La fig. 1 est le schéma général dans la position initiale des balais; La fig. 2 est le schéma du transformateur auxiliaire dans sa position correspondant à fi g. 1 La fig. 3 est le même schéma que fig. 1 après un déplacement partiel des balais; La fig. 4 est le même schéma que fig. 1 après un nouvel avancement des balais et la rotation d'un quart du pas bipolaire de la bobine mobile du transformateur auxiliaire; La fig. :5 est le schéma du transforma teur auxiliaire dans la position correspondant à lafi g. 4 ;
Switching device for disconnected transformers. It is known that disconnected transformers are generally used as step-up boosters, either inserted into a feeder whose voltage is to be modified, or added to a main transformer whose secondary voltage is to be modified. In the latter case, they sometimes form a body with it, in the form of additional sockets on one of the windings.
When it comes to modifying the voltage under load, the sections of the disconnected transformer are connected to a button device, of the accumulator reducing type; the movable cursor carries two rubbers, one main, generally stationary on the key which releases the bite, the other auxiliary, connected to the main one by a so-called "passage" resistance intervening only during the maneuver, to allow passage from one key to the next without interrupting the line current.
It is also known that the passage resistance has the effect of); mimicking the short-circuit current of the section during the passage of the wiper from one key to the next. The resistance value is imposed by the line current which circulates there for an instant. lt is obvious that. if this resistance were infinitely large, it would be equivalent to a momentary break in the line current, which would present major drawbacks (violent fluctuation on the line and dangerous arc on the wiper.
The consequence of this state of affairs is the limitation of the use of isolating transformers with switching under load, to small units, such that the cutting sparks at the brushes remain harmless for the contacts and the wipers.
The object of the present invention is a switching device for disconnected transformers making it possible to pass from one key to the next without appreciable spark, whatever the size of the disconnected transformer, the size of the sections and the current load. .
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device, as well as a variant of the auxiliary transformer.
Fig. 1 is the general diagram in the initial position of the brushes; Fig. 2 is the diagram of the auxiliary transformer in its position corresponding to fi g. 1 Fig. 3 is the same diagram as FIG. 1 after partial displacement of the brushes; Fig. 4 is the same diagram as FIG. 1 after further advancement of the brushes and the rotation of a quarter of the bipolar pitch of the voice coil of the auxiliary transformer; Fig. : 5 is the diagram of the auxiliary transformer in the position corresponding to fi g. 4;
Fig. 6 is a variant of the embodiment of the auxiliary transformer with an enlarged air gap.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 to 5, the passage brush Bs of the sectioned transformer T is connected to the main brush Bi by the secondary winding of an auxiliary transformer Ta which is discussed below. The excitation of this auxiliary transformer T. is taken at the terminals of the disconnected transformer, for example at the two terminals a1 and an, so that the electromotive force induced in the auxiliary transformer is in phase, within 180, with the electromotive force of the sectioned transformer and, consequently, with the voltage between consecutive pads of the sectioned transformer.
The auxiliary transformer is set up in a way similar to that of an induction regulator, in that the secondary can move with respect to the primary P ,, and only be traversed by a variable fraction of the flux. The secondary winding Sa is therefore placed on a rotor capable of rotating in a stator comprising the primaii-eP winding,. In the position shown in fig. 5, the excitation flux therefore passes entirely through the secondary winding.
&,. In the position represented by FIG. 2, on the other hand, the excitation flux passes on either side of the secondary rolling, so that the induced electromotive force is zero.
The auxiliary transformer differs, however, from the induction regulator by the presence of a third winding C, closed on itself, which can, by con-equent, be executed in uninsulated wire, and located in the stator, at right angles. of the excitation winding, as shown in FIG. 2 and 5.
The purpose of this winding is to put the secondary winding in a magnetic short-circuit, when the latter is in the coaxial position (fig. 2); a current flowing in the secondary winding &, will induce in the short-circuited coil a current of the same magneto-motive force, so that there will be no magnetic field and, consequently, no electromotive force opposing the current flow. The voltage across the secondary winding.
daire will therefore be reduced to the value necessary to make the current circulate through a circuit of ohmic resistance and given dispersion, that is to say to little.
Finally, it should be noted that this winding Ca being placed at a right angle to the excitation winding P. has no influence on it.
The operation of the commutation is as follows: Assuming a movement of the brushes from left to right, from one key to the next, as indicated by the arrow in fig. 1, when brush B #., Comes into contact with key a (fig. 3) the secondary winding & of the auxiliary transformer will be located at right angles to the primary winding Pp, so that n ' being the seat of any electromotive force, it can be put cry short-circuit without inconvenience for the two brushes Bi and Bz resting on the same key a ,.
When, in the rest of the movement, the main brush will have left the a button, and will be between ax and the next (fig. 4), the line current will pass through the secondary winding & and thanks to the short winding. circuit C ,,, the voltage at the terminals of this winding, that is to say the voltage between the two brushes Bi and Bz will be zero, so that Bi will have left the as button without spark.
While the brush Bi remains between the two consecutive keys a., And a5 (FIG. 4), the secondary Pa is moved so as to occupy the position coaxial with the primary winding. The coils being dimensioned so as to produce in this position a voltage at the terminals BL and Bi equal and, as we saw above, in phase with the voltage between consecutive keys, the wiper Bi now has the same potential as the ay key, and can come into contact with it without spark.
For the same reason, the brush Bz can leave the key a. ,, without spark, since its potential is that of the key a.y reduced by an electromotive force equal to the voltage between the keys supplied by the secondary of the auxiliary transformer. Finally, the movement ends with a return of the induction to the initial position shown in FIG. 1, the line current now passing directly through the main brush Bi which is located on the next key.
It can therefore be seen that the principle of this positive device consists in creating between the two brushes an electromotive force equal and opposite to the voltage between consecutive keys and to make it disappear by a simple rotation of the armature of the auxiliary transformer, the movement of the 'induced being combined mechanically with the movement of the brushes so that they come into contact with the keys or leave them at the same potential. The mechanical connection between cursor and armature is very simple, the advancement from one key to another producing a rotation of a quarter turn in a determined direction and its return to the origin by the same path.
In the variant shown in FIG. 6, instead of the short-circuited winding Ca, the auxiliary transformer may include an increase in the air gap e such that despite the magnetomotive force produced by the secondary current, the magnetic field is almost zero.
Instead of moving the secondary winding, it is possible to reverse the mechanical construction and move the inductor winding integral with the short-circuit winding. In this case, the fixed secondary winding remains electrically connected with the wipers. The inductor winding is then mechanically connected with the cursor which ensures its displacement.
The device can also be set up with any number of poles, such as an induction regulator.
In the case of polyphase current, all the phases can be placed in the same device, as is the case in an induction regulator, the different windings corresponding to each of the phases being geometrically offset by an angle corresponding to phase angle.
