Abstract
A device that is inflated in a hole to retain material. The device comprises of an inflation cylinder, a valve to retain the inflation material in the cylinder, an attachment ring to hold the cylinder in place during inflation, an inflation hose with a tension cable and a disconnect valve which is released when the inflation hose is retracted from the device.
Description
Specification 1. This invention relates to plugging a hole through an inflatable device to retain material.
2. It is common in devices for plugging holes to be wooden/rubber or even chemical inflation bags. Plugs of this type are insufficient because they improperly seal the hole and material leaks out causing improper fragmentation, freezing of the blast, wastage of explosive material and environmental hazards. It has been proposed to have an inflatable cylinder with enough pressure to properly seal the plug against the drill hole walls to ensure no leakage of the material at an affordable price.
3. I have found that these disadvantages may be overcome by providing an inflatable plug with sufficient pressure to eliminate the possibility of improper seal between the plug and drill hole walls and to ensure the plug does not slip or slide out of the drill hole due to the mass of material being held in the drill hole by the plug.
4. Inflation hose (IH) is to be connected to the inflation device. The IH
contains a scale (feet or meter) and has a preset pressure gauge and relief valve so the inflation device is not over inflated. Once the inflation device is lowered to the desired length it may be preferred to tie off the device to a fixed object before inflation. Open the butterfly valve to inflate the device. Once inflation is complete, pull the inflation hose to disconnect the device. Fill the hole with desired material. (Refer to Figure 2)

Claims (7)
1. ~A device for sealing off a hole to retain material comprising of an inflation cylinder, valve, attachment ring an inflation hose with a tension cable and compression elastics.
2. ~An inflation cylinder as defined in claim 1, in which the cylinder is made of expandable and durable material.
3. ~A valve as defined in claim 1, in which it contains a one way valve.
4. ~An attachment ring as defined in claim 1, which is part of the inflation device used to tie rope, wire etc. to an anchor system, so as to hold the inflation device in place for inflation.
5. ~An inflation hose as defined in claim 1, which comprises of a hose which delivers the inflation material to the devise.
6. ~A tension cable as defined in claim 1, which comprises of a cable that is fixed to the inflation hose and valve which releases the valve when the inflation hose is pulled taught.
7. ~Compression elastics as defined in claim 1, which comprises of elastics to compress the devise to a sufficient size so the devise can be put into a hole.
