Description

Process for the production of components from insulating material. There methods are known to cut loose cork; Sawdust, peat fibers and similar shredded organic material for insulation to produce certain components for example building boards.

In the processes known up to now for the production of such insulating panels, the impregnating agent, pitch or asphalt, was mixed with the fillers in a hot liquid or pulverized state. In no case could the impregnating and binding agent be distributed in a sufficiently fine distribution for the filler, in particular not if the filler was very fine-grained or fine-grained. These plates have relatively too much Bin demittel and too little filler; they are therefore expensive and insulate relatively poorly.

According to the new process, the impregnating and binding agent is now finely distributed in a light-bodied carrier and intimately mixed with the comminuted filler, be it in the form of a water-soluble emulsion or in a suspension, or in the form of a solution of the impregnating agent in a suitable solvent, whereupon the liquid carrier is removed again from the molding. This means that a relatively small amount of binding or impregnating agent can be used to bind and impregnate a large amount and also very fine-grained filler. Gasoline, benzene, xylene and sulfate can be used as solvents for pitch and asphalt.

By varying the asphalt, pitch etc. concentration of the emulsions. Suspensions or solutions, the thickness of the layer enveloping the filler body and thus the degree of impregnation can be changed as desired, and the content of impregnation and binding agent can be reduced to a small fraction of the filler. The mixture of impregnating agent and filler can be loose or pressed into shapes and dried under pressure. When using solutions, the solvents can be driven off and recovered in any way.
