Description

Support for tree ladders. There are known supports for tree ladders which consist of two scissor-like rods articulated to one another and at the ends of which hooks are provided. These rods grip the relatively weak rungs by means of the hooks.

The present invention is a support which engages on the ladder rails. It consists of two identically constructed rods that can be set up crosswise, each of which is provided at its upper end with an open fork, each having a means for embracing one of the bars. The support can be designed in such a way that each pole can be set up on its own.

In the accompanying drawing, an example embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown. They show: FIG. 1 a part of a ladder with the forks of the support engaging on the stiles, in elevation, and in FIG. 2 in plan; 3 and 4 represent in front or respectively. Side view shows the end of a single pole of the support. Figures 1 and 2 are the stiles of a tree ladder. Two rods 4, 5, each of which has a fork 3 at the top, serve to support the same. The latter has two arms 6, 7, which can include a spar together.

On the forks 3, a piece of pipe 8 is welded into which the rod is inserted.

While one end 6 of the fork includes the front side of the spar, the other end 7 includes the rear side and a rung. When the rung breaks, the bars 1, 2 are clamped between the fork arms so that the ladder is held by rungs without assistance and cannot fall.

The two rods are expediently supported on the floor, crossing each other, independently of one another. Since the spars are almost completely encompassed by the forks, there is great security against adjustment or breaking of the support device, since it is not mainly the relatively weak rungs that are stressed, as is the case with known ladder supports.
