Protection installation for high current overhead power lines. The present invention relates to an installation for protecting high-current overhead electric lines, in particular tram networks in the event of breakage or fall of the traction wire.
In the installation according to the invention, a contactor mechanism hooked onto a protective wire stretched over the working wire on the path to be protected and electrically connected, on the one hand, to this protective wire and, on the other hand. hand, to the working wire, is arranged to establish an electrical connection between the protective wire and the working wire when the latter falls, the current thus introduced to the protective wire passing to earth by passing through the coil of the electro - triggering magnet of an automatic switch inserted in the supply line, which switch is then triggered to cut off the power supply to the working wire.
One embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a front view of the enclosure. FIG. \? shows the contactor in vertical cross section, and FIG. 8 is a front view of the rear casing of the contactor; Fig. 4 shows a front view of an automatic switch; Fig. 5 is a side elevation thereof, and FIG. 6 an end view; Fig. 7 shows a diagram of -coupling with the working wire intact, and FIG. 8 with the working thread broken.
The installation shown in the drawing is intended for a tram line. r is the working or pulling wire, and f is a protective wire stretched along the working wire at a certain distance above it, the two wires being well insulated from each other. Contactors D (fig. 7) are placed between all the poles and supports of the working wire, coupled in parallel between the working wire and the protection wire, and in all the supply lines 8 is interposed an automatic switch I of which the tripping electromagnet is connected in a The contactor D is hooked to the protective wire using a part 1 in the form of a flange welded to the protective wire.
This flange is made of brass plate and it is fixed to a fiber plate 2 by screws 3. To plate 2 is attached a lique metal box made up of two envelopes 4 and 5. In this box is housed a pulley 6 of which the hub is formed by a nut 7 and the axis of which is formed by a threaded rod 8 attached to the box. A coil spring 9 whose outer end is fixed to the casing 5 and the inner end to. the nut 7 tends to hold the pulley 6 in the position shown in the figure. On this pulley is wound a fine and flexible copper cable which makes several turns in the groove of said pulley.
This cable is secured to the pulley at one end by a small steel blade 10 and the other end is welded to a connecting piece 11 which, in turn, is welded to the working wire F. The nut 7 is provided with a contact stop 12. In part 4 of the box are arranged the beams 13 connected to each other by a small copper plate 14 placed on the piece of fiber 15 by means of the screws 16, on the 'one of which is fixed a copper wire 17 which establishes the connection between it and the flange 3, therefore with the protection wire (fig. 1, 2 and 3).
The automatic lever switch used to interrupt the supply line of the working wire is established as follows: On an insulating material base plate 18 (fig. 4 and 5) is mounted the switch mechanism in the form of a snap-breaking unipolar knife neur section of well-known construction. 24 is the support of the knife 22 which closes between the blades 21 of the contact 20 so that the current passes from the terminal 19 through 20, 21, 22 and the blades 23 of the support 24 to the terminal 25.
A tripping electromagnet 26 is mounted on the base plate and one of the terminals 27, of its winding, is connected by a connecting wire to the protection wire and the other, 28, is earthed, The armature 29 of the electromagnet 26 is fixed on the piece of fiber 30, which can rotate on the axis 31 of the switch and is provided with a nose 30a; when the frame is attracted by the excited mant, the nose 30a abuts against the stop 32 and drives the knife 22 -de way. trigger it by the cooperation of a res sort 33 hooked to a stop 3.1 which limits the operation of the lever 22.
The operation of the entire positive is as follows: Through. the arrangement of the contactor, the pulley thereof on which is wound the cable which is connected by the plate 11 to the working wire, has the effect that the movement of this working wire is not hampered, for example, when the trolley passes, the cable winds up and then unwinds slightly on the contactor louse within narrow limits. But when the working wire undergoes a break, it will cause in its fall the plate 11, as well as the cable connected to this plate, forcing the pulley 6 to turn rapidly on its axis 8. As a result of this rotation, the nut 7 which constitutes its means, by being screwed on the screw 8, forces the pulley to advance until contact is established between its stop 12 and one of the brushes 13.
The current of the working wire passes through one of these brushes and the conductor 17 to the protection wire and, by means of the latter, it causes the automatic switch to trip in the following manner: The current which supplies the working wire passes through the parts 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 of the switch. The protective wire and connected by a wire to terminal 27 of the electromagnet 26, which, on the other hand, is put to. earth by its terminal 28. When the protective wire receives a current, either because of the breakage of the working wire or because of the fall of another line on the protective wire, this current makes operate the electromagnet 26 , which attracts its armature 29, causing, by means of the part 30, the lever 22 which is released and opens the supply circuit S of the working wire.
The spring 33 makes this tripping sudden enough to prevent the formation of arcs between the parts 22 and 21. The working cable is then tension-free before falling to the ground and causing accidents or at least a short-circuit. .
