Abstract

With oil reaching new price record, it is becoming very important to come up with innovative ideas to conserve energy. Thermal energy cost twice as much as the electrical energy in multi-unit residential buildings and condominiums.

The idea of renewable energy is becoming very popular in the construction business; whether the envelope more efficient :(better walls and roof insulation, more efficient or by fresh air heat recovery through an air exchanger. Boilers are becoming more efficient and energy efficient lights are becoming more popular everyday.

However, during the hours of the morning and the evenings. where multiple showers, baths or dishwashers are at peak, tremendous, amounts of hot water are going down, the drains wasted in the city sewage system.

The new GWHR "Grey Water Heat Recovery" will trap the previously wasted water in an insulated tank for a period of time to allow the grey water to exchange heat with the cold water before it leaves the tank and heads to the boiler.

This procedure will raise the temperature of the cold water entering the boiler, and extract some of the wasted hot water before the grey water leaves to the city sewage system.

Claims

Claim:

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows and shown on attached drawing.

A method of the holding tank 1 is installed between the building and the city sewage system allowing us to capture the wasted water for a period of time allowing for heat exchanging is illustrated in FIGS 1.

A method of installing a 6 or in pipe 2 carrying the sewage water from the building will enter the thank 1. The pipe is usually on a slope of 1/50.

A method of installing a 6 inch vent 3 will be located at the top of the sewage pipe as illustrated in FIGS1.

A method of installing an extended pipe 4 will drain the sewer line to the bottom of the tank. This way, the warm water from the building will stay in the tank for a maximum amount of time before it floats to the top where it is drained out to the city sewage system via pipe 6.

A method to extend the pipe 4 to a distance 7 from the bottom of the thank 1 A method to discharge via pipe 6 the grey water to the city sewage system after most of the heat is been recovered . This pipe 6 has, a slope of 1/50.

A method to implement the use of a heat exchanger system 10 to recover heat from the grey water medium.
