Kraftanlage.
In. Fig. 5 ist dieser Vorgang diagram matisch dargestellt.
Power plant. The invention relates to a new, working with any propellants power plant and is based on a peculiar utilization of the aviation piston engines. Aircraft piston engines have already been proposed many times. As a result of the elimination of the flywheel, the linkage, the crankshaft and bearings, these machines are of exceptional structural simplicity; they allow higher piston pressures, have lower mechanical losses and therefore a high degree of efficiency can be expected. Their application has so far been limited primarily to the generation of compressed air or pressurized water; But it has also been proposed to directly generate electrical energy through the reciprocating movement of the piston.
One disadvantage was previously inherent in all linkage and flywheelless piston machines: the uneven gait and the tendency to stop.
The subject matter of the invention now relates to a power plant with a flying piston engine, which generates electrical energy through its back and forth movement and which is electrically coupled to a device which generates compensating currents in the event of an out-of-step situation, through whose synchronizing forces the flying piston engine becomes more even Movement is kept. This facility can consist of a flywheel generator or a powerful electrical network.
Instead of the flywheel of the conventional piston machine, there is the flywheel of a fast-running alternating current generator that is electrically coupled to the reciprocating generator operated by the flying piston machine, or a flywheel that sits on the shaft of this rotating generator .
In place of the linkage of the ordinary piston machine that limits the stroke and the number of backlashes, the synchronizing forces also occur here by compensating currents that are triggered as soon as the voltage curve of the reciprocating generator no longer matches that of the flywheel generator or a forceful
EMI0001.0003
term network to which the reciprocating generator is connected matches.
To drive the aviation piston engine who uses the flammable gas mixtures with advantage; however, the system can also be operated with steam. In the latter case, the aviation piston machine can be used, for example, as a high-pressure part, while the low-pressure part is an ordinary piston machine or turbine that further processes the exhaust steam of the aviation piston engine. The reciprocating generator of the flying piston engine is then conveniently electrically coupled to the rotating generator of the piston machine or the turbine, and in this way the constant speed of the flying piston machine is influenced by the centrifugal masses of the rotating machines.
Systems of the type mentioned can also be built with other propellants with various interconnections of the mechanical and electrical machines.
In the figures, some exemplary embodiments are illustrated schematically. Fig. 1 shows the connection of a flying piston engine with a flywheel generator; Fig. 2 and 3 are exemplary embodiments of the aviation piston engine, namely Fig. 2 shows a partial cal matic section through a simple shape of the cylinder and the reciprocating generator, while Fig. 3 details the structural design of such an aviation piston engine with back - and forward generator are shown; 4 and 5 diagrammatically represent the pressure, speed and working conditions of the system; Fig. 6 shows an Ausfüh approximately example of a system for steam operation and the application of the flying piston machine as a high-pressure part and a turbine as a low-pressure part of the system.
In Fig. 1 1 and 2 are the working pistons, 3 and 4 are the cylinders of the Flugkol benmotors. 10 is the field magnet of a generator, 15 is its armature, 20 and 21 are the lines leading from the armature winding to the consumption network. A rotating flywheel generator 25 is connected to the generator 10, 15. In the event of changes in the speed of the flywheel generator 25, as caused by changes in the load on the airborne piston engine 10, 15, any device not shown in the drawing can respond that changes the filling or mixture formation of the airborne piston engine.
In Fig. 2, 1 and 2 are in turn the Ar beitskolben, 3 and 4 are the cylinders of a double-ended aviation piston engine. The movement of the pistons 1, 2 can be carried out by means of steam, compressed air, deflagrating gas mixtures or the like. A field magnet 10 is rigidly connected to the two pistons by a rod 5, 6. The brushes 12, 13 the NEN for the supply of direct current for the excitation of the field magnet 10; 15 is the anchor; it consists of radially provided egg senblechen that give the field magnet 10 to. The winding of the armature consists of cylindrical coils that are inserted into grooves. The generated alternating current can be picked up at 20 and 21.
In the above it was assumed that the propellant acting on the pistons 1, 2 of the aviation piston engine is essentially sufficient to accelerate the reciprocating parts in such a way that their number of cycles corresponds to the required number of periods of the current to be supplied to the outside. If, on the other hand, the masses of the reciprocating parts are very large compared to the accelerating forces of the propellant, the speed and number of cycles of the reciprocating parts can be reduced to the required level by the multi-pole design of the flying piston generator the number of periods of the generator current generated remains unchanged.
However, it can also be the case that, for example, in the case of large design differences or low piston pressures, it is undesirable or impossible to reduce the number of cycles sufficiently by using multiple poles in the generator.
The system can then be designed in a form that makes it possible to give the reciprocating parts of the same any weight and a number of backlashes independent of the piston forces. This can be achieved in that the flywheel generator is not only built to maintain the gear, but also to an excellent extent to accelerate the masses moving back and forth. The acceleration of the back and forth the parts to the speed required to comply with the game number is then essentially done by the electrical energy supplied by the flywheel generator and received by the flying piston generator operating as a motor.
When the masses are delayed, this energy is returned from the flying piston generator to the flywheel generator, with the flywheel generator now working as a motor. The work done in the generators can be a multiple of the useful work that can be delivered to the outside. The latter is the work done by the propellant, minus the losses of the flying piston generator and the flywheel generator. If the current generated by the Flugkolbengenera tor has the same number of periods as the required useful current, the useful current can be taken directly from the two generators.
As is well known, it is important that the current working on a network should be as sinusoidal as possible. The current generated by the flying piston motor approaches the required sinusoidal curve the more complete the speed curve in the movement of the moving parts is forced by the flywheel generator.
With large powers and dimensions of the flying piston engine and flying piston generator, the number of periods that can be achieved by the flying piston generator can, however, also be more or less below the number of periods of the useful current. The flywheel generator can then build for a small number of periods and the useful current can be generated by a special generator that is coupled to the flywheel generator. In this case the choice of the number of periods of the flywheel generator is solely dependent on the achievable number of backlashes and poles of the flying piston generator and any deviation of the generated current from the sine curve is irrelevant, since this auxiliary current does not work on any external network.
If the momentum and power of the flywheel generator are large enough to maintain the reciprocating masses in the prescribed movement during a stroke even without the driving piston forces, the aviation piston engine can also be operated, for example, as a four-stroke engine (internal combustion engine), that is on each working stroke in two opposite cylinders, an idle stroke for sucking in the fresh or pushing off the burned mixture can follow.
In the embodiment of the Flugkol benmotors with generator according to FIG. 3, 1 and 2 are the working pistons, 3 and 4 are the cylinders of the Flugkolbenmotor. The calves 1 and 2 are set in rapid reciprocating motion by some kind of propellant, and the two iron plates 60 and 61 are guided past the stator 62 and 63 made of sheet metal. Four coils 64 through which direct current flows excite a strong magnetic field, the flow of force of which is closed by the iron plates 60 and 61. In grooves of the stator copper windings 66 are inserted, in which electric current is generated as a result of the displacement of the magnetic force field occurring with the movement of the plates.
An intermediate piece 67 made of non-magnetic material is used to connect the two iron plates 60, 61.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 3, crude oil is assumed as the driving agent, which is processed according to the known Dieselverfah, namely in two-stroke cycles. For example, the flushing and combustion air is supplied through the pipe 70, while the exhaust gases escape at 71. The valve housing 72 contains the injection nozzle.
To maintain the synchronism of the reciprocating parts, the stator winding is connected to a flywheel generator. The following applies to the cooperation between the flying piston engine and the flywheel generator: If the energy required to move a flying piston generator is to be applied by the piston forces alone for each stroke, the "excess area" of the piston forces required to accelerate the reciprocating masses must be in each case equal to the piston position
EMI0004.0002
if M is the mass of the reciprocating parts and v is the speed of the same at the point in time.
It must also be the time it takes to cover a stroke (this is the expression
EMI0004.0003
where ds means the differential of the piston path s) equal to the duration of half a period of the alternating current to be generated. In Fig. 4, the ratios are shown diagrammatically. It is the line a the pressure curve of the expanding propellant (steam, gas or the like). The area it encloses is the work given to the piston. The line b represents the electrical energy generated in each piston position. The area enclosed by it is the electrical work generated per stroke. In addition to this work to be applied by the propellant, there is also the compression work for the propellant on the opposite side of the piston and the piston friction, etc.
These "negative" work surfaces are shown by line c. The entire negative working area is shown by line d. The balance of forces is established when the positive working area of the line a is equal to the negative working area of the line d. If the flying piston generator works on its own, the "excess area" e, which is indicated in the diagram by the oblique hatching, is decisive for the acceleration of the reciprocating masses and their number of cycles. This gives the masses a velocity v, which is still given for each point of the piston position by the following known relationship:
EMI0004.0004
A is the driving force of the line, D is the inhibiting force of the line, d, M is the reciprocating mass and s is the piston travel.
The course of the speed is shown by the line f. If the time required for a stroke is to coincide with that of half the number of periods of the current to be generated, the mass M must therefore have a very specific size.
According to the embodiment of the invention according to FIGS. 1 to 3, the flying piston generator is electrically coupled to a flywheel generator or switched to a strong network in order to bring about the synchronism of the flying piston engine. So it is not the piston forces alone that determine the speed curve of the parts going back and forth. Since the flywheel generator has constant angular velocity, the curve of its voltage (as well as that of a network) will generally approach a sine curve, while the voltage curve of the current generated by the flight piston generator deviates more or less from such a curve.
In the systems, therefore, compensating currents occur, connected in parallel, which generate synchronizing forces that seek to balance the voltage curve and bring the speed curve of both generators closer. The speed of the aviation piston engine ver runs after parallel connection no longer according to curve f, but approximately according to curve g. The synchronizing forces (represented by areas h and i) which are effective in correcting the speed curve are small as long as the piston forces are essentially sufficient to accelerate the masses.
However, it can also happen that, for structural reasons, the masses are larger than they are allowed to be according to the above relationship. The piston forces alone are then not sufficient to bring the masses to the speed required to complete the stroke in the time determined by the number of periods.
Here, the energy stored in the flywheel generator's flywheel generator can be used to contribute by supplying the energy required over and above the piston forces to accelerate the reciprocating masses in the form of electrical energy from the flywheel generator to the flying piston generator Excess energy from the masses during their deceleration such as the one that is returned to the flywheel generator.
In. Fig. 5 this process is shown diagrammatically. In addition to the (diagonally hatched) area e from the piston forces of the line a, which the masses could only have accelerated according to curve f, there is also the working area h provided by the flywheel generator. The roughly equal working areas i1 and i2 represent the electrical work that is returned to the flywheel generator by the delayed masses. The working areas h and i can be a multiple of the working area of the aviation piston engine. Accordingly, the generators must also be built for the increased turnover.
The greater the electrical energy converted is compared to the work output of the aviation piston engine, the closer the speed curve of the reciprocating generator also approaches that of the flywheel generator and the more the voltage curves of the two systems correspond to the speed curves. The speed profile forced by the reaction from the flywheel generator is shown by curve k.
The power plant according to the invention offers particular advantages for processing high-pressure water vapor. It is known that the processing of steam in steam turbines is difficult because of the small amounts of steam even at high power levels. With the piston machine, it is primarily the high rod pressures that make operation and construction difficult. The aviation piston engine does not require a linkage, it allows significantly higher piston speeds, and the small steam volumes, which are unfavorable in turbines, are only advantageous in the aviation piston engine. Now it is true that rodless steam piston engines are already known; So far, however, they have only been used for pumping water, since it was not possible to achieve the uniform rate required for other purposes. In contrast, this can be achieved with systems according to the present invention.
A further embodiment of the invention is the use of the flying piston engine as a high pressure stage of a steam power plant or as a so-called upstream machine for high pressure systems. Such a machine can, for example, work as follows: In the aviation piston engine, the high-pressure steam expands up to a certain pressure, whereby the reciprocating part of the aviation piston engine is set in rapid motion, while the low-pressure machine exhausts the steam from the aviation piston engine further processed on kondensatardruck. Both a piston machine and a steam turbine can be used as the low-pressure machine.
This low-pressure machine drives a generator with which the generator of the aviation piston engine is switched in parallel. Since the power on the upstream and low-pressure machines is usually distributed in such a way that the steam that flows into the low-pressure machine has the pressure that is still considered "normal" today (10 to 20 atm.), The result is that the low-pressure machine has the receives double to triple the power of the flying piston engine working as a ballast. The gear of the flying piston engine is thus completely controlled by this generator, to which that of the flying piston engine is electrically coupled, due to the greater power and the significant moment of inertia of the low-pressure machine generator.
The special flywheel generator, which is required, for example, in the embodiment according to FIG. 1 to maintain the gear, can therefore be dispensed with here. For reasons of the dependence of the number of periods on the number of games and since the electricity generated by the reciprocating generator can differ more or less from the mostly ver long sine curve, it may be advantageous not to give the electricity generated by the Flugkolbengenera tor to the network , but to use it to drive a motor that bezw with the low pressure machine. is mechanically coupled to its generator.
In Fig. 6, a power plant of this type is shown schematically. 1 and 2 are the Ar beitskolben, 3 and 4 are the cylinders of the flight piston engine, 10 is the field magnet and 15 is the armature of the flight piston generator. 20 and 21 are the lines branching off from the armature winding. 30 is a steam boiler, 32 a turbine, 34 a rotating generator and 36 an electric motor. The steam generated in the boiler 30 goes through the lines 40 to the aviation piston engine, which may be formed out, for example, as a so-called DC machine. In the windings 42 of the flying piston generator 10 alternating current is generated by the reciprocating movement of the field magnet. This can serve to drive the motor 36, as a result of which the work generated in the aero-piston engine is transferred to the turbine shaft.
If, for whatever reason, the number of cycles of the aviation piston engine falls short of the number of cycles of the motor 36, the motor works as a generator and outputs power to the generator 10, 15 of the aviation piston engine, whereby the latter now working as a motor tries to restore the required number of cycles .
The expanded to a certain back pressure steam leaves through the slots 45, 46, the cylinder and is collected in the container 50, whereupon it flows to the low pressure turbine 32 and is exploited up to a vacuum in the condenser 55 beat down.
