Auf der Zeichnung ist der Erfindungs gegenstand in einigen Beispielen dargestellt. Fig. 1 zeigt eine Schaltung nach der Er findung, bei welcher der Endverstärker mit einem Hilfsgitter zwischen dem Schutzgitter und der Platte versehen ist und dieses Hilfs gitter auf konstantem positivem Potential gehalten wird; Fig. 2 ist ein Diagramm, auf dem die Potentiale der verschiedenen Elektroden des Endverstärkers nach Fig. 1 aufgetragen sind; Fig. 3 zeigt ein dem Beispiel nach Fig. 1 ähnliches Beispiel mit .dem Unterschied, dass das Hilfsgitter- mit der Kathode leitend ver bunden ist;
Circuit with discharge tube to amplify electrical oscillations. The invention relates to the amplification of electrical vibrations with the help of thermionic devices, in particular the process in the last BEZW. single gain stage of an amplifier. In the case of the discharge tube in question, the working curve should have a great steepness.
When using ordinary trio, this steepness is not insignificantly lower than that of the characteristic, since the vibrations to be amplified are transmitted to the anode with the opposite phase to that of the grid, so that the anode current increases as a result of the increase in the grid potential .the falling anode potential is reduced.
In order to remedy this disadvantage, it is appropriate to use a so-called protective grid between the control grid and the anode at the end amplifier, which protective grid is kept at a constant, fairly high positive potential, while at the same time, the possibility so much desired for an end amplifier claims to apply a proper negative gate voltage to the control grid:
If, however, such an end tube with an anode protective grille is used in a amplifier, the phenomenon becomes effective that when the anode potential falls, the protective grille current increases at the expense of the anode current and that, if this drop is so strong, the anode potential tial drops below the potential of the protective grid, on the one hand secondary electrons go over from the anode to the protective grid, while on the other hand some of the primary electrons between the protective grid and anode reverse their direction and return to the protective grid.
One of these phenomena has the consequence to a greater extent and the other to a lesser extent that the protective grid current increases at the expense of the anode current, so that the advantage associated with the use of the protective grid is largely lost again goes.
The invention is based on this insight and is characterized in that the discharge tube that acts on the last amplification stage is provided with a protective grid. provided between the control grid and the anode and that the whole is also set up so that, if the anode potential drops, the increase in the protective grid CD costs of the anode current is almost entirely prevented.
In the drawing, the subject of the invention is shown in some examples. Fig. 1 shows a circuit according to the invention, in which the power amplifier is provided with an auxiliary grid between the protective grid and the plate and this auxiliary grid is kept at a constant positive potential; FIG. 2 is a diagram on which the potentials of the various electrodes of the output amplifier according to FIG. 1 are plotted; FIG. 3 shows an example similar to the example according to FIG. 1 with the difference that the auxiliary grid is conductively connected to the cathode;
4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 show schematically different types of discharge tubes expediently to be used as power amplifiers; Fig.9 shows a circuit. in which the auxiliary grid is subjected to alternating voltages that are 180 out of phase with the voltage fluctuations of the anode.
In Fig. 1, 1 represents a transformer with an iron core, the secondary coil is connected at one end to a control grid of the end tube, while its end via a bias battery 7 to the negative end of the cathode 6 is ver related. The discharge tube is also provided with a protective grid 3, which is connected to such a point of the high-voltage battery 9 that it is held at a high positive potential which, however, is slightly lower than the mean potential of the anode 5. In the circuit of the anode 5 there is a reproducer 10 (telephone, loudspeaker, writing device or the like).
The cathode 6 is fed by a battery 8, it being possible to provide a regulating resistor (not shown). Between the protective grid 3 and the anode 5, an auxiliary grid 4 is now arranged, which is connected to such a point on the battery 9 that the potential of 4 is significantly lower than that of the protective grid 3. In the diagram according to FIG. the potentials of the electrodes 2, 3, 4 and 5 are plotted graphically in order to give a better idea of the course of the electric field inside the discharge tube.
The potential of the auxiliary grid 4 is chosen so little positive that it can be assumed with certainty that the instantaneous anode potential will never fall significantly below the potential of 4 even at maximum values of the voltage amplitude at the control grid 2. In this way it is finally prevented that any secondary electrodes sent out by the anode will pass over to the auxiliary grid -1-, since the potential from 4 to 5 will almost always be increasing.
The circuit can. As can be seen from FIG. 3, by connecting the auxiliary grid 4 directly to one of the ends of the cathode 6, somewhat simplified. As a result, the auxiliary grid 4 comes to the potential 0, so that what has been said with reference to the possible secondary electrodes of the anode Ge applies here even more. where it is also made possible to connect the grid -1 within the tube, or optionally within the tube sleeve, with the cathode zii. The number of cathode screws or pins to be attached to the tube is therefore reduced by one.
The second difference compared to the example according to FIG. 1 is to be noted that the protective grid 3 is connected to the positive end of the battery 9. and in this way receives the same track current potential as the anode 5. The power to be delivered by the end tube is increased as a result.
In Fig. 4, the wielitsten parts of a tube design according to the invention are Darge provides, three auxiliary electrodes are arranged between the cathode and the anode, the outermost of which is conductively ver connected to the cathode. The various electrodes are melted into the glass pinch point 13 of a lamp base in a known manner with their carriers, some of which are also effective as Stromzulei processing wires, the upper part of which is only shown. The glass body with which the glass base is fused has also been omitted from the drawing.
The cathode 6 consists of a ge stretched wire, which is stretched between two supply lines 11, the left of which is extended upwards and there is conductively connected to a metal bar 12, which is used to stiffen and support the outer most grid 4. This grid is effective as an auxiliary grid within the meaning of the invention and is arranged between the anode 5 and the protective grid 3. The latter is supported in a known manner by a support web and two in the pinch point 13 melted carriers, the right is passed through the pinch point.
Finally, between the protective grille 3 and the Ka method 6 there is a control grille 2, which, like the two grids 3 and 4, is shown as a helically wound wire which is attached to a support web on the underside, which is inserted into the by means of two carriers Pinch point 13 is melted. Of these two carriers, only the left one is passed through the pinch point. The anode 5 is supported in a well-known manner by a rigid central support which is melted into the pinch point 13 and passed through it. is. A total of five lead-through wires, of which, for example, four with contact pins .der can be connected to the lower surface of the Röh renhülse, while -the fifth, z.
B. the lead-through wire of the protective grille, after a contact screw on the cylindrical side wall of the same sleeve can be performed.
Fig. 5 shows a schematic cross section through the electrodes of a discharge tube of modified design. The Ka method 6 here also consists of a stretched wire that is surrounded by the control grid 2, which can be designed as desired. Arranged around the control grid is a protective grid 3, which consists of a number of narrow metal strips arranged parallel to the cathode 6 and in radial surfaces, which are mutually united at the ends by metal rings.
These rings are in Fig. 6, which shows a longitudinal section through such a tubular design, with 19 be distinguished. The anode contains a number of radial partitions 15 which are in alignment with the bands 3, but are much wider than the latter. These partitions are united at the ends by flat rings 14 to form a rigid whole. The gap between the grid 3 and the anode 5 is expediently kept only small and the gaps between the partition walls 15 are also kept small by virtue of the fact that the number of partition walls is chosen to be large.
The purpose of these measures is to catch the electrons which have passed through the grid 3 and which tend to return to the grid 3 instead of going over to the anodes and which deviate sideways from their straight paths through the partition walls 15 for this purpose so that they get back to the anode.
If you form the control grid 2 helically or in the form of a number of parallel rings arranged on a cylindrical surface, the elements of the grid 2 and those of the grid 8 intersect perpendicularly or almost perpendicularly. This will have a beneficial effect, since the electrons are then deflected less from their straight orbits than if the elements mentioned run completely or almost parallel to each other.
Another design, which also has the purpose of avoiding a return of the primary electrons that have passed through the protective grid to the grid just mentioned, is shown in FIG. This figure is a schematic cross section through the electrodes of a discharge tube according to the invention, in which the grid 2 consists of a number of small, parallel to the cathode 6 ver running, flat strips which are perpendicular to the plane through its longitudinal axis and through give the cathode. On the side of these bands facing away from the cathode are the elements, e.g. B.
Wires of the protective grille 3, which are thus fairly completely shielded by the ribbon 2. The resulting effect is that the electrons are only slightly deflected under the combined influence of grids 2 and 3, so that they will show less tendency to return to grid 3. In addition, as a result of the shielding effect of the control grid 2 on the protective grid 3, as good as no primary electrons are directly to the protective grid ge long.
If an auxiliary grid 1 is then arranged around the protective grid 3, which prevents the passage of secondary electrons from the plate 5 to the grid 3 in the manner already described, all three disadvantageous phenomena mentioned at the beginning of the description are compensated for.
With the appropriate choice of the conditions, one can use the specified means, in addition to the high power required for a power amplifier, to achieve an internal resistance that is so great in relation to the impedance of the playback device (loudspeaker or the like) is that the current fluctuations in this device can have practically exactly the same course - as the voltage fluctuations of the control grid of the tube, so that the playback is undistorted.
In Fig. 8, a third type is given in which the electrons are prevented from returning to the protective grid who the. For this purpose, a grid 16 insulated from the latter is arranged directly outside the protective grille, which grid is connected to the anode 5 by conductors 17 and whose elements correspond to the elements of the protective grille and cover them almost entirely. If electrons now reverse their direction of movement in the space between 16 and 5, then the vast majority of these electrons reach the outer surfaces of the elements 16 and not the grid 3.
Finally, FIG. 9 shows a circuit for a pentode (5-electrode tube) in which the auxiliary grid -1 present between the anode 5 and the protective grid 3 is connected to a point whose voltage fluctuations are opposite in phase to those of the anode. For this purpose, the primary coil of a transformer is located in the plate circuit: 18, in whose secondary circuit the reproducer 10 is switched.
The auxiliary grid .1 is here conductively connected to the end of the @ el- # undä.rspule whose potential is shifted in phase with that of the anode uni 180 . This leads to the result that with a suitable choice of the dimensions of the electrodes and the C ratio of 1.8, the electrical field between the grids 3 and -1 is not influenced by potential fluctuations at the anode.
To the conclusion. notes that the following type of tube, which is not shown in the accompanying drawing. would at least partially correspond to the desired goal: the distance between the anode and that of the anode, the auxiliary electrode is initially selected to be so large that a strong space charge can form between these two electrodes. Some secondary electrons originating from the anode are then hindered by this space charge from going over to the auxiliary electrode mentioned.
