Gas generating furnace and operating method for the same. When operating gas works, there is usually a strong change in gas demand, for example between the summer and winter months.
If a furnace that is sufficient for the larger gas requirement is kept in operation continuously, then one has a poorly utilized furnace and increased underfiring during the time when the gas requirement is lower. If a furnace that is sufficient for this purpose is in operation when the gas requirement is lower and a second furnace is added when the gas requirement is greater, the heating-up costs increase and the second furnace is also heavily worn down due to the heating-up and cooling-down.
The invention relates to an operating method for a gas-generating furnace which requires gas that changes greatly, for example in the summer versus the winter months, adapts without the need for heating up. so that the associated disadvantages are avoided. . According to the invention, a part of the degassing chambers of the furnace is continuously heated by burning heating gases, that is to say directly heated.
The remaining part of the degassing chambers is also directly heated at the moment when there is a greater demand for gas, whereas it is currently heated by a part of the exhaust gases that result from the direct heating of the first-mentioned part of the degassing chambers, i.e. indirectly.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of a gas generating furnace for executing the operating method according to the invention is illustrated in a vertical section.
The furnace has degassing spaces in horizontally lying chambers A, B. 2, 3, 4 and 5 are channels that can serve as combustion channels. On the right side of the same there is another channel 1, on the left one such 6. The right half of the furnace contains four degassing chambers A and the left four degassing chambers B. In the middle there is a partition between the chambers.
Channels 7, 7 'provided with sliders are used to feed generator gas into the combustion channels 9,. 9 'of the right respectively. left oven side. 10, 10 'are distribution channels into which channels 8, 8' provided with slides open. From the distribution channels 10, 10 'channels lead into the channels 9 respectively. 9 '.
These latter are respectively provided by channels 11 provided with slides. 11 'with exhaust gas collection channels 12 respectively. 12 'connected, into which channels 1 and b lead. The exhaust gas collecting ducts 12, 12 'open into the recuperation 13 or. 13 '. Slides 14, 14 'close the openings to the fox.
Provided with slides channels 16, 16 'connect the uppermost lekuperationskanal 15 respectively. 15 'one side with the distribution channel 10' respectively. 10 on the other side.
The operation of the gas generating furnace can be carried out in the following way: When the furnace is in full operation with full utilization of all degassing chambers by direct heating, channels 9, 9 'and channels 2, 3, 4 and 5 serve as combustion channels. The chambers B on the left side are heated just as strongly as the chambers A on the right side. The slides in channels 7, 7 ', 8, 8' are open. The slide valves in channels 11 and 11 'are closed, as are the slide valves in channels 16 and 16'. The slides 14 and 14 'are open. Generator gas is fed through the channels 7 and 7 'to the channels 9 and 9'.
Preheated air flows from the top recuperation duct 15 and 15 'through the ducts 8 and 8' into the distribution ducts 10 and 10, respectively. 10 'and from these to the right and left in the channels 9 respectively. 9 ', in which the generator gas is burned. All exhaust gases pull through the channels 1 and 6 in the exhaust gas collection channels 12 respectively. 12 ', of these in the recuperation 13 respectively. 13 'and through the open slides 14 and 14' to the fox.
With this type of heating, all degassing chambers A and B are operated with the same degassing duration, that is to say, for example, 6 to 24 hours depending on the size of the chambers.
If the demand for gas drops sharply, the slides in the ducts of the furnace are adjusted in such a way that only chambers A are heated directly, while chambers B are heated by part of the exhaust gases resulting from the direct heating of chambers A, he follows. The chambers A continue to work with the degassing time as before, while the chambers B are operated with a longer degassing time corresponding to the lower temperature of the exhaust gases. In this second case, nothing changes in the lining of the right-hand side of the furnace with chambers A.
The gate valves in the channels 7 and 8 remain open, the gate valves in the channels 11 and 16 are closed, as the supply of generator gas and air to the channels 9 'is cut off on the left side by the gate valve in the channels 7' and 8 'are closed. The slide in the channels 11 'and 16' who open the.
The combustion gases that form in the channels 9 rise through the channels 2 and 3 and are partly sucked off through the channel 1 to the right and partly through the channels 4, 5 and 6 to the left. The regulation of this suction to the right or to the left is done by the slide over 14 BEZW. 14 ', with which one has it in hand to lead all exhaust gases to one or the other side, or to adjust any distribution to both sides.
The exhaust gases falling to the right through the channel 1 collect in the exhaust gas collection channel 12 and heat by being guided through the recuperation channels 13, the right recuperation and preheat the combustion air. Since only a fraction of the combustion air is required with reduced heating, a fraction of the exhaust gases is sufficient to preheat this combustion air.
The exhaust gases outgoing to the left-hand furnace half follow the same path as the gases on the right-hand side through the channel 1, namely through the exhaust-gas collecting channel 12 'and the recuperation 13', provided they are drawn off through the channel 6.
The exhaust gas that passes through ducts 4 and 5 collects in ducts 9 ', which no longer serve as combustion ducts, but as exhaust gas collection ducts, passes through duct 11' and duct 12 ' and from there also enters the left recuperation. The preheated air from the left recuperation is fed through the channel 16 'to the distribution channel 10 of the right-hand furnace half.
If the furnace, as in the embodiment shown, is symmetrical, you can reverse the procedure described above in the same way, in that chambers B are heated directly and chambers A. are heated indirectly by the waste heat from chambers B.
The furnace could also be provided with inclined degassing chambers in the usual retort profiles or with vertical degassing chambers instead of hori zontal. Instead of arranging four chambers on each side of the central partition, a division into six chambers on one side and four chambers on the other side or any other subdivision can also be made.
The furnace could also be designed so that when part of the degassing chambers are indirectly heated, the preheated air from that part of the recuperation which is heated with the further cooled exhaust gases is not fed directly to the air distribution channels and thus to the generator gas, but rather in the part of the recuperation heated with the hotter exhaust gases,
namely in the upper part of this recuperation part. As a result, this part of the preheated air is finally further heated by the higher temperature of the exhaust gases and is heated to the same level as that part of the air which is preheated in the recuperation fed with hot exhaust gases.
