Abstract

Dans des modes de réalisation donnés à titre d'exemple, une modulation hiérarchique peut être utilisée pour transmettre des informations secondaires sur un signal existant. Par exemple, le système de service de radio audio numérique par satellite de Sirius (« SDARS ») peut utiliser une seconde couche de modulation pour transmettre des données vidéo sur son signal audio habituel. Afin de prendre en charge de futurs services tels que celui-ci dans la conception de système d'origine, connu parfois sous le nom de système « patrimonial », une largeur de bande d'information supplémentaire peut être acquise, par exemple en utilisant une modulation hiérarchique pour des données de recouvrement pour de tels nouveaux services sur la transmission existante.
