die i(lasCTasvonFrem(lkörpernbefreit.
Zu diesem Zweck ist ein 1>ruel;l)ehälter 27 vorgesehen, der der Ring- rirlt 25 gasgesättigte Fliissigkeit liefert und der hoch genug über dem Lager 24 liegt, rim der Ringnut 25 gegebenenfalls an ihrem 1@rchsten Punkte Dichtungsflüssigkeit zufüh- ren zii können;
der unterhalb Jes Ta"_,erbocks angeordnet ist, derart ver bunden sind, da.ss die Dichtungsflüssigkeit infolge Schwerkraft aus der Ringnut 25 Tiber die Röhren. 30 und die Röhre 31 zu Aem Sammelbehälter fliesst. Um den Flüssi-- l;
Bei .den beschriebenen Kühlsystemen ist. es wichtig, dass die Reinheit des Kühlgases in dem geschlossenen Kühlsystem möglichst sichergestellt ist, und zwar deshalb, weil die Vermischung des Kühlgases mit Luft die Wirksamkeit der Kühlung vermindern würde und, falls Wasserstoff als Kühlmittel verwendet wird, der Betrieb durch Bildung von explo4blem Knallgas gefährdet werden l;önnt". Es können dafür sehr einfache Vor- riehtungen vorgesehen werden, die die Rein heit des Kühlgases anzeigen. Zu diesem '/.weck kann dafür gesorgt;
Device for cooling closed electrical machines by means of a cooling gas circulating in a circuit, in particular hydrogen gas. DiF @ invention relates to such electrical machines that are provided with a closed-end ventilation device. in which gas, for example hydrogen, flows for the purpose. to cool the machine. The invention is primarily intended to create an improved liquid seal for such, earthy machines.
For electrical machines of this type, fluid connections were previously used between the machine shaft and the machine housing. to prevent the cooling gas from escaping. To ensure an effective seal and to prevent overheating and evaporation of the sealing liquid, the sealing liquid is continuously circulated while the machine is in operation.
Although such an arrangement prevents the gas from escaping directly from the machine housing, the machine is not completely airtight, since. Sealing fluid mixed with air can penetrate the inside of the machine from outside.
The penetration of air into the housing of the machine makes it necessary to supply gas to the machine and to suck gas mixed with air from it until the percentage of air in the machine is low enough, although there is a loss of gas entry. This is necessary because the presence of considerable amounts of air increases the friction losses if the gas in question is lighter than air and reduces the efficiency of the coolant.
If hydrogen is used as a coolant, special care must be taken to ensure that no explosive oxyhydrogen is formed. In the American patent specification No. 1559182 an arrangement is already described in which the gas and air are separated from each other by a liquid keitsdichtung, namely so. that no gas can escape from the machine and that the external air cannot penetrate into the machine.
The invention, above all, has the purpose of providing a liquid seal which prevents air from outside from penetrating into the interior of the machine, specifically over the sealing liquid.
and which also seals the enclosed parts of the machine well and prevents gas from escaping from the machine. This is achieved by a liquid seal, which consists of two adjacent annular grooves which surround the machine shaft and which are filled with sealing liquid, of which the liquid is arranged in the one near the interior of the machine. with cooling gas, is saturated, while the sealing liquid of the other annular groove is saturated with air.
With this arrangement the with gas. The saturated liquid seal does not expose air so that it cannot absorb air and transfer it into the interior of the cooling device, and it also prevents gas from escaping from the inside of the machine to the outside, and thus preventing gas loss Piii.
The invention is illustrated in (her drawing for example. The closed electrical machine contains a gas-tight from closed housing 10 and an armature 11 ,, which is carried in the bearing blocks 12 by the shaft 13, which is on the bearing plates 10 & of the housing Gas is supplied to the: housing via the control valves 14 from some source, for example a container 15 via a drying and cleaning device 16.
The i (lasCTas is freed from external oil. In order to achieve effective cooling of the machine, the gas inside the housing is circulated through (the impeller 17, which is attached to the armature. Part of the gas blown out by the impeller is passed through 19 passed over the surface of the surrounding armature and then outwards via channels 19 into the chambers 20.
Another part of the gas blown out by the impeller is conducted via a channel 21 to a chamber 22, from where it penetrates inwards, over the surface of the circulating Anler and then outwards into the channels 20. The gas: then flows from the channels 20 over the surface of a cooler 23, through which some means for cooling the gas is switched, and then to the suction side of the impeller 17. The course of the gas in the cooling circulation system is indicated in the drawing by arrows.
This special cooling arrangement is immaterial to the invention and essentially the same as that. which is already in the American patent specification NTr. 1269537 is described.
It is now prevented that air from the outside can penetrate into the inside of the closed machine, namely by using a sealing liquid that has two sealing points, one of which is saturated with the gas that circulates inside the machine, and the other is saturated with air.
As can be seen from the drawing, which is an example of an embodiment, are (here two by, liquid rings formed th sealing points between the shaft 1. of the rotating armature provided around the bearing part 2.1, the liquid rings in annular grooves 25 and 26 A gas-saturated sealing liquid is supplied to the annular groove 25, and an air-saturated sealing liquid is supplied to the annular groove 26. The liquid ring seal 25 prevents it.
that gas can escape from the connected housing and sigkeitsring 26 can pass into the adjacent liq. The liquid ring 26 has the effect that the liquid ring 25 does not absorb any air and that as little air as possible can enter the interior of the machine. This arrangement reduces the amount of air entering the interior of the machine via the liquid ring to a negligible value, because the air has to diffuse over the air-saturated liquid ring 26 to your gas-saturated liquid ring 25, which is very slow is going on.
With this arrangement it can be achieved that the entry of air into the interior of the machine is almost completely prevented by the fact that the liquid level is adjusted in this way. that there is only a very small flow between the liquid ring saturated with gas and the liquid ring saturated with air, whereby only a very small loss of hydrogen,
which is used to cool the machine. entry.
To prevent strong temperature increases in the day 24 during the operation of the electrical machine, whereby the Diclitunasfluid would evaporate and so the seal would be ineffective, the oil fluidity of both sealing rings is constantly rotating. a pressure device or pump is set in circulation.
For this purpose, a cylinder 27 is provided which delivers gas-saturated liquid to the ring roller 25 and which is high enough above the bearing 24 to supply sealing liquid to the ring groove 25 at its first point if necessary can;
however, other known arrangements can be used as well. to achieve the desired I) ruel_. The liquid from the container 27 flows through the tube 28, into which a valve 29 is switched on, in order to allow the liquid level in the annular groove to be set as desired. Near the annular groove 25 z,% vei overflow pipes 30 are provided, both of which via channels and via the overflow pipe 31 with the collecting container 32,
which is arranged below Jes Ta "_, erbocks, are connected in such a way that the sealing liquid flows out of the annular groove 25 through the tubes 30 and the tube 31 to Aem collecting container due to gravity.
To keep side mirror in the container 27 and in the ring with 25, a pump 33 is provided. which leads the excess sealant liquid via line 34 to the container 27. The excess sealing liquid is returned to the collecting container 32 via tube 35. The pressure vessel 27 and the collecting vessel 32 are both completely closed.
In addition, they are connected to one another by the pipe 36 above their liquid level. A similar arrangement is chosen for the cooling arrangement that supplies the liquid air-saturated with the annular groove 26. It contains a pressure vessel 38 which is arranged so high above the bearing 24 that the sealing liquid can be supplied to the annular groove 26 at the highest point via the tube 39 and a control valve 40, although other known pressure devices can also be used here.
The liquid supplied to the annular groove 26 flows into the annular groove 41, which is connected via a channel to the overflow pipe 43 which leads into the collecting container 44. The liquid level in the Druckbe container 38 and in the annular groove 26 is kept con stant.
This is achieved by the pump 45, which supplies the pressure vessel 38 with a larger amount of sealing liquid than is required for the annular groove 26, and which also ensures that the excess liquid is returned to the collecting vessel via the overflow pipe 47. The overflow pipe 47 ensures that the liquid level in the pressure vessel 38 remains at the same height.
The pressure vessel 38 and the collecting vessel 44 are both open, that is to say exposed to air, so that the sealing liquid supplied to the annular groove 26 can become saturated with air.
The pressure in the annular grooves 25 and 26 is set by hand through the control valves 29 and 40 in such a way that there is a slight overpressure in the annular groove 25 compared to the annular groove 26, so that only small amounts of the gas-saturated Liquid can pass into the air-saturated liquid, but not vice versa.
This regulation of the pressure conditions of the annular grooves 25 and 26 can also take place automatically, in such a way that at the moment when a sufficiently large pressure difference occurs between the annular groove 25 and the annular groove 26, liquid can flow over from one annular groove to the other, so that the liquid can flow between the two pipeline systems, the system that is connected to the pressure vessel 27 and that which is connected to the pressure vessel 38.
Either the hydrogen-saturated liquid is transferred into the air-saturated liquid, where a. Loss of hydrogen in the cooling system would occur, or the air-saturated liquid, when mixed with the hydrogen-saturated liquid, will cause air to pass into the cooling system and reduce its effectiveness.
This disadvantage is avoided by the arrangement in that devices are provided which only allow a certain harmless amount to be mixed between the two cooling systems. For this purpose, a device is provided which moves a valve built into the tube 28 and thus regulates the flow of the gas-saturated liquid to the annular groove 25, depending on the changes in the liquid level in the collecting container 44.
The movement of the valve is monitored by a float 48 which is connected to a cord or chain block 49. The cord or chain hoist leads over the guide roller 50 and the valve wheel 51. A weight 52 hangs at its free end. This arrangement ensures that the valve is closed when the liquid level in the collecting container 44 rises and opened when the Liquid mirror -, I lower.
The amount of liquid in the pressure vessels 27 and 38 is kept constant provided that there is sufficient liquid supply by the pumps 33 and 45 through the overflow pipes 35 and 47.
Should the amount of liquid in one of the two Rohrleitungssy systems change, this would turn instantly by changing the liquid level in the containers 32 and 44 is indicated. If the liquid level rises in the collecting container 44, which is filled with air-saturated sealing liquid, this is also connected to the valve wheel 51. Try to close the valve and reduce the pressure of the sealing liquid that is fed from the pressure vessel 27 to the annular groove 25.
The pressure drop in the annular groove 25 will cause the sealing liquid to flow from the annular groove 26 to the annular groove 25 until the liquid level in the collecting container 44 has decreased so far that the valve connected to the valve wheel 51 becomes more and more opens and restores the original state, that is, in each case where no liquid passes between the annular grooves 25. and 26 -.
If the liquid level in the collecting container 44 drops, the valve built into the pipeline 28 opens and thus causes the pressure in the annular groove. 25 grows in such a way that sealing liquid flows into the annular groove 26 and the associated collecting container 44, the liquid of which reaches its normal level again, and so the float 48 returns to its original position. It can be readily seen that a float is similar the float 48 can also be provided in the pipeline system 39,
which is connected to the collecting container 32.
The adjustment of the liquid pressure in the annular grooves 25 unicl 26 to such a value at which the passage of sealing liquid between the annular grooves is prevented is thereby facilitated. that pressure gauges 25a and 26a are provided, which respectively with the annular grooves 25. 26 are connected. The pressure and the liquid level in the pressure vessels are indicated by the open tubes 27a and 38a, while the pressure and the liquid level in the collecting vessels 32 and 44 are indicated by the open tubes 32a and 44a.
With the cooling systems described,. It is important that the purity of the cooling gas in the closed cooling system is ensured as far as possible, because the mixing of the cooling gas with air would reduce the effectiveness of the cooling and, if hydrogen is used as the coolant, the operation is endangered by the formation of explosive oxyhydrogen gas It is possible to provide very simple provisions that indicate the purity of the cooling gas.
will. that a constant amount of cooling gas circulates in the glass cylinder housing, so that the speed de. circulating Ktihlgüses through any part of the cooling system remains approximately the same at any point in time. In addition, devices can be provided that indicate the speed of the cooling gas flowing through part of the cooling system.
There. the amount of circulating cooling gas in the relevant part of the cooling system: is kept constant, then the velocity of the cooling gas in 'the relevant' part of the cooling system will remain the same as long as the density of the gas does not change .
However, if the density of the cooling gas changes, it can be seen without further ado that this changes the circulation speed of the cooling gas, which can be measured very easily, and thus the purity of the cooling gas within the cooling system is deduced can be. In the embodiment shown in the drawing, the electric machine rotates at a constant speed so that the vane wheel 17 delivers a constant amount of cooling gas.
The speedometer, which indicates the speed of the part of the gas in the channel 27, contains essentially two pitot tubes 61 and 62), of which the opening of one tube in the direction of flow of the gas and the opening of the others in the opposite direction. Each of these two Pitot tubes is connected to one leg of a U-tube 0,
which shows the pressure difference and thus also the purity or density of the craze.
