Moocle Hair Curling and Waving Appliance Background of the Invention Field of the Invention This invention relates to the Moocle hair curling and waving appliance having two separate devices joined together to make one hair styling appliance, whereby the first device is a hair styling tool, used to wind strands of hair as a preparation for the hair curling and waving process.
lo The second device which is the heated clutch, grips onto the hair styling tool and radiates heat to the wound hair for the setting of curls and waves to the head of hair.
Description of Related Prior Art There are many hair curling devices that are known and used in the art. Such devices are known as elongated flexible hair curlers, heated hair curlers and curling irons. As disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 1,301,581 to Goeller, the elongated flexible hair curlers were created to allow clip-less strands of hair to be wound around the heated curlers, thus achieving ringlets.
Similarly, the microwaveable heated hair curlers disclosed in U.S. Pat. No.
1,328,488 to Gibbon, improved tubular-bodied curlers made of a blend of rubber to best retain heat in order to bend hair into spirally locks. As well, disclosed in the Germany Patent No. 2,240,986 to Henninger, Janouch, Jung, Kern and Liebenthal, is an improved styling/curling iron with a handle portion, a heating and cooling portion to create a spirally curl in a strand of hair by winding it around the heating and cooling portion of the device.
While the above mentioned devices are known in the prior art for curling hair, there is a need to introduce a hair tool that will provide a
2 practical and user friendly styling option, as well as provide other hair styling results to people inside and outside the professional field.
It is an object of the invention to provide an option not only to create a head of spirally curls but to also create natural looking, wavy and beach-tousled hair, whereby hair flows in zigzagging movements.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a hair styling appliance capable of being heated and retaining just the right amount of heat, so that it may be applied to the hair in order to bend the hair for a longer lasting wearable style. As well, it is the object of the invention to provide a tool lo that is safe to be handled by all without the discomfort and fear related to the temperature of the tool, while still providing sufficient heat in order to facilitate the setting of curls and waves.
Another object of the invention is to create a sleek and discreet exterior for the hair styling appliance, whereby the user may leave the security of the home to venture out into public places while the hair styling appliance is in use. Similarly, it is also the object of the invention to allow the user to move about, hands free to engage in other tasks while waiting for the curls and waves to set.
Summary of the Invention The above mentioned objectives of the invention are achieved by creating a hair curling and waving appliance comprising of two separate devices joined together to make one hair styling appliance. The first device, also known as the hair styling tool or base, is secured closely to the back of the head for the purpose of winding and pre-forming strands of hair to create the desired hairstyle. The device is comprised of a slim curved base that is two halves of a rounded square or oval-like shaped plate, a multiplicity of deep, beveled rim, circular shaped and heat sustaining
3 plates, a multiplicity of clip-like small fasteners and overlapping comb-like collectors, held together by a hinge-like link and a latch-like connector.
Hair strands are gathered between the two curved halves of the base by the collectors, locked in place by the connector, wound around the heat sustaining plates and the ends are secured by the small fasteners, thereby fitting the device to the back of the head. The second device, also known as a clamp-like heated clutch, comprising of two jaws and heat storing wavy plates that are secured to each jaw, a coil at the pivotal point and power input jacks. The heated clutch is created to grip and fit flushed against the first device, essentially encasing the base, from the right side to the left side and from the top to the bottom. The opening and closing gripping motion of the heated clutch is made possible by a pivotal point having a coil for jaw-like movements, protracting and retracting. The heat storing wavy plates, which may or may not be connected to heating elements such as circuit boards or heating rings, are covered by a protective shell. The heated clutch may be connected to a removable duo jack electric cord which is also connected to an electrical outlet to deliver electricity to said device; however, the heated clutch may also be heated by gripping an external heating base that is made of a blend of metal and powered by electricity, thereby doing away altogether the heating elements in the jaws, power input jacks and the removable duo jack electric cord. Once the heated clutch reaches the desired temperature, the jaws grip the first device, covering the hair styling tool almost entirely, thereby radiating heat to facilitate the setting of curls and waves to the hair. When the appliance cools, the desired hairstyle is achieved.

The length and width of the device can be made to cover an average of 30% to 100% of the area at the back of the head. The connector 2 and the heat sustaining plates 5 are made to keep wounded hair strands in place, while the small fasteners 6 secure the ends of the hair strands in place.

Fig. 3 shows the front view of the hair styling tool 1 in its first operating position, whereby the connector 2 is unlocked so that each half of the device is brought down to the sides, to the right and to the left, one in each hand. By placing the device underneath the prearranged hair strands
5 on the head, with the link 3 near the nape of the neck, the two halves of said device are brought together as in one upward motion, whereby a single hair strand or multiple hair strands are gathered by the collectors 4 and the device is finally locked in place by the connector 2 found at the top.

The device is secured on the head by the curvature of the device and the collectors 4 now behind the prearranged strands of hair, as well as the tension soon to be created by winding strands of hair around the heat sustaining plates 5, thereby keeping the device flushed against the back of the head.
One by one, the hair strands are wound around the heat sustaining plates 5 in the desired formation/sequence. To create spirally curls, each hair strand may be wound in a circular motion around a single heat sustaining plate 5, securing the ends of the hair to the small fasteners 6. To create natural looking, wavy and beach-tousled hair, each hair strand may be wound around the heat sustaining plates 5 from one side to the other as in a zigzag motion or a figure-eight motion, leaving the ends of the hair to be secured to the small fasteners 6. It may be necessary for long strands of hair to be wound around the heat sustaining plates 5 a couple of times, from top to bottom, bottom to the top and from side to side. Once a hair styling tool 1 is fully or partially utilized by winding all or some hair strands creating a slight tension to secure the said device to the back of the head, the second device can be introduced and joined to the first device.
