Abstract

Ce document décrit un procédé de concassage par étapes, d'ajout d'eau et de mixage à la mine afin de préparer une pulpe de sable bitumineux en vue de son hydrotransport. Plus particulièrement, les blocs de sable bitumineux provenant des opérations d'extraction brute sont fragmentés à l'aide d'un concasseur mobile pour en permettre le transport par convoyeur (c'est-à- dire en morceaux de moins de 24 po ¬60 cm|). Ce minerai préconcassé est transporté jusque dans un réservoir intermédiaire. Il est ensuite extrait de ce réservoir et transporté par convoyeur jusqu'au sommet d'une tour de préparation de pulpe munie d'outils alignés verticalement afin de permettre l'alimentation par gravité de la tour. Le minerai traverse ensuite une autre série de concasseurs qui le réduisent en morceaux dont la taille (4 po ¬10 cm|) en permet le transport par pipeline; de l'eau est ajoutée à la fin du processus de fragmentation. Le mélange de minerai et d'eau est homogénéisé dans un bac de mixage et est ensuite canalisé vers un module de pompage. Le réservoir intermédiaire et la tour de préparation peuvent être relocalisés. Ce système est dépourvu d'appareils de tamisage et de traitement des rebuts de grandes dimensions pour créer un ensemble compact pouvant être déplacé.
