Description
~YaS~DE ~aCUZa ' ~I~~a P~L°dOx~~a=G'~a DOMAINE DE Io'INVENTION
DESCRIPTION DE L'ART ANTÉRIEUR
FIELD OF IO 'INVENTION
The present invention relates to snowmobiles, and more particularly to a snowmobile recoil system.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
During forest excursions, sometimes branches caught between the back of the skis and the chassis of a snowmobiling when backing up.
It was discovered that a simple improvement could be brought to snowmobiles to prevent this inconvenience important.
For example, the Canadian patent 2,040,453 discloses a development for snowmobiles with the triple goal of allow a snowmobile to stay on the snow when she recedes, to allow her to overcome all obstacles, and finally to prevent objects such as branches to be caught between the back of the ski: and the chassis of the snowmobile when it recedes. The described improvement is intended to be applied to a snowmobile of the type comprising a frame having a longitudinal axis, at least one directional ski pivotally mounted under the chassis, each ski being, in normal position, parallel to the axis longitudinal and, where there are two of them, symmetrically on each side of said axis, each ski possessing one front end bent up and one end rear, and motorized means generally constituted by a caterpillar to operate and move the snowmobile.
This improvement consists of incorporating into the snowmobile previously described structure, a tongue called "Retreat" associated with each ski. Wrapped tongue extends between the back of the corresponding ski and the chassis for to form a barrier allowing the snowmobile to move back preventing objects from being inserted between the ski and the chassis when the snowmobile moves back. The assembly of tongues on the snowmobile allows the tabs to follow the movements of the back of each ski when it move or swivel.
However, the recoil system previously described has different disadvantages. Indeed, the structure used to join the tongue to the frame does not allow the back tab to follow naturally and easily the ski movement. Moreover, by its construction, this system is relatively bulky in reverse and is likely to cling to nearby obstacles snowmobiling. Thus, the recoil system is subject to frequent breakage when used in narrow passages and difficult.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to provide a system enhanced snowmobile recoil functional qualities.
Another object of this invention is to provide a improved snowmobile recoil system simple and more convenient than the previous system, allowing to reduce the risk of breakage of the device associated with its use.
Another object of this invention is to provide a snowmobile recoil system using less parts and welds than the previous system, allowing thus reduce its manufacturing cost.
More specifically, an object of the present invention is to provide a recoil system for a snowmobile, the

DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a snowmobile 1 of the type conventional, comprising a frame 2 having a longitudinal axis
Un assemblage 4, at least one directional ski 6 pivotally mounted under the frame 2, each ski 6 having a front end 8 and a rear end 10. For each ski 6, the system recoil 12 comprises a recoil tab 14 extending angularly from the bottom upwards from the rear end 10 of the ski 6 to the chassis 2, this tongue 14 is endowed with a front end 16 and a rear end 18 provided with an opening 20 (as shown in Figure 3).
The recoil system 12 also includes a first element 22 for pivotally attaching the end before 16 of the recoil tab 14 to: The rear extremity 10 6. The reversing system 12 according to the present invention also includes a support rod 24 attached to the frame 2 parallel to the longitudinal axis 4 as well as a second fastening element 26 for fixing the holding rod 24 to even the chassis 2 of the snowmobile 1. The recoil 14 is thus attached and retained to the frame 2 pivotally and sliding through the holding rod 24 inserted into the opening 20 of the rear end 18 of the recoil tab 14.
As illustrated in Figure 3, the opening 20 of the recoil tab 14 is larger than the diameter of the rod 24 used so that the tongue slides and slides freely on the holding rod 24. The opening 20 is preferably circular to simplify the manufacture of the recoil tab 14. However, other forms of opening could be used. The end rear 18 of the recoil tab 14 is bent towards the 1st high so as to reduce the friction of the tongue 14 against the rod 24, and thus facilitate the sliding of the recoil tab 14 on the holding rod 24. During the use of snowmobiling, snow tends to accumulate and compact at the end section before 16 of the recoil tab 14 and the first means of 22. Consequently, the extremity before 16 of the recoil tab 14 is preferably sharp to facilitate the cleaning of the recoil tab 14 and the first fastener 22. The end before 16 of the reversing tongue 14 is provided with a mounting hole 30 allowing to attach the tongue 14 to the ski 6. The tongue 14 is made of a resistant material which can to be flexible. A recoil tab 14 consisting of a resistant yet flexible material allows you to give even more of flexibility to the recoil system 12 and thus allows significantly reduce the risk of breakage inherent to its use. Preferably, the tab of recoil 14 is made of polymer such as, for example, TEFLON
but any other resistant and flexible material, such as UHM for example, could be used.
As illustrated in Figures 1 and 5, the front end 16 of the recoil tab 14 is attached to the end rear 10 of the ski 6 pivotally by a first element 22. A pivot, as shown in the Figures 4 and 5, can be used for this purpose. An assembly
chacune de ses extrémités et la tige 14 serait alors retenue 5 screw-nut passing through the fixing hole 30 located at the front end 16 of the tongue c '~ e recoil_ 14 holds the tongue 14 and allows it to pivot relative to the ski 6 in the horizontal plane, the pivot 22 is designed to allow at the tongue 14 to pivot relative to the ski 6 in the vertical plane. This assembly thus allows the tongue of recoil 14 to follow naturally and easily the movement of the back of the ski 6 whatever its movement. This montage fits and remains functional, that the rear end 10 of the ski 6 is flat or slightly bent up.
Other fastening devices, such as the combination of two simple pivots, could be used to join the recoil tab 14 to the ski 6.
As illustrated in Figures 1 and 5, the tab of recoil 14 is attached to even chassis 2 via of a holding rod 24. Preferably, the stem of 24 is fixed parallel to the longitudinal axis 4 of 1a snowmobile 1 in order to offer an optimum sliding 1a recoil tab 14 on the holding rod 24 whatever the movement of the ski 6. The fixing device 26 for attaching the recoil tab 14 to the frame 2 may consist of a mounting plate 32 attached to the chassis 2 by means of fasteners 34. This plate of mounting 32 may be provided with ledges (not shown) extending down. Thus, each of the two extremes of the holding rod 24 can be fixed to the edges of the plate 32 so as to provide a space between the frame 2 and the holding rod 24 so that the .Remove strip 14 can slide and rotate freely on the support rod 24 without interfering with the chassis. A welded fixing allows to obtain the necessary robustness. However, other arrangements are possible. For example, the holding rod 14 could be provided with holes made to each of its ends and the rod 14 would then be retained
The plate 32 may exceed on the sides of the snowmobile and can be brought to be hit by obstacles such as a branch in reverse.
Thus, the mounting plate 32 may be provided with corners rounded in order to facilitate a sliding of the obstacles on the plate 32.
In another preferred embodiment, as illustrated in Figure 5, the mounting plate 32 is not provided with flanges. The holding rod 24 is bent at both ends and is thus directly attached to the plate of 32. As before, the ends of the rod 24 are preferably welded to the plate 32 but any other robust fastening device such as nut screw arrangement could agree.
The fasteners 34 for fastening the plate 32 to frame 2 may be screws inserted and screwed into holes made in the chassis 2 but any other device fixing would be possible.
Preferably, the holding rod 24 and the plate mounting 32 are metal.
Figures 6 and 7 illustrate the movement of the recoil tab 14 para. relative to the holding rod 24.
As shown in Figure 6, the ~; ki 6 is parallel to the longitudinal axis 4 of the snowmobile 1. Figure 7 represents a ski 6 being rotated relative to the axis longitudinal 4 of the snowmobile 1. We can thus notice that the recoil tab 14 slides on the rod 24 advancing forward of the snowmobile 1 when the snowmobile makes a change of direction. So, the stem of maintenance 24 must be of sufficient length for the recoil tab 14 can follow the movements of the back of the ski 6 without limiting the range of motion original authorized ski 6.
