Abstract

The invention relates to an inlay sheet (10) for a booklike identification document, an identification document and a corresponding method for the production of an inlay sheet. The inlay sheet can be joined to the other parts of the book along one side via a seam in a hinge area (22). The inlay sheet comprises at least one layer made of thermoplastic elastomer (40, 140, 142, 340, 340', 340'') and at least one other layer (42, 43, 142, 143, 144, 145, 242, 243, 244, 245, 242', 243', 244', 245'). The at least one other layer extends in the direction of the inlay sheet plane (50) essentially from the side (25,25') facing the seam to the hinge area and the at least one layer made of thermoplastic elastomer extends into the hinge area. The layers forming the inlay sheet are laminated to each other.

Claims (16)

1. An inlay sheet (10) for a book-like identification document which can be connected to the other parts of the book by a seam in a hinge area (22) along one side and which consists of at least one layer made of a thermoplastic elastomer (40, 140, 240, 340, 340', 340") and at least one additional layer (42, 43, 142, 143, 144, 145, 242, 243, 244, 245, 242', 243', 244', 245'), wherein the one or more additional layers extend in the direction of the inlay sheet planar surface (50) essentially from the edge (25, 25') lying opposite to the seam up to the hinge area and the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers extend into the hinge area.
2. Inlay sheet according to claim 1, wherein the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers in the hinge area is thicker as compared to the remaining areas.
3. Inlay sheet according to claim 2, wherein the thickness of the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers in the hinge area is chosen such that the total thickness in the hinge area is equal to the total thickness in the other areas of the inlay sheet.

Inlay sheet according to claims 2 to 3, wherein at least two additional layers are arranged on one side of the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers, with each of said additional layers having a seam-side edge running essentially parallel to the seam, with the seam-side edge of the first additional layer (244, 245, 244', 245') which lies directly on the thermoplastic elastomer layer extending a shorter distance up to the hinge area as compared to the second one or more additional layers.
5. Inlay sheet according to claim 4, wherein the distance that the first additional layer extends up to the hinge area is at least 500 µm, preferably at least 1 mm (d, d'), shorter than that of the second one or more additional layers.
6. Inlay sheet according to claim 4 or 5, wherein at least the first additional layer or the second additional layer has a wave-like or zigzag formed edge (242a", 244a") in the direction of the hinge area.
7. Inlay sheet according to one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the one or more additional layers are made of high-temperature stabile plastic.
8. Inlay sheet according to one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers in the hinge area have a layer thickness of between 400 µm and 800 µm, preferably between 500 µm and 800 µm.
9. Inlay sheet according to one of claims 1 to 8, wherein a transponder coil is embedded in at least one of the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers.
10. Inlay sheet according to claim 9, wherein the transponder coil is embedded outside of the hinge area in the thermoplastic elastomer layer.
11. Book-like identification document, such as a passport, identification document, visa, or vaccination record, with an inlay sheet according to claims 1 to 10, wherein the inlay sheet is stitched into the book-like identification document, with the seam located in the hinge area.

Method for producing an inlay sheet (10) for a book-like identification document which consists of at least one layer made of a thermoplastic elastomer (40, 140, 240, 340, 340', 340") and at least one additional layer (42, 43, 142, 143, 144, 145, 242, 243, 244, 245, 242', 243', 244', 245'), and has a hinge area which is provided for application of the seam for completion of the identification element, wherein the one or more additional layers above and/or below the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers are arranged such that they extend in the direction of the inlay sheet planar surface (50) essentially from the edge (25, 25') lying opposite to the seam up to the hinge area and the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers extend into the hinge area, with the one or more additional layers being attached to the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers by lamination.

Method according to claim 12, wherein a first additional layer and a second one or more additional layers are arranged above or below the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers on the same side as the first additional layer, and the first additional layer and the second one or more additional layers are tacked together and/or tacked together with the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers before lamination.

Method according to one of claims 12 and 13, wherein the one or more additional layers are essentially arranged on areas of the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers that are thinner than reinforced areas of the thermoplastic elastomer layer, with the second one or more additional layers extending a little over the reinforced area.

Method according to claim 13, wherein the first additional layer and the second one or more additional layers are arranged on areas of the one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers which are thinner than the reinforced areas of the thermoplastic elastomer layer, with the second one or more additional layers extending a little over the reinforced area.
16. Method according to one of claims 12 to 15, wherein two or more inlay sheets are produced together on one sheet, with each pair of inlay sheets bordering each other at the hinge area and the inlay sheets being die cut out of the sheet after lamination.
