Iron ebomins ti-aisle control facility. The present invention relates to an installation for the control of traffic, of railroads, that is to say an installation for controlling traffic control devices, such as points and signals, < B> from a remote location, this installation being charac terized in that the traffic control devices are arranged to be called from from a location order, each,
by means of a pair of conductors also serving to transmit indications to indicate that said apparatus has been activated.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, to by way of example, a-Li accompanying drawing, which shows a diagram thereof.
In the installation shown, the rails 1, ] a of a main railway line Y n are connected by means - from a needle F, to a branch line Z. A section of rails A - B is isolated from adjacent parts of line Y and branch Z by means of insulating joints < B> 9- Section AB is provided with a rail circuit comprising a battery 3 connected to the rails near one end of the section, and a track relay G connected to the rails near the other end of the section.
Zions S 'and S' are provided to control traffic on needle F in the direction to the right, as shown in the drawing, signals S 'and S' serving similarly to control the traffic in the opposite direction. Signals S ' and S' control traffic on needle F to its normal position, as shown, along route Y only, and the signals S and S 'control the traffic - on the needle F diverted to the Z branch, or coming, respectively. Each of these signals is of the to semaphore type.
Signals S ', S', S ' and S' actuate contacts 54, 52, 49 and 48 respectively, each of which is closed when its signal shows only an indication of ,, on A polarized needle relay T is controlled by the intermediary of conductors 6 < / B> and 19, by a Y ' lever having two positions, to namely that n on the left and that r on the right, as shown to the drawing. Lever V 'operates two cantacts 4 and 17, each of which is closed, while lever V' is at its position n, and two contacts 18 < / B> and 20, each of which is closed when the lever V 'is at its position r.
The relay, T comprises, as as is common in terms of signaling, so-called "Neutral" to contacts controlled by neutral armatures, 10, 27, 28, and so-called, polarized contacts "ga-gb and 2ga-29b to, controlled by polarized armatures. When the relay is energized by a current of either polarity, that is to say not in one or the other direction, the neutral armatures are attracted and control the corresponding contacts.
The polarized armatures of the relay located in the drawing under the neutral armatures are moved in one direction or the other according to the polarity or the direction of flow of the current brought to the relay. When the relay T is traversed -by a current - . in either direction, the neutral armatures controlling the contacts 10, 27, 28 are attracted.
When the relay T is crossed by a current of normal polarity, the polarized armatures close the polarized contacts ga and 29a, while when the relay is crossed by a current of reverse polarity, the contacts qb and 29b will be closed by the polarized frames.
The relay T is still combined with an auxiliary contact to controlled by a movable contact part 21 which is not subjected to the direct action of the relay, but is separated from its underlying contact with which it is connected. coo father, by the contact part or armature 10 when this one is attracted by the relay.
Consequently, when the relay T is de-energized, said auxiliary contact is closed by the contact piece 2,1 located at its lower position because the contact piece 10 </ B > is in its lower position in which it is out of engagement with the key part 21 when the relay T is energized, the part of the contact 10 then lifted engages with the contact part 21 to lift it from the underlying cooperating contact piece. It can thus be seen that the contact at 10 is closed before the contact at 21 is interrupted.
Relay T is energized in the normal or reverse direction depending on whether lever V 'is moved to its position n or to its position r'. "espectively.
The needle F can be actuated by any suitable device, for example by an electric motor. The circuits to cause this motor to move the needle F to its normal or inverted position sout controlled by contacts 29a and 29b respectively, of the relay T. These circuits are well known and for this we do not need to represent them in the drawing.
The needle F actuates a contact member 30 which, when the needle F is at its normal position, engages with a contact 30a, and, when the needle is reversed, engages contaet 30b. The needle F also actuates a contact member 31 which similarly engages with a contact 3la when the needle F is in its normal position, and engages with a contact 31b < / B> when the needle is returned.
A contact member 8 also actuated by the needle F, engages a contact 8a when the needle is at its normal position, and engages permanently with a segment 8b, except when the needle is in its normal position. A fourth contact member, 2 # 5, actuated by the needle engages a contact 25a when the needle is at its inverted position, and permanently engages with a segment < B> 25b. CI el except when the needle is at its reversed position.
When the direction of excitation of relay T is reversed, the working contacts 10, 27 and 28 of relay T first open. The relay T then comes to be energized in the opposite direction by means of a recovery circuit which is completed by its auxiliary -contact 21. The contact in 10 then opens and the contact qb closes in completing a local retention circuit for relay T by contact 25-25b of needle F.
When Vaiauille obeys the reverse excitation of relay T, the local retention circuit just mentioned is interrupted at contact 25, 25b. </ B> T'n second reverse restraint circuit for relay T containing conductors 6 and 12 is then completed by contact 25-25a of needle F.
When the lever V 'is moved in the opposite direction from position r to position n, relay T opens its -contacts again 10, 27 </ B> and 28 -and will then be excited by a circuit (the reverse recovery via its auxiliary meal contact M. When the relay T closes its normal contact ga, the normal excitation of relay T persists by means of a local de circuit retained by the intermediary of contact 8-8b until let the airbrush come and open the contact 8-8b The aid ('u.
ille F then closes contact 8-8b , thus completing a second normal relay circuit containing conductors 6 and 12.
In the event that any obstruction would prevent the complete movement of the needle F depending on a change of direction - of the excitation - of the T relay, the excitation - of the T relay persists through the local containment circuit. A main relay t can then be energized by returning the lever V 'to its opposite position. When relay t is energized, it opens its contact 11 interrupting the local restraint circuit for relay T, which in in turn interrupts, by the opening of its contact 27, the relay circuit.
The recovery circuit serving to then energize the relay T, is completed by its contact 21. The current is then brought to the control motor of the needle to bring back the aid ( to the corresponding normal position. t, The needle F can thus be moved backwards and forwards thus perhaps forcing the obstacle to to disappear and allowing -to complete the ac - operation of the needle to the desired position.
A slow-acting NC recovery relay is connected, in series with the T relay when the T relay is supplied, via the wires 6 and 12, by its normal or reverse take-up circuit, or by its second normal circuit or its second reverse carry circuit. When the lever V 'is at its normal position, the NC relay controls an indicator shown here in the form of an electric lamp e', and when the lever V 'is reversed, the relay commands an indicator lamp e '. The recovery time of the NC relay is approximately equal to or greater than the time required by the T relay to reverse its pole contacts and open its auxiliary contact 21.
This prevents the lighting of lamps e 'or e', while the respective recovery circuits of relay T are closed. Therefore, the lamp e 'or e 2 only glows when the second normal circuit or the second reverse hold circuit, respectively, for the relay T, is closed.
A signal relay H is controlled by a lever V 'which can occupy a left position j /, a middle position m and a right position r. The lever V 'occupies, as shown in the drawing, its position în and controls two contacts 33 and 58 , each of which is closed when the lever V2 occupies its position n , then a contact 56 which is closed when the lever V 'occupies its position m and finally two contacts 35 and 59 each of which is closed when the lever occupies its position r.
Signal relay H is provided with contacts 37 and 43 similar to contacts 21 and 10, respectively, of needle relay T. Relay H is controlled by recovery and carry circuits which are, in general. similar respectively to the recovery and retention circuits for relay T.
A relay L is controlled by contacts 54, 52, 49 and 48 of signals S ', S', S ' and S 'respectively, in parallel, and will therefore be energized when any of these signals is set to free ", and is de-energized when all these signals indicate ,, stop'4.
A main relay h is controlled similarly to relay t by the movement of the lever V ' to its position n or r. The relay h is also controlled by the movement of the lever V ' to its position m. Contacts 42a and 49 # b actuated by relay L control the circuits for relays h and H, generally similar to the way the contacts do. actuated by the needle F controls the cores for relays t and T, respectively.
A to slow action NS recovery relay whose recovery time is similar to that of the _yF relay, is ordered similarly to the le, l ,% is NF and is connected in series with the relay T. The relay NS controls the indicator lamp ê 'or the one e 4 Next that the lever V 'occupies its position n or r, respectively.
Relay II controls through its contact- 47a the signal S ' or that S' depending on whether contact 30-30a or contact 30-30b of the needle P </ B > is closed. The H -com relay uses its contact 47b to send the signal S ' or signal 82 depending on whether contact 31-3la or cantact 31-31b de Faiauille F is closed.
The circuits for such control of the signals S ', S', S 'and S' are well known, and have therefore been omitted from the drawing.
The lever V 'and its associated indicator lamps e' and e 'as well as the lever V2 and its associated indicator lamps e3 and e' can be placed together with other control devices. points and of signals in a central post, for example in the post of the traffic supervisor. Depending on whether the lamp e 'or the lamp e' lights up, the monitor can realize whether the needle F is at its normal position or to its deviation position.
When a train enters section -A-B, contact 7 of relay G opens and, consequently, the NC relay de-energizes. Both lamps e 'and e' will then both be off, indicating to the supervisor that a train is in section A - B. By finding out whether the lamp e3 or the lamp e 'is on, and whether the switching lever V' is in its n or r position, the supervisor will be able to find out whether one of the signals and which indicates, free way ".
Batteries Q ' and Q' supply the installation at points adjacent to the levers V 'and V2, and batteries Q' and Q ' supply the installation with points adjacent to to, guille F. A battery Q ' supplies current to actuate relay L.
The operation -of the installation described is as follows: In the drawing, all the parts are shown -in their normal position, that is to say the lever V ' at its position w, lever V ' to its position in. Needle F is at its normal position, each of the signals indicates stop, and track section A-B is unoccupied. Since section A-B is unoccupied, release G is excited.
The lever V 'being at its position n and the relay G being energized, the relay T is energized by its second normal holding circuit going from the battery < B> Q ' by contact 4 of lever V', wire 5, the coil of relay NC, </ I > line wire 6, contact 7 of relay Cr, contact 8-8a of needle F, con tacts ga and 10 of relay T, contact Il of relay t, coil of relay T -and wire 12 and wire 13 to terminal 60 of battery Q '. The relay NC is energized by the current passing through this circuit.
The lever V 'being at its position n and the relay NC energized, la. lamp e 'is lit by means of. its circuit going from the battery Q ' through wires 14 and 15, the eonfact 16 of the NC relay, the contact 17 of lever V, the lamp e # and lead 19 to the terminal 60 of the battery Q '.
If the supervisor now wishes to return needle F, he will put lever V ' to its position r. Contact 10 -of relay 10 then drops, allowing contact 2.1 of relay T to close and complete the reverse recovery circuit of the relay T going from battery Q ' through terminal 60, wires 13 and 12, coil of relay T, contact < B> 1.1 of relay 1, contact 21 of relay T-, wire 22, contact 7 of relay G, wire 6, relay coil NF, on wire 5 and contact 20 -from lever V ' to the battery.
Relay T now reverses its pole contacts by closing to its contact qb its first reverse-restraint circuit going from battery Q ' through terminal 44, wire 23, the coil of relay T, contact 11 of relay t, the contact 10 of relay T, the con tact qb of relay T, wire 24, contact of needle F - and wire 26 to battery Q '. Contact 29b < / B> 4u relay T being closed, needle F is set to its reversed position.
Just before reaching this position, needle F interrupts at contact 25 -: 9,5b the first reverse restraint circuit for relay T, and then completes the second via contacts 25-25a. Reverse restraint circuit for relays T, running from battery Q ' through terminal 60. The wires 13, 12, la.
coil of relay T, contact 11 of relay t, contacts 10 and qb of relay T, wire 2-1, contacts 25-25a, contact < B> 7 of relay G, wire 6, the coil of relay NC, the wire 5 and contact 20 of the lever to the battery Q ', The current in this second reverse restraint circuit for the relay T excites the NC relay. When the * yF relay is exo, ity,
the lamp e 'is lit by the current passing - from battery Q' through wires 14 and 15, contact 16 of relay NC, </ B> contact 18 of lever 2il,
lamp e 'and wire 19 to terminal 60 of battery Q'. - It will now be assumed that needle Y- is again at its normal position and that the supervisor wishes to reverse the needle. He then uses lever VI to its position r thus causing the excitation of the relay T by its reverse recovery circuit as previously drawn, and the complete T relay when it is energized in this way soli first restraint circuit reverse as indicated above.
If any obstruction now prevents full movement of the P needle to the deflection position, relay T will be kept energized by its first holdback circuit. The NC relay therefore remains de-energized and 19, lamp is disabled, thus indicating to the supervisor that the movement of the needle towards its position (the deviation is not completed.
The supervisor will then return the lever Y ' to its position ii, so that the relay t is activated by its recovery circuit going from the battery Q '' by contact 4 of lever VI the wire 5, the coil of the relay NC, the wire 6, the contact 7 of relay G, wire 22, contact 27 of relay T, coil of relay 1, </ B> contact 91) of relay T, wire 24, contacts 25-251) of needle F, wire 26, </ B > battery Q4 # terminal 44 and wires 23,
12 and 13 to the battery Q '. Relay t then opens its contact 11 by interrupting the first restraint circuit in verse for relay T which then opens its contact 27 and interrupts the circuit for relay T which has just been drawn.
The normal recovery circuit for relay 1 is now completed to from battery Q ', by contact 4 of lever VI. the wire 5, the coil of the relay NC, the wire 6, the contact 7 of the relay G, wire 22, contact 9-1 of relay T, contact, It </ B> of relay 1, the coil of relay T, and wires 12 and 13 to battery Q '. Relay T will then close its contact 9a so as to complete its first normal restraint circuit passing from the battery Q ' through the contacts 8-8b </ B> of needle F, contacts ga and 10 of relay T,
the contact 11 of relay t, the coil of relay T, and wire 23 to battery Q ". With relay T energized in Normal direction, the normal control of the needle is completed by contact 29a of relay T, and the needle is returned to its normal position.
The supervisor can then return the lever VI to its position r to cause the needle to move to its deflection position.
It may very well be that as a result of the previous movements of the needle, the obstacle which prevented the needle from reaching its full deflection position has now been removed and the needle F can be brought in completely. B> to its deviation position.
If the obstacle has not been removed, which is indicated by the fact that the lamp e 'is not lit, the supervisor can then repeat the actuation of the needle by making it hand. #work so that it is moved from one position to and back as often as desired, to remove the obstacle. It will now be assumed that the relay Ir is energized in the reverse direction and that the needle F occupies its deflection position and that for some reason the needle moves from its deflection position thus interrupting at contact 25-25a the second reverse carry circuit for the T.
The first reverse holding circuit for relay T will then be completed at contact 25-25b thus causing a tendency of the needle to to return to its deflection position.
It will now be assumed that the supervisor desires when the needle is at its normal gait position.
it moves to there. position the lever from V ' to its position n, thus completing a normal recovery circuit for relay H going from battery Q' through wires 14, and 32 , the switch 33 of the lever r, the coil of the relay NS. the wire 36, the contact 37 of relay H, contact 38 of relay h, coil of relay X and wires 39, 23, 12 and 13 to battery Q '. Relay H,
who gets excited thus, interrupts at his contact 37 the recovery circuit that has just been drawn, and completes at his contact 43 his first normal restraint circuit going from the. battery Q ' via wire 40, contact 40ft of relay H, contact 42b of relay L, contact 43 of relay H, contact 38 of relay h, the coil of the relay H and the wire 39 to the battery Q '.
With relay I-1 now energized in the normal direction and needle F at its normal position, the signal arm S ' will be actuated so to come and occupy the "on" position, in which it closes by its contact 49 a circuit for the relay L not including the battery Q ' by the contact 49 of the signal S ', the wires 50 and 55 and the coil of the relay L to the battery Q'. </ B> When relay L is energized, it opens at its contact 42b the first normal restraint circuit which has been -already drawn for relay H and closes to its contact 42 has the second normal restraint circuit for relay H going from battery Q ', through wires 14 and 32,
the conta-et 33 of the lever V ', the coil of the relay NS, the wire 36, the contact 42a of the relay L, relay H contact 43, relay h contact 38 , relay H coil> and wires 39, 23, 12 and 13 to battery Q '. The current of the second normal restraint circuit for relay H causes relay NS to close its contact 57, thus completing the lamp ignition circuit, passing from the battery Q ' through wires 14 and 32, the contact 57 < / B> of relay NS, contact 58 of lever V '. the lamp e ' " and the lead 19 to the battery Q'.
If the lamp e 'is not on, when the supervisor has set the lever V2 to its position îî, the supervisor is informed that the signal S' has not activated. relay L is, therefore, always de-energized, and relay H is still energized by its first normal restoring circuit. The supervisor can now return lever V ' to its position m, thus completing a recovery circuit for relay h, passing from battery Q' through wire 40 , contact 4la of relay H, contact 41b of relay L. contact 45 of relay H, la.
coil of relay Ii., wire 36, the coil of relay NS, contact 56 of lever V ', and wires 12 and 13 to battery Q '. Relay h opens when energized, its contact 38 thus interrupting the first holding circuit for the relay H \ which then opens, after its de-energization, contact 45, causing relay h to de-energize. If the supervisor so wishes, he can then put the lever V 'back to its position n, to try once again to put the signal S' at the position of, mar # che ".
It will now be assumed that the supervisor has succeeded in putting the signal S 'in the on position "and has left the lever' V 'in the n position in order to keep the signal arm S 'at the "on" position.
It will also be assumed that, for some reason, the signal arm falls out of its on position "thereby de-energizing relay L. With relay L de-energized, the second normal restraint circuit for relay H is de-energized. interrupted at contact 42a of relay L, and the first normal restoring circuit for relay H is again amplified at contact 42b of relay L. The relay NS is now de-energized and,
consequently, the lamp e 'goes out, thus indicating to the supervisor that the signal S' has ceased to indicate the on position ".
In order to bring the signal S 'to the position of, on ", the supervisor will place the lever V' to its position r by completing thus the reverse recovery circuit for relay H to by firing the battery Q ' through wires 13, 12, 23 and < B> 39, the coil of relay H, contact 38 of relay h, contact 37 of relay H wire 36, </ B> the.
coil of relay N8, contact 35 of vier V2 and wire 34 to battery Q '. Relay H is now energized in the reverse direction and closes, therefore, its contact 41b so to complete its first reverse holding circuit going from battery Q4 through wire 39, the coil of relay H, contact 38 (read relay h, contact 43 of relay H, contact 42b of relay L and contact 41b from relay H to battery Q '. Contact 47b of relay H and contact 31-3la of needle P Now being closed, the signal arm S 'will be moved to the on position ".
When the signal arm 81 reaches the on position ", the relay L will be de-energized by its circuit going from the battery Q ' by the wires 51 < / B> and 53, contact 54 of signal L , and the coil of relay L to battery Q '.
The second reverse restraint circuit for the Il relay is now closed from the battery Q2 by the wires 13, 12, 23 and 319 #, coil of relay 11, contact 38 -of relay h, contact 4.3 (read relay H, contact 42a of relay L , wire 36, the coil of the relay NS, the contact 35 (read lever F ', and wire 34 to the battery Q '. Consequently, the YS relay is energized and closes the ignition circuit of the lamp passing from the battery Q' through the wires - </ B> 14 and 32, contact 57 of relay NS, contact 59 </ B > of the Y 'lever,
the lamp e 'and the lead 19 to the battery Q'.
It follows from the foregoing description that in the installation described a lamp is constantly on when the needle F occupies its normal position, and a second lamp is constantly on when the needle occupies its normal position. its deviation position. In addition a lamp will be constantly on when one of the signals placed on one side of the needle indicates, free way ", and a second lamp will be constantly on when one of the signals on the other side of the al- (ruillage indicates, way clear ".
