Abstract
Steeping is the soaking in liquid (usually water) of a solid, usually so as to extract flavours or to soften it. The specific process of teas being prepared for drinking by leaving the leaves in heated water to release the flavour and nutrients is known as steeping. Steeping at higher temperatures is ideal however household kettles don't heat up like a commercial machine would so the heat escapes out of the mug faster at home making for inconsistencies each time. The idea of a tea steeping lid is to keep the heat in and consistent and to fit on virtually all types of mugs/cups used for hot liquids, using food grade stainless steel, ceramic (or silicone for a lighter option) you would hold the top knob that resembles a tea pot lid and place the lid on top of the mug, trapping the heat inside. This would be circular and slightly bigger than the rim of the cup/mug.
