Description

Process for producing an asphalt pavement with a lighter color compared to the color of normal asphalt. The known asphalt pavements are dark gray to black in color, and as a result, they are very poorly lit and not visible to traffic at night and especially in rainy weather at night.

This inconvenience is remedied by the method according to the present invention by using a powdery whitening material, for example metal or glass powder, which is preferably applied to the surface of the usual asphalt pavement in order to include a pavement surface. lighter in color.

As mentioned, the material is distributed in powder form, for example in dust, sand or even coarser form, and it can be applied in one of these forms alone or in several mixed forms. Different grain sizes of the material can also be applied one after the other. The material, for example metal powder, is expediently sprinkled or rubbed into the hot asphalt before or after it is brushed or rolled; it can also be sprinkled on while the covering is being compressed.

Furthermore, the metal powder can also be added to the asphalt mass during its preparation.

The main metal used is aluminum, but other metals can also be used. but Gla is also suitable for these purposes.

The material adhering to the surface of the asphalt pavement gives the latter a greater roughness, thus reducing the possibility of road users slipping and also increasing the resistance of the pavement to wear and tear.
