Method and device for the production of hollow ceramic objects. The method for producing hollow, ceramic objects according to the present invention by pouring a liquid into a mold is characterized in that the liquid is poured around an at least partially flexible core which can be removed from the molding. In order to facilitate the removal of the core, it can be designed in such a way that the external dimensions of the core can be reduced.
The invention also extends to a device for performing the above method. In this device, the mold has an outer part made of porous material and a core made of at least partially flexible material, this core being suitable for producing a cavity of certain contour lines in the molding.
An embodiment of this Einrich device is shown in the accompanying drawings, namely the figure shows a half of a shape in perspective. The mold half 11 shown has surround plates 13, which with the other. Bleach-like, not shown mold halves can be held together by screws that pass through the holes 14, with dowel pins 15 getting the exact A coverage of the two mold halves.
The illustrated core of the molding 21 has an inner tubular part 16 which forms the main support of the core and at the same time serves to supply the liquid Hasse. The part 16 is enclosed by a layer 17 near one end and by another layer 18 near the other end. These layers, which are of unequal length in the illustrated embodiment, can be made of wax, or rubber tubes can be placed over the tube 16. The main requirement is that these layers 17, 18 can be easily removed from the tube 16 by either pulling them down or melting them off. The layers 17 and 18 are now enclosed by a shell 19, 20 made of flexible material.
This shell 19, 20 has on its outer surface that shape which the molding 21 is to assume on its inner surfaces. In the example shown, this molding is a billet insulator. The casing 19, 20 could also consist of two pieces in the longitudinal direction.
If such an insulator 21 is to be produced by casting, the casing 19, 20 is first pushed onto the tube 16. This casing is held so far at various points that the flexible layers 7.7, 18 can find space in the space between it and the tube 16. This compilation with the tube 16, the removable ble layers 17, 18 of the core and the shells 19, 20 is now used in a mold half.
A flange 22 is arranged near one end of the tube 16 which fits into a corresponding recess in the mold so that the core is held against bending in the longitudinal direction. After this introduction of the core into one mold half, the other mold half is placed over it and positioned and held in place in a known manner. At 213 a cock is arranged through which. the air inside the tube 16 can be forced out. This tap is opened.
whereupon the porcelain milk or the like is allowed to rise up through the tube 16 under pressure. When the tube is filled in this way, the liquid is distributed through holes 24 into the mold. In this way, the shaped piece 21 gradually arises, with water being absorbed from the mass during the actual shaping of this piece, since the shape is made of a porous material and furthermore pressure is used to introduce the liquid.
As a result of the arrangement of the shell 19, 2r0- on the outer surface of the core, care is taken that the building of the molding progresses evenly, regardless of the irregular outer surface of the object to be produced; otherwise the molding would be formed more quickly in individual places than in other places, the uniformity of the production of the molding can be particularly supported in this way.
that the bores 24, through which the liquid overflows into the form, just opposite those circumferential points that have the endeavor to be completed last. It is then just in this way an equalization in the progress of the production of the molding obtained, which is particularly desirable.
In the earlier manufacture of such cast objects around solid cores, the difficulty was encountered, - that the casting forms around the core and thereby blocks the flow of the porcelain milk or the like to other places before the molding extends over its entire length and width has developed the correct density. With some cross-sectional shapes, it may then happen that cracks or fissures form at certain points during the drying process or that a pocket arises as a result of an increase in the shrinkage at certain points.
This is due to the fact that there was more water in the mass at this point on the molding and that accordingly, as a result of the removal of the water, the cross-section at the relevant point on the molding shrinks to a greater extent than at other points. The formation of such a pocket can also be attributed to the fact that not enough casting material reached the point in question.
In order to ensure that just such places receive the appropriate supply of casting material, you can arrange the feed holes along the Ker Nes accordingly, or you can even supply casting material from the outside against the cavity of the mold, where one of the like accumulation Oxus material is desired and the supply from inside the core may not be sufficient. Such an external additional line is indicated at 25. It would also be possible. to produce the entire fitting by supplying the material only from the outside.
After the cavity is completely filled, the holes 24 are clogged with casting material and no more direct liquid can flow in, excess water is due to the flexible shell 19, 20, which expand when pressure is applied in the core of the core driven out of the liquid and at the same time the entire structure is evened out in its density.
If such a casting is made around a core and the casting mass is very porous, then form on the wall of the sleeve on the one hand and on the other hand on the outer wall of the core, that is, on the inner boundary surfaces of the molded piece, denser places, while the mass between these boundary walls remains the porous.
In the tube 16, in place of which a skeletal core could also occur, holes 26 are still arranged, which only pass through the wall of the tube 16 without entering the cavity of the molding, so that through these holes the liquid sent in a pressure against the enclosing parts 17, 18, 19, 20 exercises and there compressed by the molding.
If the layers 17, 18 consist of wax, they can be liquefied by sending a heating medium, such as steam, hot oil or the like, through the tube 16, or this tube can be heated electrically. Thereby these layers 17 and 18 are softened and then the sleeves 19 and 20 can be removed or the tube 16 can be pulled out, whereupon the sleeves can be removed.
If the work piece is introduced into a heated chamber or the like, the wax 18 and 17 that is still present will be sufficiently soft. to equip the cases 19 and 20 to ge. to give in and in this way to take part in or compensate for those changes in shape that occur with the shrinking of the l @ ormling.
After the molding has been produced, one half of the mold can be removed and (the workpiece and the core can then be taken out of the other half. The core is disassembled by pulling on the sleeves 18, 17 to remove them Tube 16 can be easily removed and finally the sheath 19, 20. If these parts are made of rubber, their removal will not present any difficulties and they can be used repeatedly. Removal will be particularly easy when the rubber is removed has the right composition, because these envelopes can then be stretched by pulling them so that they have a smaller outer diameter.
They will then be removed very easily without damaging the workpiece.
If the parts 17, 18 and the flexible parts 19, 20 are made of sufficiently strong material, the introduction of the rigid central tube 16 is not necessary at all.
Many different types of objects can be produced by casting according to the method described. The peculiar design of the core makes observation of the casting time unnecessary and increases the uniform density of the work piece through its entire mass. The removal of the core can take place without endangering the finished work piece. With previous casting processes, such a removal is only possible if the core has a very simple shape and if care is taken that it tapers towards one end.
