Pompe.
Pump. The present invention relates to a pump, comprising a body of generally cylindrical shape sealed at its ends by removable fittings, one for the passage of the piston rod, with a view to its operation, and the other forming a spray. teur and housing a check valve, the pump body also contains a concentric tube, acting as a sleeve in which the piston moves, this tube being slightly shorter than the pump body in the bore of which it slides freely, all these members being combined so that at the beginning of the aspiration stroke of the piston, the tube moves axially towards the side of the handle,
allowing the sucked liquid to enter its hazard and that at the beginning of the delivery stroke, the tube returns to its position on the jet side, closing off the communication between this bore and the pump body in order to allow the piston to re-press the liquid under pressure through the check valve, from where it exits through the front port of the sprayer.
The accompanying drawing, given by way of example, shows an embodiment of this pump.
In fig. 1 and 2, the represented pump is applied to an apparatus for spraying liquids; Fig. 1 is an elevation thereof and FIG. 2 is a plan section of the pump. FIGS. 3 to 5 are on a different scale the details of this embodiment. The left half of fig. 3 is a view and that on the right a longitudinal section of the piston.
The left half of fig. 4 is a view and the right half a partial section of the front end of the pump body and its tube. The left half of fig. 5 is a view and that on the right a longitudinal section of the front connector. The pump shown comprises a cylindrical body 1, of elongated shape, provided at its two ends with sealed connections, the posterior 2 of which, in which passes the rod 3 of the pump piston, is provided with a seal of washers 4, by example in leather or other suitable material and the front 5, equipped with a nozzle in the form of a nozzle 6, is also provided with a trim 7, for example in leather, to ensure the sealing of this end.
The inside of the pump body 1 closes a concentric tube 8, made of a material appropriate to the nature of the liquid to be pumped, acting as a jacket and the outside diameter of which is smaller than the bore of the pump body. -This tube is also slightly shorter than the body of the pump, for example 2 to 3 mm., And ends at its front part with a disc 9, welded at its end and provided with a central orifice 10 acting as sou inlet valve for the passage of the liquid in the bore of the tube. To guide the tube in the pump body, the edges of its ends are flared so that they can rest on the wall of the pump body.
The piston rod 3 ends at its rear part, at the outlet of the pump body, by an operating handle 11. The front end of the rod forms the piston proper, which comprises a threaded part 12, threaded at its end to accommodate a tightening screw 13. Between this screw and a nut 14 is inserted a body 15, consisting for example of leather washers sliding frictionally in the internal bore of the tube 8. It suffices to tighten the nut 14 to obtain the desired degree of friction between the piston and the sleeve 8, thus ensuring perfect sealing during operation of the pump. To prevent the piston from touching the seal 4 at the end of its suction stroke, a seat 23 is welded behind the threaded part 12.
The front connection 5 ends in a nipple 16, constituting the housing of a ball-shaped shutter 17, forming the check valve arranged in the axial extension of the orifice 10 of the disc 9. A spring 18 supports the ball on the valve seat and disengages the valve only during the piston discharge stroke. The spring is trapped in its housing by a pin 19.
Finally, the nozzle 6 itself, screwed like a cap on the nipple 16, comprises a housing in which the sprayer member 20 plays. The front wall for closing the nozzle 6 is provided with an axial orifice 21 pierced in a thin wall. , for the output of the spray jet.
The spray member 20, in the form of a cylindrical bowl, is provided with a bottom 22. Two helical notches 24 cut halfway through the wall of the bowl, thus making a groove which pierces the bottom 22 and which constitutes a channel, giving the liquid vein a gyratory movement while spraying it at the outlet of the jet through orifice 21.
The pump body communicates with a reservoir 25 (FIG. 1) containing the liquid to be sprayed. This communication is established by a conduit 26, one end of which ends in the slot 27, made in the pump body and the other end, for view of a strainer 28, plunges into the bottom of the tank 25. A connector 29 connects the pump body with the conduit 26 and at the same time forms the filler plug and the watertight shutter of the reservoir. An orifice 30 makes it possible to establish the atmospheric pressure in the interior of the tank.
The described pump operates in the following manner. During the suction stroke, caused by an axial traction on the handle 11 of the piston rod in the rear direction, the rear part of the tube 8, driven in the same direction by this movement, comes to rest on the gar niture 4, while the front part, provided with the disc 9, is detached from the bottom 7, establishing communication between the bore of the body 1 of the pump and that of the tube 8.
The liquid is sucked from the reservoir through the pipe 26, passes through the pump body and enters through the orifice 10 into the bore of the tube 8, while the liquid which may be found in this bore, behind the piston, coming from the previous stroke, is forced into the bore of the pump body by the slots 31. The single .output of the liquid, by the nozzle, is closed by the ball 17, supported on its seat by the spring 18 and by the vacuum prevailing in the pump body.
During the discharge stroke; the movement of the piston in the forward direction returns the tube 8 to its position resting on the gasket 7 at the bottom. The pressurized liquid discharges the ball 17 of the check valve and enters the nozzle to pass through the spray member 20, which divides it and gives it a gyratory movement as it leaves the orifice 21 to form a spray jet.
Depending on whether the spray member 20 is housed in the nozzle with its bottom 22 facing the orifice 21 or else the ma melon 16, the jet is dispersed in a fan or concentrated in a beam. Indeed, when the bowl is placed in the nozzle as shown in fig. 2, with its bottom 22 behind, the liquid stream which passes through it breaks against said bottom before receiving the gyratory movement obtained by passing through the helical notches 24 and exits through the orifice 21 in a single beam, in the form of concentrated jet.
When the bowl is placed upside down with its bottom 22 pressed against the wall of the orifice 21, the spray jet having received its gi ratory movement through the passage of the helical notches 24, is flattened by the bottom 22 and exits through the orifice 21 dispersed, in the form of a fan-shaped jet.
The principle of the pump, object of the present invention, can be applied to other embodiments than that described. The body of the pump could in particular constitute a supply reservoir for the liquid to be pumped. The pump described finds many applications, thanks to the efficiency of its operation, to the compression power obtained by a reduced bore of the tube 8, to the tightness of the piston fitted with the take-up device and to the ease of dismantling. , cleaning and replacement of component parts.
