Abstract
Méthode de réduction de la quantité de mercure liée à un sorbant ou à des cendres volantes. La méthode comprend les étapes suivantes : fourniture d'une quantité de sorbant ou de cendres volantes, du mercure devant être lié à au moins une partie des particules de ce sorbant ou de ces cendres volantes; exposition du sorbant ou des cendres volantes à de l'air chauffé en circulation jusqu'à ce que des composés de mercure soient libérés d'au moins une partie des particules. De préférence, le sorbant ou les cendres volantes sont maintenus dans l'air chauffé en circulation jusqu'à ce que le sorbant atteigne une température d'au moins 700 °F (372 °C). Quand le sorbant est un charbon actif, il est préférable que le sorbant ou les cendres volantes soient maintenus dans l'air chauffé en circulation jusqu'à ce que le charbon actif atteigne une température se situant entre 700 °F (372 °C) et 1 000 °F (538 °C).
