Method for bringing about a change in the aggregate state of a substance to be treated with cold in a cooling system. The invention relates to a method for bringing about a change in the physical state of a substance to be treated with cold in a cooling system, in which the compression of the refrigerant takes place in a compressor which has at least two stages. As a change in the physical state, for example, the transformation of water into ice can be considered.
The novelty of the process is that part of the coolant is passed through a secondary circuit downstream of the condenser, in which, after expansion, it brings the substance to be treated as close as possible to the temperature of the change in aggregate state and then compresses it, bypassing the lower level stage, which practically only has to apply the cooling expenditure for the change in the physical state. higher compressor stage is returned.
In the accompanying drawing, a cooling system for producing ice in cells is illustrated, for example and schematically, which allows the new method to be carried out. 1 denotes a freezer box in which ice cells 2, which serve to hold the water to be frozen, can be used. In the freezer box 1, a cooling coil 3 is also brought under, to which the refrigerant flows through a line 4 and which is connected through a line 5 to the low-pressure stage of a compressor 6 still having a high-pressure stage HD. The two stages of this compressor 6 are connected to one another via a line 7.
A line 8 establishes a connection between the high pressure stage HD and a condenser 9, the latter being provided with a discharge line 10. This is divided into two branches 11, 12. The branch 11, in the 'shortly behind the branch 13, a reducing valve 14 is installed, forms part of a secondary circuit for part of the cold carrier.
This secondary circuit also has a coil 16 arranged in a precooler 15 for the water to be cooled and then frozen, a line 171 connected to this and to a heat exchanger 17, and a line 18 leading from the heat exchanger 17 to the line 7. The line 12 passes through the heat exchanger 17.
Between this line 12 and the line 4, a reducing valve 181 is installed. The water to be cooled and frozen flows to the precooler 15 through a line 19 and can be distributed from this to the individual freezing cells 2 with the aid of a line 20.
In the system described, part of the coolant goes downstream of the condenser 9 through the secondary circuit 11, 16, 171, .17, 18, where it experiences a pressure reduction at 14 and, as a result, a temperature decrease. Appropriate dimensioning and setting of the valve 14 ensure that the temperature is lowered so that the water in the pre-cooler 15 is cooled as close as possible to freezing point, for example to 2 C, so that the water in cells 2 is practically only heat must be withdrawn, which causes the change in aggregate state, i.e. the transition of the liquid water into solid ice.
This is brought about by the part of the refrigerant passing through the line 12, the valve 181 and the line 4, as well as the coil 3. Because the part of the refrigerant that only goes through the high pressure stage RD of the compressor 6 causes the water to be frozen to be pre-cooled, and only the part of the refrigerant that causes the water to freeze through both compressor stages ND, RD < / I> is passed, the freezing time can be shortened once; as a result, it is possible to get along with fewer cells.
Furthermore, the power requirement of the cooling system is lower, since the part of the refrigerant passing through the secondary circuit does not have to be compressed in such a high ratio; like the rest of the part going through both stages of the compressor 6. The process can of course not only be used for freezing water, but also for the treatment of other substances that experience a change in the aggregate state when heat is removed.
If the compressor has more than two stages, part of the refrigerant can only be passed through the top stage or then through the top stages of the compressor.
