L'objet pointu peut présenter une seule pointe al et une tige a présentant en section transversale un contour sinueux et de telle manière que ces tiges a présentent une rai nure et une nervure sur chacun de leurs côtés comme représenté dans fig. 13 à 16 in clusivement et fig. 19;
Sheet metal fixing object. The invention relates to a pointed fixing object, made of sheet metal, obtained by cutting and stamping a blank, characterized in that it has a shank, a pointed part and a head, the shank having straight edges. , and being obtained by folding the blank around an axis parallel to said edges, so that the object has a leg with smooth, non-pleated walls, and whose cross section is constant over the entire length between the pointed part and the head.
The object according to the invention, for example linen nail, a staple, a point, a hook, a nail with legs, ete., Can be obtained by folding a sheet of metal sheet, or other flat material in one or more operations, preferably in a press or other machine comprising dies and bending or stamping punches.
In an object according to the invention having either one or two pointed ends, the length of each of these pointed ends or the length of each pair of similar ends measured in the axial direction is smaller than the width which existed at this point. part of the blank before the rod of the object has been bent, bent or arched; the length of the parallel rod is in any case more than twice the combined length of the head and the point.
It has been proposed to make a sheet metal railroad point having a U-shaped cross section on part of its shank and a pointed end formed by cutting the shank obliquely so that the point is aligned with the part. inside the back wall of the tip, and the pointed end bent inward to stiffen it.
It has also been proposed to make a nail, point or hook of sheet metal with a shank having parallel part walls in which grooves and ribs are provided and with a point cut so as to be in alignment with the curved walls and. with a pointed- or gouge-shaped end tapering off obliquely by cutting the stem obliquely from the point, starting from the inner or outer edge of the stem, in some cases for about a third of its length. The accompanying drawing shows ten embodiments of the object of the invention given to. as an example.

The same reference numerals relate to the same parts in all the figures. Sharp objects shaped according to the present invention, for example by means of sheet metal. are produced first of all in the form of X blanks which have a different shape for each model in order to allow these blanks to be folded, formed and completed in such a way as to give the various fixing objects described and represented below.
Each blank x has a rod with parallel edges terminated in one or more points a2 in the shape of a V which, when bent, exhibit a curvature a. '.
Articles of all shapes are made in such a way that each rod has a cross section of the same shape and size along its entire length.
In an object with two points, we will ensure that the plane parallel to the rod a which passes through these points also contains the top of the head, so that a blow applied axially on it is centered in relation to the head. at the tips.
The objects are all produced in such a way that they present along the entire length of their stem either a $ h shape or other sinuous shape or a key combination of curved and straight shape, or a open curved shape or angular shape in cross section.
The objects are also produced so as to have the same cross-section at each part of their pointed ends d. But, although all these retain in their transverse section the same thickness of metal as in the rod a, of which they are the continuation, their transverse section decreases in length as it approaches the ends a4 and they end last in a line representing the sharp edge of the object.
An object established in accordance with this invention may in each case have a head b which is a continuation of the rod a and which, in certain cases, is of cross section homologous to that of the rod a, but wider; said head b may form a shoulder b ', have protrusions V with notched keys or housings b3 formed to rai dir the head b, either before the fixed blank is bent or folded to its finished shape, or after.
For objects such as shown in fig. 15, 16, 17 and 18, the blank x has parts b4, on the head b and near the crown b "thereof, which are bent or bent so as to form flanges be either for pulling back the point (fig. 16 and 18), or to form a stop b on the head (fig. 15 and 16).
In blanks of the kind shown in FIGS. 4 and 7, a curved part a5 is provided at will, so that, when the blank x is bent so as to form a nail, with a head b, as shown in FIGS. 5, 6, 8 and 9 or key so as to form a point with a head b as shown in fig. 1.7 and in fig. 18, the protrusions b2 which overhang the rod a are bent in such a way that they occupy the positions shown in the planes of FIGS. 6, 9 and 18.
When a blank of the kind shown in FIG. 1 is used with a view to forming an object according to the invention, the pointed ends a 'and the rod a have cross sections as shown in FIGS. 2. 13, 14, 15, 16, 20 and 21 or other shapes with a sinuous contour, such as can be obtained by pleating, wrinkling or bending said blank x.
In the case of hooks of the kind shown in Figs. 13 and 14, each blank has a shape such as to allow the hook part c to be formed and each hook part c is of hollow or channel-shaped cross-section and can be cut obliquely. so as to form a point c 'as shown in. fig. 14. The nail-shaped shank of these hooks may have, in cross section, shapes as shown in FIGS. 1-3 and 14, or present other shapes with a sinuous outline.
In the case of staples of the kind shown in fig: 19, the two ends of the blank have been suitably cut to a point and the cross section of the rods a as well as the bridge part d have a cross section in the form of a $ as shown in the cross section (fig. 19); but they could have a transverse section such as shown in the plans of FIGS. 20 and 21.
The pointed object may have a single point a1 and a rod a having in cross section a sinuous contour and in such a way that these rods a have a groove and a rib on each of their sides as shown in FIG. 13 to 16 inclusive and fig. 19;
but the arrangement may be such that each rod a has two ribs and a groove on one of its sides and a rib and two grooves on its other side (fig. 20 and 21); they can also be established in such a way that the various cross sections of said rod a have an outline such that any rib or groove formed is parallel to the axis of the rod a.
The pointed object may also have two points a @ and a rod a having in cross section a combined shape of curved and straight lines (Fig. 6, 9 and 18) or else such as the rod a present in. cross section an open curved shape in the shape of a C (Fig. 11).
The rod a may also have in cross section a aii- 7ulaire V-shaped (Fig. 10) or an arcuate part and two straight or flat parts integral with the first or alternativ had, or even any arcuate shape; but, in all cases, each of the two pointed ends a, taken separately, forms a continuation of a flat part and also of an arched part of the rod a. as shown clearly in the plane of FIG. 18; or each pointed end has in cross section an arcuate shape of the same curvature as the.
part of the stem of which it forms the continuation and of which the. shape is easily visible, for example in the plane of FIG. 11.
The heads b of elous. according to the present invention. can be produced by an enlargement of a part extending the rod a, when they are of convex shape; they can also have projecting parts b2 which are provided for this purpose on the blank .r: said head b is in certain forms closed internally so as to produce, when viewed from the side, an angular shape or produce such other shape suitable for, form a stopper b \ or a 4shoulder bi; but in all cases the. head b has a crown b5 which is preferably curved.
Until. present, all nails to. hollow rod or fasteners having either the. shape of a wedge, that is to say that of a stem going in decreasing and not having angular points, split and fracture the wood or the material in which they are planted. Objects according to the invention do not have this drawback.
In objects established in accordance with. according to the present invention, the curved edges of the pointed ends have the. spiral or helix shape.
