Method and device for operation, in particular for starting injection engines. The present invention relates to. a method and a device for operating, in particular for starting, injection motors using compressed air and fuel
The invention is particularly advantageous for locomotives with the axles not releasably coupled injection motor as an engine. With these it is a matter of starting from any crank position with a torque that is about four times the normal torque of the motor and maintaining a greatly increased torque during the entire time required to accelerate the train. The invention enables motor locomotives to manage with a very small air tank and a very small starting air compressor.
According to the method of operation, in particular for starting such injection engines according to the invention, compressed air is simultaneously supplied during a first part of the expansion stroke and fuel is injected without the aid of compressed air, and the mixture is mixed in a cylinder provided. Ignition device ignited.
In this way, it is possible to start up from the cold: and resting state with immediate onset of compressed air burns.
In the case of locomotives with a compressed air compressor driven by an auxiliary motor, the method allows compressed air and fuel to be operated for any length of time, as opposed to starting the locomotives with compressed air. Because with pure compressed air operation the work done by the compressed air in the main motor is less than the work of the compressor. Only at very low speeds of the main motor will the auxiliary motor, which drives the compressor, perform a greater work than the main motor due to its higher speed consumed. When the main engine reaches a certain speed at which the train has not yet reached sufficient acceleration,
- the auxiliary engine can no longer obtain the compressed air required to operate the main engine and you are forced to switch to fuel operation, the diagram of which can only be enlarged slightly. The main motor can, however, work for any length of time in the compressed air / fuel mode according to the invention, since it generates more energy with a quantity of compressed air than the air compressor requires for its compression. So you can accelerate faster, or with the same acceleration you can get by with a smaller main machine.
With such locomotives, the method naturally enables the torque to be increased by supplying compressed air before and during the combustion even when there is increased resistance while driving, without the need to reduce the air supply, as the auxiliary motor can supply the necessary air .
It has already been proposed to set a blower diesel machine with compressed air in motion by simultaneously with the compressed air injects fuel through the usual atomization device, which should burn immediately ver.
However, this proposal has not yet been implemented. As a result of the inevitable leaks in the piston; the final compression pressure and thus the ignition temperature is not reached at low speeds. In addition, the compression heat is partly transferred to the cold; Walls delivered.
Since the machines work with air injection, there is also the fact that in the air injection device in front of the valve an injection pressure v,) n of at least 60 atm. must be maintained in order to ensure that the fuel oil is blown in after the compressed air has been switched off, so that this air is at least 30 atm. when passing through the injection valve into the working cylinder. had to expand and cooled down accordingly.
The low air heat in the cylinder as a result of the successful compression, the cooling on the wall and the cold blown air mean that ignition is impossible within a speed range of around 0 to 20% of full speed, even with the use of special aids, so that the Ver drive especially for locomotive engines. That are permanently coupled to the driving axles. because of the low initial speeds and the high torque required for locomotives. cannot come into question at all.
Mainly for these reasons, the starting of injection diesel engines with compressed air with simultaneous injection of fuel n ac 'h v - vain attempts to abandon. ZD The accompanying drawing illustrates exemplary embodiments of the device according to the invention, on the basis of which the method, for example, is to be explained in the following.
FIGS. 2 and 2a show parts of two mutually perpendicular, axial sections through the cylinder of a vertical machine with direct injection into the combustion chamber.
Each cylinder of the engine has an injection nozzle b, fed by its own fuel pump a which introduces the fuel into the cylinder without the aid of compressed air injection, an inlet valve c, an outlet valve d, a Ignition device e and a compressed air inlet valve f.
The ignition device expediently consists of an electrically heated incandescent igniter made of a poorly conductive, non-metallic substance, for example siliconurocarbide; this is because it is sufficiently insensitive that it does not become ineffective when liquid fuel is sprayed on or when cold air is blown on.
There is a non-return valve g in the compressed air line upstream of the air pressure relief valve. which prevents the penetration of combustion gases into the compressed air tank when the starter valve f is opened if a higher combustion pressure occurs.
The working piston has a downwardly arched bottom so that oil thrown onto the working piston is churned up by the compressed air flow and fed to the ignition device. h are exhaust slots, behind which a non-return flap is attached, which is loaded by a spring, so that it remains closed even when charging air is introduced and is only opened by the combustion gases when starting the engine and operating the compressed air fuel.
The device is preferably designed in such a way that the injected oil is immediately picked up by the air flow and thrown onto the ignition device with atomization. When the starting air valve f is opened, a small part of the oil charge can already be upstream in the cylinder at such a point that it is captured and atomized by the air flow. The remaining part of the amount of fuel to be introduced must then be injected simultaneously with the introduction of the compressed air.
In this way, you can achieve a diagram with so little air consumption that even if the air pump is not efficient enough, more external work is done than. is consumed at the same time in the air pump. In this way, it is possible to get by with an extremely low compressed air tank and to replace the air again and again by the compressor even for a long start-up time in a loaded state.
In the following .soll with reference to FIG. 1, which represents a clockwise rotation ent speaking crank diagram, the operation of the device described above will be explained, for example. The angle a is the pre-injection angle and be carries about 20, which denotes the beginning of the fuel introduction into the cylinder. The post-injection angle ss is up to 90 for starting. The starting air control allows the compressed air to flow into the cylinder starting at dead center and up to the middle of the working stroke.
In normal operation, i.e. without compressed air, the regulator allows fuel to be supplied for 20.
To start a multi-cylinder four-stroke machine in compressed air fuel mode, the starter valve must be switched on after the ignition device has been switched on.
Compressed air combustion will then take place in those cylinders in which the piston is on the first half of the working stroke. In another cylinder, whose piston performs a normal compression stroke, for example, a little fuel pin is injected at the end of the compression stroke, but it either does not ignite at all or ignites so late that a reverse torque cannot occur.
It is not necessary to control the fuel pump for starting and for pressurized fuel operation differently than in normal operation. However, the fuel pump is advantageously oversized.
In normal operations, the controller in stationary machines or the driver in vehicle machines, by cutting off the effective pump stroke in good time, ensures that only the fraction of the possible delivery rate corresponding to the load on the machine is injected, while the full fuel pump stroke is injected during start-up and during compressed air fuel operation can be used.
Instead, a conventionally sized fuel pump can be arranged and its delivery for starting or: for operating compressed air fuel, for example, by switching on another cam, can be increased accordingly. You then have to switch on the starter valve and the starter fuel pump control to start the four-stroke cycle.
When starting and operating four-stroke machines with compressed air in two-stroke, the starter valve must be switched on in the first case, the exhaust valve opened at the beginning of the exhaust and compression stroke and the inlet valve kept closed during the intake stroke In the second case, there is also the switchover in the drive of the fuel pump for the purpose of enlarging the fuel delivery.
Finally, a special fuel pump can be provided for starting and operating the compressed air fuel, which is automatically activated when the compressed air valve is switched on.
In all cases, if the compressed air inlet valve is open for a long time and the fuel pump is pumped, the outlet pressure is greatly increased. In order not to overload the outlet valve, an auxiliary outlet valve with a smaller cross-section can be arranged instead of animal outlet slots h and actuated when the event eii, as well as when operating compressed air fuel.
3 and 4 relate to pre-chamber machines, namely, FIG. 3 shows a vertical longitudinal section of an embodiment, and FIG. 4 shows a basic section of another embodiment.
According to Fig. 3, the ignition device is not housed in the antechamber, but derraum in the Zylin. In this case, too, the compressed air supply is advantageously carried out in such a way that the injected fuel, which trickles out of the antechamber in sufficient quantities, is conveyed to the ignition device, be it that it hits the nozzle directly or after it hits the piston is caught by the air stream that brushes across the piston surface.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4, an auxiliary injection nozzle x is provided in addition to the normal nozzle opening into the Vordam mer. The mouth of the compressed air channel is inclined to the radius of the working cylinder. This creates a circulating air stream that first leads the air in the cylinder to the auxiliary injection nozzle x and then to the ignition device e.
The auxiliary nozzle x is. in operation only as long as the compressed air is supplied; During this time, the supply to the main nozzle can remain or be interrupted. Switching the auxiliary nozzle on and off or switching from the auxiliary nozzle to the main nozzle can be associated with switching the compressed air control on and off.
