Sealed bearing for rotating shaft. The present invention relates to a sealed bearing for a rotary shaft of the kind comprising, in a chamber, a sleeve mounted on the shaft so as to participate in the rotation of the latter while running smoothly on it and that a spring presses against a seal pressing on the bearing and surrounding the shaft. In bearings of this kind, the sleeve, because it must run smoothly on the shaft, cannot be fitted exactly over it, so that a defect in the shaft often occurs at this point. sealing. The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback. It is characterized in that a stuffing box is mounted between the sleeve and the shaft and is clamped by the aforementioned spring.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention as well as a variant.
Fig. 1 relates to the embodiment and FIG. 2 to the variant.
In fig. 1, A is the casing of a compressor of a sulfur dioxide refrigeration machine. B is the motor shaft actuating, via a crankshaft, the connecting rod C of the compressor piston; this shaft, mounted in two ball bearings, rotates in a special housing D fixed to the compressor housing A and carrying an idler pulley E; a pulley F is fixed to the outer end of the shaft B. In the housing D is made the chamber 1 which the duct 2 allows to put in communication with a pressurized oil tank. In this chamber is disposed the bronze sleeve 3 which, by means of a key 4 and a groove 5, is mounted on the shaft B so as to be able to rotate with the latter while sliding, on him.
This man chon presses on a steel ring 6 which a prisoner 7 prevents from turning and which itself presses on a felt or leather washer 8 housed in a circular recess of the bearing. Between the shaft B and the sleeve 3 is arranged a stuffing box comprising a stuffing material 9 that a cylinder 10 compresses between the shaft and the sleeve. 11 is a sleeve which can be smoothed over the sleeve 3 and provided with a shoulder 12 which presses against the cylinder 10. At the other end of the chamber 1 there is a completely similar device comprising a sleeve in bronze 18 rotating with the shaft B, but being able to slide relative to it, and which presses against the steel ring 14, which itself presses against a felt or leather washer 15.
Between the sleeve 13 and the shaft B is also disposed a stuffing box formed of a stuffing material 16, and a sliding cylinder 17 intended to press this material between the shaft and the sleeve. 18 is a compression spring arranged between the cylinder 17 and the sliding sleeve 11.
The spring 18 moves the sleeve 11 from left to right and the shoulder 12 of the latter clamps the stuffing box, then, this tightening carried out fully, also drives the sleeve 3; this one which turns with the shaft B constantly presses on the steel ring 6 which it does not rotate; the wear between these two parts is continuously recaptured thanks to the spring 18. The steel ring 6 in turn presses against the washer 8, the latter thus forming a tight seal all around the place where the shaft B comes out of the casing. D. The gland 9-10 prevents fluid from passing between the sleeves 3 and the shaft B. The sealing device placed to the left of the chamber 1 works in the same way.
The variant of FIG. 2 relates to a methyl chloride refrigeration machine compressor. The chamber 1 communicates directly with the compressor through the orifices 19 so that the glycerin contained in the crankshaft chamber of the latter can enter directly into the chamber 1. A seal where the shaft B enters the chamber. the compressor casing is therefore unnecessary, which is why the spring 18 bears on the left on a ring 20 pressing by means of a ball bearing on the wall of said casing. For the rest, the construction is the same as that described in fig. 1.
