Abstract

Procédé d'extraction amélioré à faible consommation d'énergie permettant de récupérer le bitume des sables bitumineux, grâce auquel essentiellement toute l'énergie thermique pour traiter les sables bitumineux est fournie à l'étape du mélange des boues, plutôt qu'à l'étape du mélange et à l'étape de l'injection d'eau. Les sables bitumineux extraits sont mélangés avec une quantité suffisante d'eau chaude pour produire des boues de sables bitumineux ayant de préférence une masse volumique de l'ordre d'environ 1,50 g/cc à environ 1,60 g/cc, à une température de préférence de l'ordre d'environ 40 degrés Celsius à environ 55 degrés Celsius ou, mieux encore, à une température supérieure à environ 43 degrés Celsius. Les boues de sables bitumineux sont conditionnées, de préférence par pompage dans un pipeline pendant une durée suffisante, puis on leur injecte de l'eau froide afin d'obtenir des boues diluées ayant une masse volumique de l'ordre d'environ 1,4 g/cc à environ 1,5 g/cc, à une température généralement inférieure à 40 degrés Celsius et, habituellement, de l'ordre d'environ 30 degrés Celsius à environ 35 degrés Celsius. Les boues diluées sont introduites dans une enceinte de séparation par gravité, où l'on récupère la mousse de bitume.
