Abstract

A roll paper feeder provided with no operating switch on the outside. A sens or for monitoring the movement of a paper reads out the operation of a user for pulling out the paper or stopping the pulling operation. A control program i s started by a signal from the sensor and the roll paper feeder performs cutti ng or feeding of paper automatically. Consequently, the user is not required to operate any switch. The roll paper feeder reads out the intension of the use r accurately through movement of the paper. Even a person having one handicapp ed arm, an infant, an aged person or a person deprived of one~s eyesight can pu ll out and cut a roll paper, e.g. a toilet paper, a cooking paper or a paper towel, readily in safety with one hand.

Claims

1. A roll paper feeder for feeding paper from a paper roll, comprising a sensor means for sensing an instant at which a user be-gins to pull out the paper from a movement of the paper; an automatic paper dispensing means adapted to operate automatically under con-trol of a control program and an automatic paper cutting means adapted to operate automatically under control of the control pro-gram.

A roll paper feeder for feeding paper from a paper roll, comprising a sensor means for sensing an instant at which a user ceases pulling out the paper from a movement of the paper ceasing an automatic paper dispensing means adapted to operate automatically under control of a control program and an automatic paper cutting means adapted to operate automatically under control of the control program.

A roll paper feeder as set forth in claim 1 or claim 2, char-acterized in that it further comprises a safety means having a con-trolley operable in response to a signal from said sensor means monitoring movement of the paper by sensing either an instant at which the user begins to pull out paper from a movement of the paper or an instant at which the user ceases pulling out the paper from a movement of the paper ceasing to actuate said safety means so as to maintain the width of a paper passage port in direction of paper thickness to a size sufficient to reject entry of an infant's finger (specifically to 3 mm or less) at least during a paper cutting operation by said automatic paper cut-ting means.

A roll paper feeder as set forth in claim 1 or claim 2, char-acterized in that it further comprises a coven means that can be opened to set a paper roll in a main body of the feeder and a safety means having a controller operable in response to a signal from said sensor means monitoring movement of the paper by sensing either an instant at which the user begins to pull out paper from a movement of the paper or an instant at which the user ceases pulling out the paper from a movement of the paper ceasing to actuate said safety means so as to maintain said cover means in the state that the user cannot open it at least during a pa-per cutting operation by said automatic paper cutting means.

A roll paper feeder as set forth in claim 2, characterized in that it further comprises a trigger switch for sensing an instant at which a user begins to pull out the paper from a movement of the paper to provide a signal, and a power supply circuit for the roll paper feeder, said power supply circuit being adapted to be turned on in response to said signal from said trigger switch, thereby rendering said sensor for monitoring movement of the paper first operative whereby the roll paper feeder when not in use consumes no power at all and thus is an energy-saving device.

A roll paper feeder as set forth in claim 1, characterized in that it comprises a sensor for sensing an instant at which a user begins to pull out the paper from a movement of the paper to produce a trigger sig-nal, and a control unit having said control program installed therein, said control unit being operative in response to said trigger signal to cause said automatic paper dispensing means to be operated to dis-pense the paper by a length preset to be suitable for use, then said automatic paper cutting means to be operated to cut the paper; and then said automatic paper dispensing means to be again operated to dispense the paper to an extent that a length of the paper that is easy to take up between user's fingers is suspended from a paper exit port of this roll paper feeder whereby an initial state is restored to wait for a next user to pull out the paper.
