deren Verdampfungswärme wesentlich kleiner ist als die der Alkohole (Verhältnis der Ver- da.mpfungswärme von Benzol zu Alkohol: 1: 2,25) und im letzteren Fall in Verbin dung mit Wasser (Verhältnis der Verdamp- fungswärme von Alkohol zu Wasser: Geeignete Stoffkombinationen sind hier nach beispielsweise Heiz-Leichtöle, beson ders Gasolin mit Wasser oder Alkohol oder mit Gemischen aus Wasser und Alkohol;

Operating procedures for steam engines. The present invention aims to ensure trouble-free operation and at the same time to achieve high thermal efficiency of steam engines when using heavy steam (steam of high volume weight) from liquid fuel, which is accessible at the working temperature of decomposition, as a propellant.
This is achieved in that, according to the method, the working heavy steam, accessible to decomposition under the influence of temperature, with low evaporation heat and high specific heat is used in a mixture with a small amount of steam of a liquid that is not or much less decomposable in relation to the amount of heavy steam, whose heat of evaporation is much greater than that of the liquid supplying the heavy steam.
In general, it is advisable to use a mixture consisting of only two different components as the working steam mixture; however, the additional presence of other components cannot be ruled out.
Liquid fuels that provide heavy steam are particularly natural and artificial oils, distillates of crude petroleum, tar, bitumen, resin and, as an indecomposable or poorly decomposable additive, water.
In addition, alcohols (especially ethyl or methyl alcohol) can also be used, because they stand between the decomposable oils and the non-pyrogenic water, both as an additive to light fuel vapors and as an additive for the execution of the process Fuel that delivers heavy steam, in the former case in conjunction with oils,
whose heat of evaporation is significantly smaller than that of alcohols (ratio of heat of vaporization of benzene to alcohol: 1: 2.25) and in the latter case in connection with water (ratio of heat of vaporization of alcohol to water: suitable combinations of substances are here for example heating light oils, FITS gasoline with water or alcohol or with mixtures of water and alcohol;
furthermore, oils belonging to the benzene series and synthetic engine oils, such as those obtained especially through so-called cracking and hydrogenation processes, also in connection with water, alcohol or mixtures thereof and finally alcohol, especially ethyl or methyl alcohol and mixtures thereof with water .
With a suitable choice of mixing components, this results in high thermal efficiency

required mixing ratio by itself if the vapor-supplying liquids are brought to evaporation together in an evaporator.
For example, if you keep water and benzene in a Ver evaporator and work at a pressure of about 20 atmospheres, then the result is a steam mixture of around 19 percent by weight of water and 81 percent by weight of benzene to feed the working space of the steam engine. If you work with a condensation temperature of around 50 to 60 C, the vapor mixture released to the condenser will only contain around 6% water vapor, so that the total amount of heat of evaporation of the water lost in the condenser is very low despite its high heat of evaporation fails.
In addition, since the condenser loss of the heavy fuel vapors due to the small heat of evaporation of the fuel is low, a high economic efficiency is achieved, which can be maintained over the long term despite the decomposability of the fuel supplying the heavy vapors, since the presence of the water Largely inhibits fuel decomposition. The air sucked out of the condenser, which is saturated with fuel vapor and water vapor according to their partial pressure, can be used to heat the evaporator or to operate an internal combustion engine, possibly with the simultaneous addition of further fuel, for example part of the condensed fuel .
The practical implementation of the invention can then be done, for example, as follows: You use the fuel intended for the delivery of heavy steam. material "for example benzene, together with water, possibly first as a coolant in the radiator of an internal combustion engine and then transfers the mixture to an evaporator, where it is completely evaporated by heating it, possibly with the help of the exhaust gas.
The steam mixture is then used to operate a steam engine (piston engine or turbine) and, after expansion, is sent to a condenser. Partial condensation occurs in the condenser. In some cases, with the air extraction necessary to maintain the vacuum, fuel in vapor form is also extracted. The extracted steam mixed with air can be used, for example, to operate the internal combustion machine in order to do work again, or it can also be burned directly.
The condensate of the steam mixture is wholly or partially returned to the evaporation chamber, into which fresh fuel is fed as required to replace the used one.
