Device for storing and using electrically generated heat. The subject of the present inven tion forms a further development of the device identified in claim II of the main patent. The memory core of the embodiment shown in the main patent, for example, which can be cast in one piece or consist of each other geschich ended plates, contains an inner cavity in which the radiator is housed and which serves as a collecting space for the medium flowing through.
In this configuration of the core, the latter is essentially the same temperature everywhere, inside and outside. However, it may be desirable to maintain a different temperature in a certain part of the core than prevails in other parts and also to make the heat dissipation of the various core parts differently, for example to prevent the - in one part of the core from flowing away too quickly it generated heat to prevent the shell surrounding the core, i.e. to delay the transfer of heat into the latter. This is not possible with a core consisting of a single piece.
Therefore, according to the present invention, the storage core is divided into an inner part and an outer part separated from it by a space and serving as a jacket, this space serving as a collecting space for the medium to be heated that penetrates through the jacket. At the same time, this subdivision creates the possibility of using appropriate core material for the various temperatures that come about.
The drawing illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention through FIGS. 1 and 2 in two longitudinal sections offset from one another by 90 and through FIG. 3 in cross section.
The storage core, shown as an upright cylinder, for example, consists of an inner part a and an outer part b which surrounds it, leaving an intermediate space c. The inner part a can for example consist of a certain material, while the jacket b, which is shown in the present case as composed of rings or plates stacked on top of one another, consists of a different material.
The in the direction of the arrows (Fis. 2 and 3) through the insulating storage shell surrounding the storage core f an upward flowing medium to be heated, for example air, penetrates between the rings or plates forming the jacket b through into the collecting space c and flows out through the opening of the base plate d; e is a final cover.
The intermediate space c, which is located between the core parts a and b and is filled with the medium to be heated, prevents an excessively rapid transfer of heat from the inner to the outer core part. Therefore, if necessary, the inner part can be heated strongly for a long time without a significant transfer of heat to the outer shell f occurring.
To regulate this temperature gradation and the heat transfer, in addition to the choice of the material of the core parts, various means can be used, such as the creation of particularly poorly radiating surfaces, cladding of the inner core part with insulating material; but one can also arrange a second jacket dividing the intermediate space into concentric spaces, by means of which the flowing medium is first guided along the outer and then the inner core part, which has a higher temperature. For good heat transfer to the flowing medium, it is expedient to use large, for example ribbed surfaces.
Instead of plates or rings, the jacket b can be built up from closely lined up rods that allow the medium to pass through between them. On the other hand, that jacket b can also be made from a single piece, made of a material that is permeable to the medium to be heated, or from a few such pieces. In all cases, of course, such a jacket should only be permeable to the medium to be heated, while preventing the sand or the like forming the jacket f.
In a manner similar to the two temperature zones shown in the example shown, several such zones can be created by continuing the division of the core, creating a corresponding number of concentric spaces.
In order not to have to clear away a larger or smaller amount of the sand forming the insulating and storage envelope f every time a heating element g is replaced, each of the cavities containing the heating element g is present in the continuation of the inciern core part a closely followed by a housing i attached. This extends as far as the sieve 1c which surrounds the casing f and to which it is also firmly connected.
In order to prevent heat from escaping through the housing i and the flow of the medium through this housing to the core, these housings are filled with poorly thermally conductive material and sealed against the passage of the medium at any point, for example on the outside End closed by a lid G tightly.
Instead of a special housing i for each radiator g, a common, one chamber bil dendes housing can be arranged for several radiators in a manner similar to that given for the individual housing i.
