Procedure for the production of eating mass. In the manufacture of the resin-like condensation products of aldehydes, especially formaldehyde and its polymers with various organic substances such as phenols, amines, acid amides, etc., the mixture of starting materials is generally used until now The corresponding catalyst is heated until a thick to solid resin product is formed when it cools,
which is then either crushed and pressed or, if necessary, mixed with fillers and dyes in appropriate mixing machines and only then pulverized and shaped in the hot press.
However, this process is very cumbersome, especially if you want to achieve a large degree of impregnation of the fillers with the resin to achieve a high chemical and mechanical resistance of the pellets, since in this case the resin is used in the lowest possible polymerization stage must be and its further polymerisation until it is ready for pressing can only take place by subsequent heating.
This deficiency is countered by a number of other processes, which are based in principle on the fact that the resins arise from their colloidal solutions, as they arise in the condensation of aldehydes in aqueous solution with the organic substances mentioned above, with stabilizing factors during or after the condensation has taken place (for example OH-ions) can be added, are coagulated by Elektrolytlösun.gen. Fillers can be mixed with the resin sol before flocculation and then precipitated together with the resin.
The masses produced in this way can already be pulverized and pressed after a short drying period, thereby producing extremely homogeneous shaped pieces. The disadvantage of this method, however, is that you have to work in very dilute solutions and then not add significant amounts of electrolytes, which are adsorbed by the coagulating resin and are not removed, or only removed again to a small extent, even by repeated subsequent washing can.
This has an adverse effect on the electrical properties of the finished products, which are primarily used in insulation technology.
The subject of the present invention is a method by means of which it is possible to avoid all of these inconveniences.
It was observed that the resin-like condensation products mentioned can be precipitated by colloids, in particular from their concentrated colloidal solutions. Here they also precipitate from the solutions of their initial condensation products, as they are obtained after a short reaction time, in such largely polymerized form that they become solid at room temperature, but still plastic when heated and only swell more in organic solutions and after a short drying time, which can take place at normal or elevated temperature,
pulverized and hot-pressed. According to the invention, even colloidal solutions of resinous condensation products, including their liquid initial condensation products, can be used as flocculants. Surprisingly, it was found that the occurrence of mutual precipitation in the case of the resin products is not tied to the condition for general colloidal coagulation, that the colloids flocculate each other and must be of opposite electrical charge.
Yes, it has even been shown that particularly favorable results are achieved if only acidic colloidal solutions of the resinous condensation products are mixed with one another and. .The mixing ratio is chosen such that the flocculation threshold in the acidic area is reached.
Since the sense of charge and the charge size of the resin brine with the same starting materials also depend on the nature and the amount of the catalyst used in the condensation, the quantity ratio of the mutually precipitating colloids can also be determined by choosing the catalyst and its amount certain limits are varied depending on the nature of the colloids in question.
To achieve curable end products, it is sufficient if 50% of the components can be converted into the insoluble and infusible state by heating.
A particular advantage of the present invention is that the choice of the flocculent colloid also makes it possible to impart special properties to the resinous condensation products. The elasticity of these products can be significantly improved by using colloidal solutions of elasticizing substances such as casein, fatty oils, cellulose esters and the like as flocculants.
The light resistance of the resin-like condensation products from phenols with aldehydes can be increased by using colloidal solutions of resin-like condensation products from aldehydes with acid amides, such as toluene sulfamide, carbamide, oxamide and the like, as loosening agents.
. Depending on whether or not they are able to form solid solutions with one another from flocculent colloids, the result after pressing is transparent or more or less cloudy products. It is therefore in the hand of choosing the flocculant to produce transparent products.
Fillers and dyes can, if appropriate, be mixed with one or both of the colloidal solutions before coagulation and then precipitated together with the resin. In this way, extremely homogeneous molding compounds are created.
Embodiments: 1. 100 grams of cresol, 80 grams of an approximately 37 weight percent aqueous formaldehyde solution and 10 cm 2 N sodium hydroxide solution are kept boiling for 30 minutes and afterwards. The addition of 20 cm 2 N hydrochloric acid continues to heat until the initially completely clear solution begins to slightly opalesce.
This colloidal solution of the resinous initial condensation product is mixed warm with the urea resin hydrosol obtained by acidic condensation of 75 grams of urea with 225 grams of formaldehyde and allowed to cool while stirring well. The mixed solution gradually becomes more viscous with simultaneous cloudiness and finally the resin separates from the water as a coarse powder.
After the water has been squeezed out, the resin product is finely ground in a ball mill after drying for about one hour at about 50 ° C in a vacuum drying cabinet and, when pressed, results in pale yellow-brown colored, transparent moldings.
2. In place of the curable cresol resin in Example 1, the initial condensation product of the novolak obtained with acidic condensation of 100 grams of cresol with 80 grams of formalin is used. The result is a curable product. The compacts produced from this have the same appearance as those from Example 1.
3. 100 grams of phenol, <B> 135 </B> -r formalin and 5 grams of formic acid are preserved in the boil until a weak opalescence occurs and warm with the condensation of 100 grams of p-toluenesulfamide with the equimolecular amount Resin sol recovered from formalin ver sets with thorough stirring. The granular resin product, separated from the water, produces light-colored, well-light-resistant, transparent moldings when processed in the hot press.
4. The warm resin sol produced according to Example 1 from 100 g of creole is admixed with 100 g of wood flour and 100 cm of a concentrated aqueous solution of cheese, with thorough stirring. The mass, separated from the water after cooling, is dried on a drum dryer, pulverized and hot-pressed. These pressed pieces are characterized by their particular elasticity.
5. The procedure is as in Example 3, but before mixing, the phenolic resin solution is mixed with 150 g of bleached cellulose and the resin made from p-toluenesulfamide is mixed with 70 g of Lithopon. In this way, a compound is obtained which, when pressed, produces white, opaque molded pieces.
