, which are completely or almost completely filled with oil are filled. In each piston from a running device 161 is provided. The oil is thrown into this drainage device due to the inertia caused by the jerk when the piston is held and then flows through the line 162 into an oil groove 177. The oil flows out of this oil groove through the line 178 and the elbow tube 179.
13 shows a hollow piston of the second embodiment with the drain device on a larger scale. From the running device has a funnel 161 which occupies approximately the full width of the piston cavity. The opening of the funnel is opposite to the direction of rotation of the piston, so that when the piston stops, the 01 is thrown into the funnel due to its persistence. The discharge line 162 is connected to the funnel 161.
In order to prevent the oil from flowing back through the drain line, a ball valve 280 is built into it, which only allows the oil to drain, but blocks the inlet, and a cone valve 281 is also provided in the supply line 160, the one undesirable oil. Flow prevented through this line. The piston rings are designated 164 and 165.
The way the machine works is as follows; The starting process takes place in a manner similar to that in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2. As soon as the retaining plate 138 belonging to the piston 60 and 60a runs up with its cam 1-11 on the roller 139 of the cylinder 137, -be the previously pushed in front of the piston 89 and 89a Kol ben 60 and 60a stood by the friction resistance and the contact pressure held between the cam 141 and the roller 139 so that the compression occurs.
If, in accordance with the setting of cylinder 137, a compression pressure of, for example, r) to 8 atmospheres is reached, ignition takes place. The explosion pressure hurls the two pistons 60 and 603 in the direction of the arrow, while overcoming the holding effect, which take the shaft 12 with them in the same way as described in FIGS. 1 and 2, while the other two pistons are in the the same way as recorded in Figs.
The residual gases are pushed out through the outlet valves 173 and 173a. The pistons that are still in motion compress the mixture that has been blown in or sucked in again, and pistons 89 and 89a are now held by the holding device. The work cycle is then repeated. The valves are controlled, as Brie already mentioned, with the aid of cams 20, 156 and 157.
Any desired compression can be achieved by adjusting the ignition point and regulating the holding pressure.
The reference symbols in the claims are only indicative, but not characterizing.
