Description
Thermal insulation. It has been shown that the evaporation of liquefied gases has a low value if the thermal insulation packing made of kieselguhr, slag wool, etc. is arranged on evaporation vessels for liquefied gases in such a way that only the porosity of the material is taken into account and, accordingly, the insulation material is stored as tightly as possible.
In the process, for example when using slag wool, the evaporation, which occurs at the beginning, decreases rapidly, but then remains fairly constant. Diatomaceous earth, on the other hand, does not show these properties to such an extent, presumably because it is more porous and is in and of itself made up of very porous particles.
The subject of the invention is a thermal insulation made of a very porous organic or inorganic insulating material, which is stored as loosely as possible, that is to say is stored in such a way that it at least almost only bears its own weight. This creates gaps in the same and thereby significantly increases the insulating capacity of the insulation.
For example, kieselguhr can be used as an insulating material. It is also possible to use two different insulating materials in such a way that one serves as a carrier for the other, the supported insulating material being stored loosely in the above-mentioned manner. For example, slag wool can serve as a carrier for the finely porous kieselguhr.
An incombustible fabric that insulates against heat, for example a fabric made of asbestos or impregnated plant fibers, can also serve as a carrier for the insulating material, in particular for diatomite.
