Fire extinguishing procedure and device for its implementation. It is well known that in many cases of damaging fire, extinguishing with powder extinguishing agents is much more advantageous than extinguishing with water. The powder used for extinguishing was blown onto the burning objects with inert gases stored under pressure in bottles, for example with carbon dioxide.
This extinguishing process is very effective and harmless to the items saved by the fire, but this process has the disadvantage that the carbonic acid escapes from the bottles after a long period of standing, which, apart from the loss of material, harbors the risk of the pressure medium at the moment the danger does not exist. An even greater disadvantage of this process is that the pressure medium is only available to a limited extent, so that in the case of greater fire hazards the carbon acid is quickly consumed, which can lead to a stoppage in extinguishing.
The present invention aims to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned, which is achieved in the sense of the invention in that the exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine are used as the conveying gas.
The exhaust gases of the internal combustion engine are expediently cooled down and then compressed to the required pressure with the aid of a compressor, whereupon the powder conveyed out of the powder container with the compressed gases is blown onto the point of the fire to be extinguished.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of a fire extinguishing device suitable for carrying out the method is illustrated.
1 denotes the powder container; The extinguishing powder is fed from this container through the feed screw 2 to the nozzle 3. 4 denotes an internal combustion engine, the exhaust gases of which escape through the pipe 5. The pipe 5 opens at 6 into a Robrkühler 7, through which the exhaust gases flow and are cooled so that the gases leave the cooling device through the pipe 8 cooled. The tube 8 opens into a compressor 9 which is driven by the motor with the aid of the shaft 10; the same shaft drives the conveyor screw 2 with the aid of the belt drive 11.
The compressor 9 compresses the gases coming out of the pipe 8 to the required pressure and conveys them through the housing 12 to the nozzle 3. The extinguishing powder, which is also conveyed to the nozzle, is blown into the pipe socket 13 by the pressurized gases the hose used for extinguishing connects in a known manner. The cooling device 7 used to cool the exhaust gases can be of any type; In the drawing, for example, a pipe cooling device with air flow is illustrated ver, through the pipes 14 an Ex house gate 15 air penetrated, which can enter through the mouths 16.
The exhaust gases that the compressor 9 sucks in from the cooling device 7 find their way between the pipes 14 so that they are cooled by the air flowing through the pipes 14. The exhaustor 15 is driven through the shaft 10 of the engine with the aid of the belt gear 17. Of course, the cooling device can also be designed as a water cooler in the manner of Ra diators or in any other desired manner. In the pipeline 18 connecting the cooling device 7 to the exhaustor 15 there is a flap 19 which, in the position shown, establishes the connection between the cooling device and the exhaustor. If this flap is rotated 90 from the position shown, the exhaustor sucks in the outside air through the pipe attachment 20.
After the fire has been extinguished, the gases blown to the fireplace can easily be sucked off again with the help of the Exharistor 15 if a suction hose leading to the fireplace is coupled to the pipe socket 20 Minutes to be made accessible again.
If the exhaust gases of the engine 4 were not sufficient to transport the extinguishing powder, or if the activity of the compressor 9 is to follow
