Sound channel for devices for sound reproduction and process for its production. The invention relates -sich on sound channels for devices for sound playback, such. B. talking machines and loudspeakers, as well as a method for producing such sound channels.
The known, mostly funnel-shaped sound channels, due to their design and construction material, usually tend to resonate strongly with certain tones or groups of tones. This apparition causes a distortion of the reproduced sound and karnrr in some cases are so strong that not only the sound of the playback device is unpleasant, but it is also determined exclusively by the properties of the sound channel, so that improvements that can be made on other parts of the device (e.g. the sound box of a speaking machine, the drive system of a loudspeaker, the sound floor, etc.) have practically not the slightest success.
The aim of the invention is to create a sound channel in which these difficulties occur to a much lesser extent, so that one is able to significantly increase the naturalness of the sound and the sound channel, the drive system for generating the sound vibrations and any other sound organs used such as sound base, sound box, etc. to be brought into agreement with one another through correct adaptation.
The sound channel according to the invention, which can be designed both cylindrical and triehterförrnig, consists of a thin layer of wood, the fiber of which runs transversely to the main axis of the channel and which is held under tension by a flexible material surrounding it. Maple wood, which is processed in the form of fournier wood, is preferably used. Other types of wood can also be used with success.
The flexible sheath can be made from various materials. Not only fabrics are used for this, but also other flexible materials such as paper. Celluloid, parchment, etc. in question, which have the required strength and are not or little subject to elongation. A particularly favorable design is a combination of maple wood and a fabric that is marketed under the name "Lancaster".
The sound channel according to the invention has the property of being acoustically "dead"; if you press on the outside, it gives quite a lot. However, this does not prevent the inside from having a firm and hard surface along which the generated sound waves propagate without significant losses.
The production of the sound channel according to the invention is preferably done in such a way that the wood and the flexible shell in a flat or almost flat state with an adhesive or - any other means are attached to each other, whereupon the whole thing transversely to the fiber of the wood, that is to say Axen is bent into the desired shape perpendicular to the wood fibers. After the edges of the plate, from which one starts with the production and whose shape determines the later (fixation of the sound channel), e.g. by gluing or in some other way, the sound channel can be connected to the inside and outside Cover the side with a well-covering layer of lacquer, varnish or the like.
This covering layer prevents the penetration of moisture into the wood and the shell, so that the materials used retain their strength and tension and do not let go even under the most unfavorable circumstances. The properties of the cover layer can be selected by using shellac or cellulose lacquers in such a way that they cause the flexible material on the outside of the sound channel to shrink somewhat, which further increases the tension. A similar effect is achieved in the case of a funnel-shaped sound channel if the sound funnel is connected at the wide end to a plate provided with an opening.
This plate is then pushed from the narrow side with a certain tension on the sound channel and then z. B. glued to it so that it also helps to achieve rigidity.
