Purification device by filtration of stale air enclosed in spaces without ventilation. There are air purification and filtration devices based on the principle of evacuating by suction the stale air contained in a room and its replacement by fresh air, brought in from outside by special installations.
These installations, while being storytellers. have drawbacks in that the renewal causes air currents that are quite annoying for some people. These installations must, in fact, be combined with heating installations, in order to prevent the cooling of the rooms in which the air is renewed according to this method.
To overcome the drawbacks reported. the present invention relates to a device for purifying by filtration of the vitiated air enclosed in spaces devoid of ventilation. According to this invention, it is always the same air contained in any room or any room which passes into the device where it is purified of smoke or other substances which have altered its purity and put back into circulation, without calling to fresh air from outside.
The appended drawing, given by way of example, represents an embodiment of the positive device which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 are elevations of the positive say, with some parts in section; the. fig.3 schematically shows the location of this device in the corner of any room.
In the embodiment shown, the device comprises a compressor unit A, in this case composed of a rotating fan 1, coupled directly to a small electric motor 2, the supply current of which is supplied by the. driving 3.
The suction hole 4, of the fan 1 starts from the center and is extended by a tube 5, in the vertical direction, towards the ceiling C111 lo cal. The tube ends with a mouth 6, of flared shape, provided with: -a protective member 7, for example a fine sieve of the tines to prevent -to some extent the penetration into the interior of the body device any. other than air. The discharge opening 8, tangent to the casing of the fan 1, has the tubular shape oriented downwards.
It plunges into a tank 9 placed in a sealed box 10, which at the same time serves as a base for the compressor unit A.
The tank 9 is filled with air purifying liquid alum, for example hydrogen peroxide, which constitutes a filtration substance. very effective for stale air. The tube 8 is therefore embedded in the container 9, its lower end being extended to the bottom of the tank.
Finally, at the upper part of the box 10 is fitted a tube 11, intended for the outlet of the filtered air. This tube is curved downwards and its lower end is provided with a fine screen 12, serving as a protective member for the same purpose as the argan of the suction tube.
The device operates in the following manner. The stale air, trapped in the room, is sucked into the ceiling region, as indicated by the small arrows in fig. 1, 2 and 3, through the mouth 6 and brought through the pipe 5 into the air pump 1, it must be delivered through the pipe 8 into the puration tank 9. The stale air is forced to pass through the liquid layer contained in the receptacle 9 and to go back purified in the box 10, from where it automatically leaves the chamber through the tube 11, as indicated by the small arrows of fi g. 1, 2 and 3. The course of the air bubbles in the purification tank is shown in figs. l and 2 by small arrows.
Instead of hydrogen peroxide, other substances that can purify the air can be used. It is also possible to omit the tank 9 and fill the box with cotton or cotton wool, so that the stale air discharged through this cotton wool, whether or not soaked with purifying or disinfecting substances, is filtered and thus made suitable for the circulation. tion in the same chamber from which it has just been taken.
The device described is particularly suitable for purifying the air in hospitals and clinics, in meeting rooms, kitchens, restaurants, cafes, workshops, postal offices or others. It is also suitable for purifying the air in mine galleries, railway or metropolitan tunnels, ship holds, casemates, greenhouses and in general in closed rooms where it is necessary to operate. purify the air without renewing it and without making any changes to its temperature.
